I realized this morning while sitting on my back porch with my coffee and phone, listening to the kitties munch on their food, that I've learned so much here in the last five years from all of you.

I grew up with a pretty solid automotive background and have never been shy about getting dirty, but the knowledge I've gained beyond things with four wheels can mostly be attributed to the varied expertise, subjects, and real-world experiences shared by the members here. I've learned about tools, processes, tips, tricks, time savers, new products, and SO many things I never knew about before that I just had to say Thank You. You've provided the push that makes me realize I'm no longer intimidated by electrical, plumbing, HVAC, concrete, etc., and am more willing to jump in and try it on my own now than I ever was in the past.

I used to sit out here and surf the regular brain-wasting known as FaceBook. Now I find myself here every morning ... and I really dig it. Ya all have gone above and beyond to expand my world whether you realize it or not, and mere words can never really convey what you mean to me.

You guys rock!!! Thanks for letting me be a little part of it. << hugs >>

That's how I ended up here. Every time I had to do a job, I'd search the internet for advice. After a while, I noticed that all the best advice came from this forum.

We are in the same boat. Found this site well over a year ago while looking for gas fed fire pit ideas online. I now find myself on here several times a day.

I started on GJ a few years back, and the amount of time I've spent reading incredibly interesting projects and making mental notes of codes, processes, materials, etc, etc, is astounding. The wide reach of professionals, DIYers, and even crazys on here is fantastic. If the recent trend of "my mechanic ripped me off" and "woes of my life" threads would curtail, I'd say GJ is a nearly perfect forum with mostly appreciative and knowledgable folks.

The ONLY downside is the amount of money I've spent on better or I-might-need-it-one-day tools... I've just learned to steer clear of the deals threads to avoid buying another miller 211... That may or may not exist. :)

Cheers!

I agree the amount of knowledge on this forum is incredible and helpful.

I'd also like to say I like the fact the moderators do an EXCELLENT job of keeping folks in line (I REALLY like the no politics or religion rule), though it seems like most members can play nice without too much intervention.

There is so much info on GJ to read and learn that people get so overwhelmed by it all....they sometimes forget their PM inbox will only hold 500 PM's . Then, their inbox locks down and will not take any more incoming PM's. Just a reminder to anyone that may have this problem and not know it.....

I agree too. I don't post a whole lot, but I'm always reading. Incredible wealth of knowledge here!

:D ... sorry Greg. After a notification about a missed one due to a full in box, I cleared it out and made room. I hope you didn't waste a bunch of time. If you saved it, there is room now.

Thanks for that too Mike.MSC. It means a lot. < curtsey >
