I mostly work on cars/light trucks, I think the snap on t-60 torx was up there around 30-40 bucks.

The most expensive sockets anyone has are the ones that break while you are torquing a head bolt and hit your hand or elbow and have to have ER to fix. Or the one that falls off the extension down inside something (manifold, pump, motor) and spend a half day getting it out because you cannot leave them there. The cost of the socket is nothing compared to the fix when something goes wrong.

I have every size drive and all the sizes in many brands including a full line of Snap-on's. I buy and sell and auction off estates and businesses that have gone under. It is a side line of mine. I have never paid more than $5 for any socket new or used.

I have picked up so many lots of Craftsman that I bet I don't have 33 cents into anyone of them.

I have spend big bucks on axel sockets for 4 wheel drives and huge sockets for my tractors.

I never pay more than $ for a 3/4" drive USA made socket. I have 3 full sets.
I just gave a set to each of my sons.
I have a full set of Wright sockets I picked up last summer at the swap meet.
It was missing only 3 socket to make a full set to 2 inch. I got the metal box, the ratchet, 3 extensions, swivel and w breaker bars for $65. The bloke gave me the wrong change back and they only cost me $50. I did not know it until I counted my money when I got home. I keep close tabs.

The missing sockets were not the inventory list. I got 25 pieces for $50 and only 4 sockets had been used. That makes $2 each including the ratchet.
If you pay $20 for a socket all I got to say is that you will be working tell you die because you will not have any money in your retirement fund.

The most I've ever payed for a socket is each socket in my Snap on metric 3/8dr universal set 11pc 8-18mm and I payed 8 dollars per socket.

He's done it again! All the elements of another literary "gem" are in there. A classic rambling, infused with plenty of bragging, poor grammar and spelling, ultimately punctuated with an insult at the end. Well done sir!

I'd love to use that tool for a team someday..
Matt

Correct, both of you (it's the same gun as all F1 teams use). The specific gun is a 4000MG, speced at 3500Nm of torque @ 20 Bar with compressed air. Think thats about 2500 ft/lbs in US terms, but we run them on nitrogen to get more gas through them and at a higher pressure, so I rev it probably around 20000RPM and maybe 5000Nm. Need strong wrists... :shocking:

Wow that it just bad ***. Are they finicky guns needing a lot of care and maintenance?

How does Paoli compare to Snap-On or Ingersoll-Rand, granted they are each designed for different segments?

What about price?

Got my tool lust all in a bunch now, lol.

Is that the red devil gun? looks like it will run at 12,000rpm...that is crazy....I like the nitrogen tip...I will have to see how one of my snappy ones hold up with that pressure....lol do you know about what one of those guns cost? I did not find any dealers here in the states as of yet...but only looked for a few min.

Not really, theyre a nice bit of kit. For sure we take better care of them than your average impact, but thats the name of the whole game after all.

They cost a measly €4500 a piece, u sure u want one?! :p

Comparing the Paoli to a SnapOn impact is like comparing a Ferrari to a Chevy pickup. Made for 2 completely different things.

No, not a Red Devil, thats the baby gun. This is the big daddy. DP 4000 MG is the full model name.

How much does the Red Devil cost?

Biggest single socket I've actually bought for myself is an Acesa 36mm 3/4" drive impact. I bought it about 10 years ago to do a driveshaft hub nut, used it twice then and never used it since. Well worth the money, as it saved me a great deal of grief at the time. That hub nut had already snapped one ordinary socket and I was hoping a gruntier tool would do the job. Cost about 25 euros, iirc.

My door stop, Snap on
HPIM2416-2.jpg

Nice door stop snapmom. I may just use your idea there.

I don't know my most expensive socket offhand but this is my most expensive adapter. 2-1/2" female -1-1/2" male adapter, IM-95. I did not buy this new but last I checked they were like $333. Was thinking of cleaning and using as a candy dish or pen holder but it would probably be best suited as a door stop too. I don't think I'll be using it on an impact any time soon. :dunno:

Proto professional 5570 3/4 drive 2-3/16 socket. I checked the internet and the most common price seems to be $74.35, some prices are lower and some are higher.

That sounds completely reasonable.:willy_nil

I don't know a lot about matco but I know they rebrand a decent amount of stuff...was that hex socket made in taiwan by any chance?:bounce:

EVERYTHING Matco is rebranded, but I digress...anywords

The most expensive sockets i've bought would be my 1/4 inch snapon short metric swivels(8, 10, 11, 13, and 15) which I believe were around 35 a piece...and then my furd 6 leaker IPR socket...40ish bucks I think

I think the most I paid was around $15 or $20 for a 1/2" drive impact socket for a heavy-duty Pitman arm puller.
