Craftsman metric combos from the early to mid '70s. No later than '74 as I remember. Beyond those, I used my Dad's tools.

SK 1/2” drive ratchet and socket set from Christmas 1966, along with a set of Monkey Wards combination wrenches

Edit: actually, the SK set is stamped SK-Wayne, now that I think about it. That’ll date it!

I have my first toolbox, two drawer Craftsman Rally Box and my first set of wrenches; Craftsman double box offset SAE set. Both from early 70’s.

Still have some Stanley wrenches I bought when I was 11 or 12, also some Craftsman screwdrivers from around same time frame.

Oldest tool I have in regular use is a Stanley 220 block plane my grandfather gave me. It still rides in my trim carpentry belt.

Craftsman toolbox with 1/2 and 3/8 drive ratchets and socket sets along with a set of Allen wrenches and ignition wrenches. The girl I was dating Christmas of 1981 gave me the set, I still use it today.

I have a Starrett sheet metal gage and a pair of 6" dividers that were probably made in the 1950s. A guy I worked with 40 years ago was retiring. On his last day, he walked around the shop giving out tools he had duplicates of or figured he'd never use again. As a 25 year old apprentice, I was thrilled to get them.

Oldest tools depend upon when they were made.

The OP was asking how long we'd been using them. I have tools my dad gave me more than sixty years ago. I doubt it's possible to wear out Ridgid heavy duty pipe wrenches.

I, too, have a Craftsman torque wrench which was a 1966 Christmas present from a girlfriend who wanted to be more.

Exactly. Whats the longest tool in your possession. So like if you're Dad had them 50 years and you 10, you cant say 60 lol.

I wish I had the tools from when I was a kid, but they were really crummy and most of them were left out in the rain by yours truly so they didn't last. I remember MiT quality.

I had my tools stolen when I was about 18 ('78), I have some of the stuff I bought right away to replace them... CK screwdrivers, Halfords pliers, a ball pein, Talco hand impact driver, Britool & Facom combo wrenches, Kamasa sockets (the ratchet STB years ago) & offset BE wrenches.
I still have the wired edge tin tray I made in metal shop in HS.

And then there's the three-generation Craftsman roller that's contained tools used by aircraft mechanics since the early '50's. First guy is long dead, second guy got it in the 70's, he's pushing 80 now & I've had it maybe 12 years.

i moved across the country in the early 2000s and started all over with tools. i bought some craftsman module socket sets with ratchets, and also bought a 3/8 flex ratchet. so these ratchets from the early 2000s are my oldest in the collection.

I still have my first craftsman sets (sockets and wrenches)from the early 90‘s I bought as a teen, along with a pile of Milwaukee power tools that followed along shortly after. I still have my first upper cabinet from sears with the friction slides when I out grew my two drawer rally box. I have some air tools of the same vintage from sears as well.
1990 was when my tool addiction started in middle school.

Started buying some tools when I was about 12 or so, most were cheap junk but I still have a small Thorsen USA 3/8 socket set that I got from K-mart in the late 70's. Have a few of my grandad's tools, his 3/4 drive ratchet that I can remember watching him use before I could even lift it. His blackhawk torque wrench that was always on the shelf and in the case, kept in his shop office. His bench grinder and vise that look the same to me as they did 50 years ago. Still the same red paint I watched him spray on them when I was little.

everything was new, i think i gave him 50 bucks for everything. I'm sure i have lost or broke a few tools but i still have most of them. i still have my 13V craftsman drill and timing light my parents gave for my 16th? birthday.

Still have some of the tools I bought in 1978 when I purchased my first Opel (Manta). I still use the triple square Snap-on for Opel head bolts (although now for an Opel GT instead of the Opel Manta).

Miraculously I still have my first Snap-On purchase from the truck, a 1/4” drive set, purchased in 1979, although the ratchet has been replaced. I owned Snap-On tools before that, but none survived the two thefts I endured. I do still own some of the tools bought to replace after the first theft. After the second I seldom bought Snap-On because there wasn’t much sense in me buying other people nice tools, especially when I didn’t even know them and certainly didn’t like them.

I still have/use my first tools that my folks gave me back in about 1971 or 1972. A set of Craftsman. I also have a large box of vintage carpenter tools that belonged to my grandfather from probably the 1940s or 50s, perhaps earlier. Some of that stuff I don't what it's for or how to use it.

Bought a Craftsman set with 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 sockets, ratchets, no miscellaneous wrenches and screwdrivers in 1978. Still have all of it, mostly in my shop. Still use the utility knife that came with it. So - 43 years.

My first tool set came from a family friend who's son started in the local community College mechanics program and then dropped it. It was a Craftsman set with the basic hand tools, i should still have all the tools, this was around 1982.

Bought the S-K when in grade four (1951) and was given the Blue Point, with a broken handle, in 1956. That was my first re-handling job and still going strong.

I have the first power tool I ever owned. It's a black and decker 1/4" electric drill I bought when I was in high school in 1964. I still use some of my granddads tools that followed him home from the shipyard during WW1.

I am 35 years old, so nothing quite that old, by comparison, but nonetheless. I have a Craftsman circular saw, the first power tool I ever owned personally (not my parents). It is a 75th anniversary edition, which sets it around 2002. Still use it today, but mostly use my Makita tracksaw.

I also have a Craftsman 100 some odd piece mechanics set (ratchet/sockets) from the same era. Its my main socket set, in my home/hobby woodshop box, though the blow molded case is long gone, and I don't use the ratchets much anymore.

I will never get rid of either, until the saw breaks, both come with fond memories. My dad was not into tools, we paid someone do maintenance on the cars and house, my mom hung pictures and such, also did minor repairs, so we did have a basic tool set (drills, circ saw, hand tools, etc). Not to discredit my dad, he worked hard and has taught me some other very valuable life skills, that most definitely helped shape who I am today... That said, I always was a tinkerer, have pictures of me at like 5 taking apart one of those old plastic push/sparking toy mower toys. I built forts and treehouses, then started skateboarding in middle school and built a ton of ramps for myself and friends. In high school, I helped my neighbor do some work on his rental properties. I chalk up most of what I know today, from him. He didn't teach me everything, but he sure gave me a good start. At any rate, one day I was doing some painting with him, instead of paying me for the work, we stopped by Sears on the way home and picked up that saw and a 19.2 Craftsman drill/driver set. I was thrilled at the time, no telling how much stuff those tools helped me build, and certainly helped get me where I am today!

The socket set was a Christmas gift from my parents, along with a set of Craftsman screwdrivers, a 10" craftsman miter saw (handle broke and is gone), Craftsman pliers set (US made, black handles, still have and love those, too), and some other odds and ends tools. Probably the same year as above, thats all I wanted was tools. To fix my car, to build stuff, to install car stereos, etc. My senior project, I built a handicapped accessible picnic table and donated it to the church, using all my own tools... My senior project mentor, you ask, my neighbor from above.

I have most of the 300 piece Craftsman tool set I bought in the late 80's. I have a bunch of 20+ year old corded power tools that don't get used anymore. As far as battery powered, that's gonna be my Makita 7.2 volt impact stick driver. I bought it winter of 2007 or early spring of 2008. It still works, but the switch is going bad so three weeks ago it got put on garage duty and I bought the new and improved model.
