Now i've owned and used quite a few drills now.. mulwaukee lok-tor, V28, makita LXT, compact ridgid, ridgid X2, bosch, mastercraft, etc.

I think my all time favorite so far is my dewalt DC95 I just got in the kit. Fit and finish on it isn't that good, and it's a nicad tool, but I just love this drill. It's got alot of power (up there with the mlwaukee), it's well ballanced, fits my hand great, and had the best chuck I have ever seen on a cordless drill. I didn't think much of it at first, but now I am really glad I got it.

How about you guys?

Dewalt 18v xrp cordless hands down. Good balance of speed, power and weight. Its feels good when drilling and it has a nice front to rear balance.

I like all dewalt drills, best bang for the buck.

Octanemotorsports has a 12v and it does any job he needs it to do, I was surprised.

I have a bunch of drills but I think my favorite is a 1/2" D-handle electric drill made by Millers Falls Tool Co. I found it in the trash and repaired it. It just feels good- I think because it is 100% metal.

A 3/8 corded dewalt. I don't know the model number. My neighbor was throwing it away when cleaning out his garage before he moved. The cord was cut. One new cord later and it's my favorite drill. I have several cordless, but they don't hold a charge very long. BTW, this guy also gave me a bandsaw becuase one of the pulleys was missing they keyway pin. I'm converting that bandsaw into a metal cutting saw.

A tossup between my 1/2" 14.4V Milwaukee cordless and my 3/8" DeWalt corded. Nice medium weight drills, OK for use on a ladder.

For lots of overhead cliffhanger ladder work, I like my 12V BDs. A little short on power, but the lighter weight can be a blessing.

I have a DW988 18V hammer drill, but it is heavy and awkward compared to the others.

Cordless 14.4 Volt Makita. Great balance, plenty of power and the ability to control it as needed. Using NMh batteries (but they are conking out now after about 10 years).

My vintage Souix angle head 1/4 inch. It's rated for 120v AC/DC. It's got the torque of one of the newer 3/8 in.ers. The best is that I obtained it at a swap meet for $5!

I've got an old Dewalt 12v thats on it's third set of batteries. To give you an idea of how old it is,it's carrying case is steel.I guess that makes it about 12-15 years old. There's just a nice balance of power and weight,so I grab it more than any of my other drills. If that drill can't do the job,my next choice is a 18v Dewalt hammer drill driver, followed by a Milwaukee 1/2" Magnum and an ancient Skil that has more torque than I can hold onto.I'm currently looking for a used right angle Milwaukee D handle or a HoleHawg.

Millers Falls=AA++:thumbup:

I've got several Millers Falls braces and a couple of their breast drills. All are still nice to use. The breast drills are also two sped.

My favorite drills are my Hitachi 14v cordless and the Milwaukee half inch 8amp corded.

I have cheap-o drills but they've worked great for me thus far:

- Dewalt 12v hand-me-down for day-to-day use
- Craftsman 1/2 in. Corded Hammer Drill. Cheap hammer drill but has worked like a charm thus far! Cheaper than renting so it has paid for itself already.

Craftsman 3/8 corded drill. It's all drill motor with a small grip and big chrome nose. I lengthened the cord to about 20 ft. I've had this sucker for over 25 years of homeowner use and it'll still spin your *** around a vise if it gets hung up on a chip.

Another DeWalt 18V lover for cordless and The Milwaukee 1/2 magnum for corded work. The DeWalt looks like its gone through hell and back and has for the most part. I have 2 of them and still use the older one at work all day.

This is what I bring out when I have something like 1 inch plate to drill...

...no extension cords needed and the battery only requires a few bud lights to recharge.

My favorite is a BOSCH MODEL 1199VSR -1/2" DUAL TORQUE HAMMER DRILL, it's has an 8.5 amp motor and is made in Switzerland. The hammer drill feature is great it you occasionally need to drill in concrete or stone.

The drill is also not very expensive.
