More like fetishes. First up is indicators. Dial, test, digital and old non dial mechanical types. I also have 50 to 70 vises, depending on what is considered a vise. Is a pin vise a vise? I also have a weakness for Lufkin tools. Just a few of the multitude.

Toolboxes and carts. I can't get enough. I have a small Craftsman stack, but the first thing I look at on the Truck brand web sites are the toolboxes and tool carts. Could afford them 10,000 years from next Wednesday, but I still look. I'm currently lusting after the boxes in the 2011/2012 Matco catalog they recently made available online.

I don't really understand the point of having 75 screwdrivers and 30 ratchets....

I love tools just as much as the other guy but I will only buy the the tools I need. I am however in the process of buying more only because I'm matching all the tools I have at work so I don't have to bring any home for when I do side work.

The screwdrivers is easy say you need regualar ones, torx, pozi, hex, various security types, long ones, stubbys, gunsmith(theres endless possibilities here), watch maker, precision, etc.

First would be ratchets, I have more than I can count. It also extends to 1/4" socket sets in metal boxes. I probably have 50 of those. Vises, Clamps, Flare wrenches, quality screwdrivers, pliers in all variations. I am sure theres more too..

Big Old American Vises. A vise vice. Not a great one to have unless you are flipping them...they take up a LOT of valuable garage real estate!

This fuels everything. I care about quality and all, but I also want stuff that looks good. And really, that's what's behind the tool fetish. I have to agree with canukian in that I hate lone stragglers. I gotta have the set and just hope that someday I run into that oddball fastener or whatever that suddenly makes having the extra guys worth it.

That being said, I've had an affinity for ratchets since day one. And I'm always a Knipex plier *****.

But,
Current love-lust of the month for me are Hazet wrenches.

I have a slight thing for Williams superwrenches.I have 5 or 6 in some sizes
Now that I think about it, I keep getting USA made Vise grips everywhere I go. Swapmeets, garage sales, inlays, outlaws. I have about 60 or so in all. I just got 4 Visegrip welding clamps from my wifes grandfather. Sweet. Still covered with slag and patina. I think I will put 2 into rotation and put the other 2 away for my 2 boys.

I buy all sorts of tools. I usually pick the old, made in USA stuff. I've been picking up specialty tools for fairly cheap. Alot of sellers don't know what they are for and don't recognize the brands. Stuff matching doesn't really matter. Having the right tool is what is important to me.

Ratchets/sockets, screwdrivers and vise grip pliers seem to be my current addictions. I was pretty happy when I managed to find a pair of USA made 7" Vise Grips in a local hardware store...buried behind all of the made in china ones.

Looking at my stuff I do seem to have quite a few old sets of British made pliers.
There's a local secondhand tool sales place close to me that does house clearances when people die, there's all sorts of random stuff turn up but everyone has a few sets of pliers so there's always a few sets in there.

At a about quid per set I can't resist if they are good quality and don't rattle at the joints.

Plus I kind of like giving old tools that have served someone well for many years a good home.

Diagonal cutters lately. Bought 3 in the last 2 months, klien, channellock and snappy 87cf, I wanted to compare all three to see which is best. Have not found knipex at good price yet so I cannot compare. In my line where I cut a lot of copper and conductors I have to say the kliens 2000 are by far the best of the three. I buy tools for my boys as well, so I always find a way to justify buying, it gives a rush!

Hi my name is james, and i am a toolaholic, im glad i found this thread, is there a 12 step progam. My thing is old ratchets, i have 64 of them, last weekend i bought a WALDEN refridgeration ratchet from the 30s. I know its a problem,and i keep them in the bottom drawers of my box at home so i wont have to try and explain whats going on. But sometimes i wonder about when im gone, and people start going thru my stuff, they are going to say WTF, was wrong with this guy, LOL...
