Yuasa and Kanon vernier calipers, how do they stack up?

I just picked up a Yuasa 7" and a Kanon 18" for cheap money, both made in Japan. How do these stack up to the big guys like Mitutoyo, Starrett, and Brown and Sharpe? I've never head of them before, and honestly would have been happy with a $2 HF version for what I use them for.
