I have a dream
Most of us have projects on the go - ones started that are in various stages of completeness, but what is that DREAM project you would like to complete if you had the time and resources? Maybe when you retire. Something you've invented. Something that time and money is needed to get built. A house. A car. A bike. A cottage. Spaceship. The perfect woman (well, let's be realistic!). Left handed ratcheting torque thrust straws....

My dream project? A 60's era Indy Roadster. A low slung, wide, closed car, yet open cockpit design - that'd be the "feather" so to speak, in my proverbial fabrication cap. Street legal with two seats, a tiny windsheild and knock-off wheels. Wouldn't be too hard to build really...so maybe...just maybe.

What's yours???

My current ongoing project is a 63 ford F100 unibody pickup ( hence why I asked about the Merc uni tailgate in your other thread ) merc = Mercury uni = unibody . I do want to build a car from scratch someday streetrod roadster.

Restore my '75 Honda CB400F. It's not bad right now but not reliable enough or "pretty" enough for my liking. Bought the thing for $125 13 years ago and rode it for a few years after that. Needs some cosmetic stuff and some real minor mechanical issues and it will be good to go.

After that replace the current 20x22 garage with a larger one that can hold the Jeep & civic in one part and have another area where I can work on the bikes. Would want to sink the bike lift flush to the floor and have work benches on at least 2 sides of the work area. Cold storage w/steel rack out back for the welding projects.

How about an open-wheeled, *******, twin-turbo SHO-powered roadster?

500+hp in a sub 2k lb rig.

Yeah, that would work for me. :lol_hitti

And someday, I will build it.

That, and a **** old suicide door Lincoln continental, black on black.

One rig for comfort.
One rig for stupid crazy suicide speed.

I would like to have what has the general appearance to be a 32 ford at heart. in reality there would be nothing original to it. I would want to build the entire thing including making the frame and body. I would stylize it to appear to be a cross between a hotrod/sportscar/lakes roadster

I have the vision in my head, just need to get it to reality

I dream to have the space, skills, TIME, and resources to have SEVERAL project cars all at the same time.

Among the fleet would be a 69 Mach 1 (Boss would be okay too:bounce:)

I've got this mentak skectck of a 70-73 Datsun Z in full vintage racing regalia with a G nose, fender flares, fender mirrors, and fat mini-lite wheels. I'd liv efor GMPP ot release a crate engine version of that lovely little direct inject 2.0L Turbo motor from the Solstice/Sky and pump the boost a bit. I figure with th eengine swap, a manual transmission, and copious use of aluminum for radiators, driveshafts, axles, etc, you could probably drag an early Z down to around 2K lbs. With an aero G nose and 350-ish horsepower, it would be a pretty amazing (and fuel efficent) car.

I am surprised to see all the dreams consist of cars.....

Mine would be to build a small lake home from the ground up, without help.

On the somewhat realistic end of the automotive spectrum would be just finding the time to restore my '66 Mustang and make more regular progress on my truck project.

Further out in the spectrum would be to transplant a Duramax into something like this for a custom carhauler:

Custom '39 GMC COE

Construction I've always wanted to build a secret underground lair with workshop space and such... Muahahaha!!!!! :D

I'd like to build a small home or "casita" out of as close to nothing as possible. Adobe, cement additive polished dirt floors, locally harvested lumber, etc. Not to be green; I could care less, but to recapture the fun of youth when making something from some mud and rocks and sticks and cardboard. To see just how close to zero you could keep the budget and still have a place to stick guests that was comfortable and enjoyable to be in.

Wow - how inspiring! Glad I started this one! Most of them sound realistic too (save for the semi-autonomous aquatic robot - but then, who am I to say?!)

carwise: after selling my V8s10, i wanna either build a freaking hot dragracing s10 rearhalfed, etc. or find a 55 Chevy truck and build that thing with huge rims, twotoned and airride... So we'll see what crosses my way first.

buildingwise: I would love to build an awesome house with a hidden workshop in the basement, so none of the neighbours can complain about grinding and working at night...

Garage suite above with car elevator to garage basement (hence Car elevator mod thread). DIY electric car conversion with 400km+ range (technology available soon I hope). New house built on this site after we move into the garage suite.
Current project: Insurance reconstruction of my mother's house. Completing framing stage currently while going to school f/t construction management.

My dream project is to finish the cars/bikes I currently have.

914 - I'd love to get a new motor built (keeping it a 4-cyl just to be odd) and new paint etc.
280C - Start/finish my motor rebuild to euro+ spec with EFI and crnk-fire ignition, new interior (leather), finish my fully hidden stereo, and fix the seals and floorpan rust
Bandit 400 - Build the motor to a 442cc with all the suspension goodies
FZR 400 - Do a yzf600 motor/trans swap and install my R6 brakes and suspension bits

If I could finish all of those I'd be as happy as can be.

I guess if I could have one more it'd be a 356 cabrio or long-hood 911 full build as well.

I have daydreamed for years about offbeat hot-rod projects. The one I think about most:

A Chevy 3100 pickup truck set up for road course track work, with a full tube frame, independent suspension, Northstar V8, and monster brakes.
I recently bought a car from a race mechanic who had, tucked away in a corner of the shop, his version of this: a tube frame chassis, double wishbone at all corners, with mid-mounted 3L porsche turbo built to fit under an early VW beetle shell. That's the idea.

Wow, a bunch of garage nuts turn out to be gearheads, too. What a shock!
:bounce:
Well, lemme see.
My new shop addition is almost complete, so I will soon have the space to play.
My ultimate dream build is a '34 Ford 3-window Coupe, (all Henry Steel) on a set of original rails, dropped I-beam, split hairpins, Winters quickchange in the rear, rolling on rings and caps and powered by a strong 351C coupled to a 5 speed.
In the meantime, I have my '40 Sedan to putz with, a '56 F-100 to build, a fun little '65 Beetle to sell and a '73 Karmann Ghia Ragtop top build.
Enough to keep me busy forever.

I love the Ghia rags - that'd be a fun toy to do.
Do you have a shop-build thread?

Well, not really. I was trying to hold off until the loft and false-front Texaco station is installed. I want to do it all at once. However, perhaps I will just start on it this weekend.:)

The Ghia is a godfather-godson project with me being the son. It is arriving in the next few days. I need to sell the '65 to help with the $, and con my partner into going with a 2276 stroker. I have visions of doing this thing with the top off, a roadster style cover over the boot, dropped a bit in the front, Porsche style polished Fuchs, M-Benz silver paint, black interior and a bolt in looks-only type 3 inch chrome roll bar.:bounce:

Personally I'm not into classics nor am I a restoration type of a guy but I love building stuff with my hands. So I think my dream project would be to scratch build a car (design, fabricate frame, suspension etc) or tear down and rebuild a late 80s to mid 90s beat-up truck to make it a reliable daily driver for towing, hauling, roughing it up.

The upcoming dream project is a rat rod high boy roadster style hot rod.No billet,no bling,no hi tech, just an old school flathead, drum brake solid axle menace!

I think a dream home designed from scratch would be nice but I have no desire to build it myself so it probably doesn't count as a project. Next on the list would be a ground up rotisserie style resto on another Mopar although I'm a little burned out from the 'Cuda resto. It was not quite ground up but close. It would have to be the right car and right now I am thinking a '63 Dodge 330 max wedge or hemi clone or (get real) original hemi car. Right now I'm doing my dream garage. It's just a decent sized double suitable for a 4 post lift but I've wanted one for ages. One dream at a time I guess. :)
