I use Marvel Mystery oil. Silly name, but I have heard good things about it on other boards.

In all honesty, I really don't think that the brand of oil matters. What matters most is that you oil your tools consistently.

Usually I use either the Lowe's or Home Depot brand air tool oil. Bottle is only $1.50-2.50 and lasts a long time. Not one of those things I see the point in paying a premium to get off the tool truck.

I put 5-6 drops into each tool I've used, before I lock my box and go to lunch. Then I do it again right before I go home. It's important to oil them while sitting for long periods to prevent 'em from rusting internally.

Seems to work pretty well. The exhaust on the nitrocat and all my other air tools always has a bit of oil residue coming out of it. If I use a tool a whole lot I'll stop and oil it.

I think I'd avoid olive oil or any kind of cooking oil for lubrication.
It has a tendancy to gum up over time.

thanks guys were would i get this mystery oil at also how is a recomended way to oil them.....ive herd 2-3 drops at the air inlet of the tool and ive also herd 7-10 drops adn run till clean oil comes out.....whats recommened?

Marvel oil is commonly found in hardware stores and auto parts places. They package it in small bottles for air tool lube and also in quarts and gallons.

No preference here. Whenever someone at work buys air tools,the tool guy always includes a small bottle of oil,we won't run out of air tool oil anytime soon. I usually squirt in 5 or more drops and run the tool until a fog of oil comes out the exhaust.

I really dont think the brand of air tool oil really matters all that much, I mean Cmon, any airtool oil is better than no oil and I know plenty of guys who never oil thier airtools and they keep on goin. I have heard it's a goood idea to run PB blaster air tool cleaner through air tools every once in a while though to clean them out, but mine dont get used often enough. I have no idea how or why I have so much air tool oil aroudn the house though. 2 bottles in the garage, one downstairs and one in the viking drill kit. I only recall buying one of these bottles haha. They really do last forever. In case anybody is wondering, 2 of them are Husky brand, one is kobalt from lowes and the other is made by shell for viking.

Id say go for the husky simply because the spout on the bottle is nice for not making a mess everywhere like most other types. The snap on stuff doesnt smell or look any different than the rest of it and honestly its liek 1/4 as much for 4x the price

napa air tool oil is the only thing ill use on my nitrocat, and its actually what was recommended to me from aircat when i called, thats what they use, so ill use it too. you cant go wrong

I just use non detergent motor oil. I don't think the air tool knows the difference.

I know a lot of you say it doesn't matter but when you are paying top dollar for expensive air tools...it doesn't seem unreasonable to put the best oil through it to perserve them. Even if it makes a small difference

I use Snap-on air tool oil, Paslode airtool oil or Marvel. It depends on where I am and what is close. They all work well.

It's not so much about the arteries as it is... the vanes.

That being said, I have a large-ish bottle of Snappy air tool oil in the garage and a smaller bottle of CH oil in the basement workshop. On occasions I will flood the tools a bit with MM Oil as a means of cleaning them out.

Marvel Air Tool oil, there's a big can in the shop I think was from the 70's.

old timers told me it's not how much you use, 1 drop is plenty, it's how often you use it. seems once a day is commonly recommended by the manufactures.

I also use a little oil can that I got there as well. A quick shot in the tool first thing in the morning and I figure I'm good for the day.
