Hey GJ, my name is Zach and I just purchased my first home. It's a ranch-style house with an attached two car garage (22 x 22). Growing up we never had a garage and it's always been a goal of mine to have one and make it my own. I have big plans for this garage and thought it would be a good idea to document the journey on this forum.

The previous owner left the garage in decent shape. It's got some older wooden cabinets throughout, a makeshift workbench in the back, a central vac in the back right corner, and some wall racks for hanging things. The lighting is relatively new and definitely illuminates the space well. The floor is in decent shape and there is a recessed drain in the center.
My goal for this garage is to create a user-friendly workspace that's organized and efficient and allows me to work on a variety of automotive/household projects.
Initial Improvement Plans:
This project will be a slow and steady progression and I will update as much as I can. I'm sure I'll find tons of ideas and inspiration on this site and I will update the improvements list as I go.
Thanks for looking!

Initial Improvement Plans:
- Remove old cabinets and workbench
- fix sheetrock on back and left side walls
- setup new workbench area along back wall
- fix and apply coating to floor
- new storage cabinets (suggestions welcome)
- new toolbox (tall and slim or short and wide?)

I was ecstatic because I knew that with a little time and effort I could get it back into operable condition. We loaded both boxes onto the trailer and brought them home.
