I recently got a couple of things from Zoro Tools. It was a good experience.

Harry Epstein's is pretty consistent. But then, so is Amazon.

Good picks:thumbup:

I just wanted to say that i make purchases from Epsteins almost weekly, sure, some stuff, there prices can beat, and shipping can add up, but i feel it is my duty to support the best brick and mortar store in the USA. Epsteins stock is something like 70% USA made tools, they have great nos stuff, Jori is a pleasure to deal with, He responds to emails every day. So please support this small tool vendor, it truly is one of a kind store and Epsteins is a great fit for the patrons of the garagejournal. Please shop at Harry Epsteins when possible, i want to see this place around for ever.

eBay for me is the gold standard. If it's available, it's there with very few exceptions. I do not restrict myself to eBay.com. Very often I use eBay.co.uk and eBay.de. Today the market place is world wide and you do yourself a disservice by not investigating international sources. Of course shipping costs and import duties are players in the cost analysis, but very often availability is a larger issue. Just as an example, if you are looking for metric fasteners, DIN alloys or Multifix toolsholders, you look to Europe as well as the US. Very often these items are less expensive and more available internationally even considering shipping and duties.

I'm lucky, pretty much have all the tools in need. most of the stuff I have is 2nd hand, that I bought cheap at yard sales or flee markets. I did buy a new unisaw once, $1100 was alot of monet 35 years ago!. Also get alot of good stuff at the county dump. On on the down side, I've burned alot of gas and time going around looking too. Its what I like to do, I would do it if I was rich too.

Epsteins and JD Industrial Supply. Both are small businesses that are big on American made tools and supplies. Much more enjoyable than buying from some big huge corporation. Fantastic customer service at both places. And JD is veteran owned and proud of it too, which is always nice to see.

I'll throw in a second vote for Zoro tools. Very fair prices on everything that I found, excellent selection of different options, and insanely fast shipping. I chose the standard cheapest shipping available, and received my stuff within 36 hours. May not be typical, but I was pleased.

If nobody has checked them out yet, they've got some great pneumatic stuff. They were the only place that I found a 3/4" filter and regulator that I was happy with.

Google shopping (which can lead to hundreds of vendors), Fleabay, Amazon. I will also google the tool number to see if it turns up at other vendors, not listed in "google shopping" Google is goofy about the way info has to be fed to them, for your "stores" inventory to make the google shopping list.

I find some of my best deals, buy working the numbers, not the vendors.

Most my purchases come off ebay, then Amazon, and the various sites, including GJ, and other forums I frequent. I even buy stuff from wally world online, the HD, because their shipping is so cheap, I cant drive there and buy it, so I have it shipped.
