That is b/c it is the new version. They are OK, but nothing compared to vintage c-man.

They are terrific ratchets. I don't know about $50+ shipped, but they are one of the better vintage designs.

Six days to go and it is already at $20 shipped, even though it has prominent engraving. I just picked up one of these at the flea recently and it is in much nicer condition.

Well, strictly IMHO, but, a couple auctions does not a trend make. Those ratchets aren't reliably worth anything near that - what'cha got here are two bidders caught up in a war for whatever reason. I mean they're great ratchets and I'll recommend them any day over most anything out there, but cripes...

I also don't quite agree with the belief that the "new" versions (branded for several different brands) aren't as nice as the old Craftsman ones. Yes, the newer ones I have aren't quite as smooth as the Craftsman ones I've had since the early '80's, but they also haven't been used like all get-out and broke in like my Craftsman ones either. Give 'em time and use and I'm confident they'd break-in just as well.

Holy mud, I just looked at what those two auctions ended at - that's insane! Two bidders with big wads of cash to burn....

I bought a new 1/2" version last year and it is an A+ ratchet. My dad still has the 1/2" he had when I was a little boy 40 years ago and it still works great. I really can't tell any difference between the two.

I have one of those great old Craftsman 1/2 ratchets, non-flex type. 25 years old or so. Still in near-new shape. Anyone interested? I could use a 3/8 swivel head SO (not flex head).

$73, WOW, but it looks almost new. I don't have any RHFT Craftsman, but I have the V selectors and they are much smoother than the new ratchets.

Do you have a picture? Not sure what it is but if it is the one I am thinking of it probably is not.

Yeah, take a look at the non-winning bidders and what percent of bids they placed with that seller. If the number is a little high chances are it's a shill bidding scumbag.

If you guys don't know I it could be a collector. Craftsman has made that style of ratchet for 40 years and there are I believe 4 different handle stampings and that one is hard to find and is in good shape. I won't spend that knid of money but I like those ratchets none the less.
