Howdy,
I have found this forum to be very helpful, so i've decided to post up my project as well.

My wife was wanting to move into town to be closer to friends and so our 3 yr old could play with others, etc. I told her ok, if you find a house that will allow me to work on my cars, etc.

My old shop in the country:

I thought it was a long shot, but she found the perfect place for us:

drive way is huge:

2 car garage, and a 3 car garage both designed into the house. The 3 car has its own heating/ac system, bathroom, and is wired for a shop.

It had been turned into a game room with carpet floors. I have a thread on here where i got rid of the carpet and glue, put down epoxy floor. Painted the walls, and am still working on it. Bought some cabinets, shelves, etc from sam's club (very happy with the quality and price).

current progress:

nicknamed the "Dance Studio" by a friend (being pretty and all)

still cleaning, organizing and setting up the shop. Got some good stuff done this weekend.

still to do: insulate the garage door, assemble & mount some wall cabinets, "decorate" - hang posters and banners, other misc tool stuff.

setup air compressor, get a small parts washer, other stuff surely to come.

then i can start on the back log of projects

working in AC is nice

James

At some point, you will splatter some used oil on the wall and lust for a moment for your old shop in the sticks. And then you will get mad for a while. But remember, the first chip in the paint of a new car tells you it is OK to really drive the snot out of her. And the first gooey mess in your shop will tell you it is OK to seriously thrash on your rides. Your a lucky guy. Five car garage complex and a wife that understands.

I've already messed a few things up moving things around, etc - i plan on using this shop. As long as the epoxy doesn't start flaking up i'll be happy :)

Oh - and the wife used to be into cars as well, auto-xed with me etc. But, we have 2 kids and she is a mom now and drives a minivan.

Are those cabinets on wheels the ones you bought at Sam's Club? Could you take a picture of one open? They look very nice !

Yes the cabinets are from Sam's club, made be Seville Classics (sp?). about $180 each and are built fairly well - much cheaper than the ones at lowe's, etc.

I'm a car nut, but i have a full time job that gets in the way (i'm an engineer)

I've done many car builds, and have done some for others as well. The rx7 is a friends and i swaped an ls1 / t56 into it, etc. The IROC is mine and has an ls1, the el camino is awaiting an ls1 and the it is for sale (it's my dads).

some photos and videos of my "racing team" that i ran for awhile : www.BubbaDrift.com
