Your experience with freight liftgate service?

The vendor you buy the tool from always tell you the trucking guys will just drop it to the ground for you, perhaps at the curb or driveway, that's it.

But in reality, the guy have to get the pallet jack anyway to roll it to the liftgate, so do they try to move into the garage for you?

Last time the guy was nice enough to put the compressor /w pallet in the garage for me, but is it always the case?

A lot of it will depend on the driver. At work we get a lot of rolls of engineering printer paper (36" x 500' roll = about 15 pounds - 2 per box or 44 per crate). Most of the time it is delivered by Standard Freight. The normal driver will bring it into the office and stack it right where we store it. Fill in drivers will only get it to the end of the truck (not the ground) and we have to get it to the building.

If you can/will help, most drivers will hook you up. A cold drink or a small tip also goes a long way with some drivers.

ICC regs. state to the tail. After that it's the customer's problem. You were very fortunate to get a great driver, as many are. He went beyond his job to help. Just think of other jobs . Who goes out of their way to help anyone. You see it all the time. END OF RANT

Yep, Bobcat with pallet forks here...

But drivers will usually help you out if you are polite, respectful, and it is just a few extra minutes.

I have always specified inside delivery. You pay extra, but who cares?

It is not part of the drivers job to get it off the truck when they arrive. If you've had a fellow who has done more, consider yourself lucky and tip the man.

This is one of the biggest obstacles with people trying to buy internet lifts. Sometimes it pays to buy locally.
