I'm trying to figure out whether I should buy a 9" scroll saw or a 12". Just need it for small projects but in researching them, seems the 9" are really not built too well.

I went to the salvage yard recentlywith my M18 impact driver and while more power would be nice, I liked it. I had an 8/10mm flip socket, and have since added a 9/11, 12/14, and 13/15, and short and long hex to 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 adapter extensions which should be pretty handy. My partially off-label (sunex 8/10 and Husky extensions) 106flipset totaled $65, including 3/8 and 1/2 extensions.

What I was missing on that trip for sure were deepwell sockets. So my next purchase might be the Sunex 74pc impact set to complement my SK 44pc chrome 1/4 set. I am looking at the universal sockets, the deepwells, and thinking they will do me a lot of good; just not read to drop a couple hundred until I need them.

Next big purchase will probably be a MIG welder. I like to TIG whenever I can, but sometimes it's just too slow or the metal can't be cleaned enough.

After that will be a chest freezer for the house, since the first one got turned into a kegerator and the second one was turned into a fermentation chamber.

Looking to pick up one of these HVLP sprayer from HF this month. Seems to have some good reviews so I'll give it a try. The coupon for it will get it under $100.

Have a few vintage furniture pieces to paint for the wife plus a bunch of small projects around the new house and garage.

Since you're in the UK, when you refer to a tool "truck" does that mean Snap-on (or Mac or Matco)? Just wondering.

Snap on have the biggest coverage in the UK - most garages (auto shops) have a snap on van that visits. Mac is less common, but still has quite a big presence in the UK. It's probably 80:20 snap on to Mac for truck coverage. Never heard of matco or Cornwell before I came on GJ. We also have some budget tool trucks selling consumables like blue roll, brake cleaner, and HF-like tools from Asia, but they don't offer credit.

Debating on buying this whole set, or just the one I need...

I love having tools, and having a complete set would be nice. But it would probably be 9 months to a year before I needed any others in the set.....

At age 65, I pretty much have all of the tools I'm going to ever need (sad, but true). There's always some specialty tool I'll have a need for. I am looking for a couple large items, though. I'm not a big fan of the metal lathe I have, and keep looking for a deal on something bigger/better. Mine is big enough, but has a few quirks that can't be easily worked around. I'm also casually looking at two post lifts. Casually, because I'm not convinced of the need at this point. I just don't enjoy car work that much any more.

I actually have too many sets of wrenches and sockets, due to bringing my work tools home on my retirement. I'm even a little top-heavy on tool boxes, with 4 chests, two risers, and 4 top boxes. I'm still trying to figure out how to sort the tools I have in a logical fashion. I put about 90% of the tools I need for car work in a HF 5 drawer service cart, as I like working outside.

after a surprise wheel hub failure on the daily yesterday, I decided I want to update my metric swivel impact sockets and universal joint from my HF ones that since the first time I've used the HF swivels, I always turn away from it incase it decides to finally explode. All of my regular impact sockets are Sunex and i've been happy with them, and the cars I regularly work on are all older, so my metric stuff doesn't get used as often these days, but still need to have it.

Also looking for a new orbital sander, might spring for a mid tier dynabrade since I've been having **** luck with IR the last yr or 2 after always being my go-to for air tools

Recite three "Hail Marys" before you turn on that impact gun, lol. Seriously, regardless of the quality of the HF swivel impact sockets, you need a set that you have confidence in. You seem to like Sunex & trust that brand, so that's probably what you should buy now--just for peace of mind.

I need a bigger drill press in the shop and the router in my router table is on its last legs. Could use another cordless circular saw right now I'm sharing one between my work truck and shop tools. Would like to have about four more Dewalt 20v 5AH or 6AH batteries but don't really need those.

My next few purchases will be better toolbox organization, specifically for screwdrivers and pliers.

I'm also looking for a general all-purpose hammer that will last as long as my grandfather's hammer he bought in 1961.

Maybe not a tool per say, but next week my bolt assortment should be showing up. Standard 1/4" to 3/4" and metric 5-16mm in five 40 compartment bins.

i really dont HAVEto have any more tools.

i should probably replace a couple things i lost over the winter, stubby 3/8" dr (1/4"dr body) ratchet and my deep well 1/4" 3/8"dr socket.

i'd like to get a router/router table and an oscillating spindle sander for the occasional wood working project.

last time i used my 30 year old CM "dremel" it really didnt sound very good, and was getting a little warm to hold onto.

Which metric bolt assortment kit did you get. I have been looking too many to choose from.

I had the kits put together by a local supply house. Looking at $2k for everything. Build the kit based on what they normally put together and tweaked it to what I want. I'm sure I could have done cheaper online, but this way I get exactly what fits my needs.

My work bonus is coming in soon so I’m not sure if I want a tool box, inverter generator, or something that throws lead.

What kind of hammer? Depending on what you want, maybe you can find one at a yard sale.

I just snagged a nice 2 or 3lb sledge/wedge head from my Dad. Its got a replaceable wooden handle and its stamped "Germany". I love old axes, hammers, picks, etc. That old-world steel is simply fantastic. And wooden handles keep them alive for decades.

Wow....tough choices you got there. Play your cards well and you could get a lead thrower plus one of the others. :)

I just bought a lead thrower called the "Shockwave" - it was cheap and made me laugh like a giddy schoolboy...NOTHING has made laugh like that before...:bounce:

Just looking for a nice multi-purpose claw hammer for stuff around the house mostly.

I never realized there were so many options to choose from.

Tekton 3/8" drive shallow impact sockets (SAE)
Snap-on flex head ratchet FHLF80A (actually on way via ebay).
And soon as my garage is done, 44" US General tool cabinet from HF (Probably blue!)

I'm just a DIYer but I've always wanted a snap-on ratchet, I seem to love collecting ratchets. Just waiting on a good ebay deal.

Kind of sad my list of automotive tools is getting down to weird stuff that really isn't worth it, DD15 engine barring tool and injector cup tool are on my list but not a real high priority since 1 bad day at work could take them off the list.

I've been hitting a few local auctions lately and grabbed a few things I didn't know were on my list until I bid, picked up a dewalt coil roofing nailer and another 7 planers last weekend because the price was right. Have another one coming up the 30th of this month, an antique dealer is closing their booth at the antique mall and auctioning everything off so most of it will go for more than it's worth to me because it's antique but I'm hoping I can snag a few deals in there.

I think Princess Auto's Lock Ring Plier 14" & 2 5/8's (opening) will be my next victim.

Quick question out of ten how would you rank Tekton's 1/2" ratchets? (Feel, toughness, and crispness of the ratchet is what i care about)
