1) Excellent results. Read the label and CLEAN your stuff thoroughly of loose rust, grease, dirt, etc. before treatment.

2) Holy fudgesnacks Evapo-Rust is EXPENSIVE stuff.

3) It has a limited capacity. Once it goes dark, it can't hold any more rust.

4) Has anyone else perhaps mentioned that it's ridiculously expensive? :shocking:

I love that it's water-soluble, it doesn't harm skin or polymers, it doesn't stink or create vapors, and it's safe to dump down the drain. Effects on other metals can vary; it seems to discolor brass for example. However, it's NOT an acid, so it generally doesn't harm other metals, and it does not continue to eat underlying steel or iron once the rust is absorbed.

But overall, pretty much the only downside is the eye-watering expense and the limited capacity.

Evapo-Rust is great for derusting small, delicate, high-value items. If you have something large, or it's fairly durable or not all that delicate, then a cheaper method might be better.

Rust911 works great for removing rust and its about 1/2 the price of Evapo-Rust!

Comparing the nearly identical marketing ****, it looks like it might be similar chemistry. Not sure -- one difference I note is that they say not to leave your item in the solution.

Evapo-Rust specifically states that it's safe to leave items in solution, and that you can let your item dry with Evapo-Rust on it and it will help protect the item from flash rust.

I've left Evapo-Rust in old motorcycle gas tanks for months until I needed the tank with no issues.

I would like to see proof of this. Terry

Me three. Never noticed ER having any effect on concrete. It's not an acid, so I don't know why it would affect concrete. But then again, I haven't spilled a lot of it, so I dunno.

Has no one tryed rust removal with electrolysis? I have a hardly ever used $50 generator gas tank thats rusty. I got it on the charger right now. The money i would have spent filling the 4gal tank with evapo rust would have made the deal not so much of a deal. So far i have 1/2 s cup of pool PHup into this.

I'm also a big fan of white vinegar....if you have the time required for it to work. I just pulled a metal license plate bracket from the junkyard for the new-to-me vehicle I acquired and it was completely rusted up. I wouldn't have gotten it but it was the only one there and I needed it. I let it sit for three days in a pan of vinegar and it came out as bare metal. Little primer and some Rustoleum hammered black paint and it looks like the day it was made. I'm still mad at myself for not taking before and after pictures.....
