Time to order doors & openers for my 36' X 60' shop. Will probably go with insulated steel sectionals (need four of them).

The door tracks will follow the roof line up, to allow for two lifts inside. In my prior shop, we used the LiftMaster 3800 openers, four of them. Never had a problem with any of them, but have now of course read the tales of them & 8500 models failing. Appears the commercial series LiftMaster units are ok.

Recently came across the Zap openers. Hardly a mention of them here though. Any reports of their quality & reliability? They are made in England, which fits well with a few of my British sports cars.

Another option could be to use roll up doors, with an opener on one, (for a regularly driven car) and the other three manual chain openers.

Thoughts?

In a home shop I like my electric door, but if I had multiple doors in project bays I don't think I would need them in all bays. If you're doing 4 doors, I would install one opener, then play it by ear. If you find you need another do it later. It's not something that is cheaper or easier during construction.
