Runoff of the thread here - but on a shed note - it gets pretty cold here in Chicago and I find that the padlock I use freezes up and I can't unlock the shed when I need to. Anyone have any thoughts on how to prevent/is there a better lock to be used?

Get a can of Tri-Flow and soak the heck out of the lock. It's a spray can, black with orange lettering IIRC. Also, maybe a chunk of inner tube / sheet vinyl / something else flexible and water proof to keep the weather off the lock. Good luck. I know your weather, we usually get it a few days later.

PVC slatwall provides the perfect mix of flexibility, strength and resistance to water and chemicals that is perfect for sheds and yard tools. The best part is that when your tools change, so can your storage.

For small areas one or two panels work great to keep everything together.

If you have more room, or a bunch of tools, just add more panels and hooks.

For those trying to have a small footprint, I use these and have found them to be very useful. For $5.95 a piece, I have 3 holding atleast 5 different tools each (shovels, rakes, brooms, hoes, etc.)

I am thinking about building a wooden frame and then attaching some of these. I have a thin metal shed and no place to hang the yard tools in it. This may be my only option. But for under $40 and an afternoon, I may try it.

I ended up a 2x4 across the back wall and used screws to create hangers for the tools.

It works but due to the **** space it's still a chore to get a tool out. One of these days I'll get a bigger shed but it's working for now.
