Funny story.

Three days ago, I went a little nuts and purchased a big Plomb...a 1-1/2 & 1-5/8 DOE that is, by far, my largest Plomb to date. I felt rather foolish buying it, and sheepishly admitted the purchase to my wife. She sniggered at me. I looked at that huge 1-5/8 end and thought, "What an odd size. I will never use that for anything."

Today I was plumbing a new sink for my wife. There was a large nut I had to tighten, with bad access, that wouldn't allow my adjustable wrench. "I wonder what size that is," I thought, and started working my way through my Plomb collection (since it contains the only large wrenches I own).

Anybody want to guess what size it was?

That's right, it was 1-5/8, and it did the trick perfectly. So I was able to explain to my wife, "See? You really do need every tool you own, and an awful lot of them that you don't." She is the hand model in the photo below, holding today's hero...

I can agree with that. I bought some misc wrenches including a 30mm Proto, after buying it I thought I bet I never will use that. Sure enough 2 weeks later I had a 30mm bolt to take out.

Haha! I get the same argument all the time - "why do you need to buy new tools when you don't use the ones you already have." Well, there are some tools that I use frequently, and others that I don't want to have to run out in the middle of the night for to purchase. Besides, I usually cannot pass up good sales.

Nice to see that you were able to put that mini monster to good use!

I do not wrench for a living anymore, so I do not need every tool I have anymore.
I am sure there are a few sizes of sockets that I have rairly to never used and there are many more that I have not used in the last 10 years.

nope...not getting rid of a damm one of them...just wont do it

they are bought and paid for and I may need them one day so I am gonna keep them all.

on the other hand there are some tools that I still need or at least I think I need.

have you ever heard the saying ' if you think you will fail then you will'
ok well, 'if I think I need them then I do'

Do I really need all my tools?

I can't remember all the tools I have, and can't find all that I do remember, so of course I need some more. ;)

I haven't thought of any reason yet, but I WANT a set of those new GearWrench jumbo combo ratchets.
