Your Most Creative Use of A Tool

I have an unusual use of a Snap-On 6mm / 7mm Box Wrench. I use it as a key chain ready to tackle loose bolts at a moments notice.

What creative, non standard use of your tools do you guys have?

Used a long woodscrew, a screwdriver and a pair of pliers to remove the cork from a bottle of wine when I was dating my wife. They were all things I happened to find in her kitchen junk drawer.
They say necessity is the mother of invention, but the male *** drive is a very, very close second. That cork coming out of the wine bottle was an integral part of my evening's plans, and I wasn't going to let a little thing like a broken opener stand in my way!

I once (in my earlier stupid youth) clamped on to some really thin wires to extend the length of some jumper cables that were a bit short. That's the first and only time that I ever saw wires actually melt. The outer insulation started to "leak" off the wire and then the wires themselves melted away.

I used some doubled up 12/2 a few months ago. No one had jumper cables. But we got my buddies van started. Wires were getting warm. But it worked.

I use channellock pliers to open beer bottles. Not that creative but it works.

Dude that's disgusting! At least use the Knipex insulated sockets for easy clean-up and rust prevention. Geez. Could you imagine a rusty fleshlight?


I used a Horror Freight 1/2 inch drill as the motor for a halloween prop once
It was a pvc body and arms with a leaver attached to the arms. Rigged up the drill to a motion detector so whenever someone walked by it the arms would flail. That prop helped me discover that my neighbor screams like a little girl.

Also, a 64mm socket makes an excellent beer holder.

I hate to admit this but it will be a hoot for all you Three Stooges Fans. . .

When I first got to SWA (South West Asia) for OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom) there was a bit of a mess locating where my professional equipment (dental instruments) was sent. Because of the high operations tempo and STRESS a few of the Airmen cracked/chipped some teeth which began to cut their lips and tongues.

Having no instruments handy, I was forced to use my Leatherman's metal file to help round off the rough edges. Later I got some emery boards from some of the nurses.

Somewhere in Heaven Curly Howard is smiling at me going "N'uyk N'uyk N'uyk!"

I complained to my Dr. one time about a sore inside my cheek. He suggested that I go see a ear nose and mouth specialist. She looks in my mouth and says looks like the possibility of cancer, we need to remove it. A few days before the surgery I take matters into my own hands. I use a fingernail file to remove a sharp spot on my tooth. I call the Dr. and let her know I think I have cured myself. She is very skeptical, makes me promise to come in and do whatever she says. So far I have not had surgery and I have no sores in my mouth.

Hope her kids still get to go to college.
