You guys are missing the boat if you don't check out the Hyudai Santa Fe. I wouldn't recommend the GLS model with the 2.7 v6 but My wife and I are planning on buying a SE model with the 3.3 v6 in Oct. AWD too.

Don't know what to recommend to Stuey because I don't know what his budget is. The Lincoln MKZ might be kinda pricey - don't know for sure. :dunno:

I know one thing though ... I hate economy cars and I don't care much for small SUVs either. Kinda getting tired of mini vans too.

Give me a luxury sedan with descent fuel economy and good acceleration and I'm happy. :)

Maybe $20-25k. For that and other reasons, a luxury sedan is out of the question.

Buick? I guess we have different ideas of what defines a luxury sedan. I would be thinking more along the lines of Audi or BMW... not exactly in the same league as Buick.

I can tell you from first hand experience once you own an Audi, true luxury will be redefined and you will never be able to look at a Buick the same way again.

Don't knock it before you try it. Even the "Driving Gloves" magazines (Motor Trend, Car & Driver) are singing the praises of the new Buicks. The latest MT has an absolutley glowing review of the Lacrosse cxs.

I've got news for you... I've owned an Audi, and it gave me no such problems. I've also owned two VWs and never had any issues with those either. Buy considering you called an Audi a glorified Volkswagen clearly tells me you have never owned one. I guess those Buicks are just glorified Saturn's right?

Besides, according to JD Power and Associates, Jaguar has the highest customer satisfaction ranking with a 5 out of 5 ranking (among the best) and a score of 907 out of 1000. Buick scored 4 out of 5 which coincidentally is the exact same ranking as Audi (better than most), so it seems at least according to JD Power, Audi seems to be just as satisfying to the buyers as Buick.

Then when you consider the average purchaser of a Buick is about 63 years old you soon realize all it takes to satisfy them is a suspension that is so soft you can run over a dead body and never feel it coupled with a seat that is full of more padding than a size 36HHH Victoria's Secret push up bra. I'd suggest the typical Audi owner is slightly more difficult to satisfy, so that tends to put things into perspective.

Oh and by the way... JD Power classifies Buick as a "non-luxury brand" in case you are curious. That was sort of my original point here. Caddy is GM's luxury brand, but Buick doesn't quite fit into the same class.

Granted this is all totally off topic, but I can understand the OP not being able to justify the cost of a true luxury car especially in our current economy.

Funny thing is caddy is still a cheapo GM car with alternate visible trimmings. Components(though some may be upgraded in some way) are interchangeable with their respective cousins from other GM lines. I don't find buick in my idea of luxury, but there are few actual differences between them and Caddy(which I also don't consider luxury)

Funny how these discussions always get off topic.

So how about that F650, am I the only one that wants a 26,000# 11 passenger excursion?

I think they look pretty cool, but I can't say as I would find them useful for my particular lifestyle, and I wouldn't want to have to park the thing. However if money and praticality weren't involved - why not? It would be fun to see the looks on people's faces when they glance over their shoulder to determine if there is enough room for them to squeeze into your lane....right before they panic and slam on the brakes.

I just need enough for 4 passengers comfortably that extra room is more for the Lincoln Air Vantage 500 and another couple thousand pounds of tools and materials.

I'll add another vote for the Escape. The wife's been driving an 08 now for just shy of 6 months and loves it. I'm 6'2: ad 280lbs and I fit in it OK. It carries what she needs to carry and it gets pretty decent mileage. I think she averages about 21-25mpg. The ride quality is nice and the V6 does have a decent amount of power to get you on the highway without repeating the little engine that could.

For great leg room and comfort, I won't give it high marks but it isn't bad for short road trips. For anything longer than a 2 hour trip we take

My 08 MegaCab. Only because it's got so much room to stretch out while I drive that I can truly be comfortable.
