ZERKS for oiling machinery?

I've got a Marvel #2 Draw cut saw in pieces. The manual calls for using OIL and not grease as the grease wont transfer all the way across the drive rod and bronze bushing.
The machine was all gunked up with grease. I can see why since all the maintence points have zerks but are clearly NOT for grease.
Is there an old time oil gun made to fit on these zerks?

Is it an actual zerk, or the spring loaded ball? A regular pistol grip oiler is used for the balls.

The oil points with a ball bearing in them, (they are usually smooth sided rather than having a round end like a grease ******), are designed to be used with a standard oil gun. You push the ball in with the tip of the nozzle and then oil away.

Will check those zerks again tonight. Still trying to figure out how to get the grease out of the drive shaft. Going to have to force some purple power through there somehow. Other wise the oil will never get to the bronze bushings

The zerks look to be regular zerks, maybe a bit smaller but they arent the smooth sided caps.
Going to see if I can rig up a new grease gun to hold kerosene so that I can flush out all the grease and then oil.

One time I filled a grease gun hose with penetrating oil, then hooked it to the grease gun and pumped it using the grease to force the penetrating oil into the part

Not sure how old this saw is, but a lot of times there were just caps that unscrewed, you put oil in then put cap back on. When the caps got lost zerk fitting "fit"

We had a machine at work that had to have oil pumped into a reservoir cylinder under pressure thru a zerk. Special guns were made for this and expensive. We used one of those small handheld grease gins that take the 1" round grease tubes and just filled the gun with hydraulic oil in place of the grease tube. Leaked a little but worked. By the way, the zerks had an o-ring in them to seal the ball and keep the oil in. McMaster has them. And as above, even with stickers to use only oil, someone was always filling them with grease.

Machine tools producing metal chips are generally oiled rather than greased since grease will trap metal chips and increase wear on bearing surfaces. Many machines use typical oil cups with flip tops or spring-loaded balls but some use fittings similar to greases zerks. On these, pressure oilers such as the ones pointed out by large g, above, are used. Many fine machine tools have been ruined by unknowing operators forcing grease into oil fittings. Chips abrade the ways and get into bearings and in many cases, grease will not reach all lube points.

So, I went down to the hardware store and while I was there I saw they had an industrial grade....... grease gun. I put oil in it without any modifications and it worked great.
Problem is, the oil leaks out the tip Im sure there's something I can change the tip with. I'll let you guys know what happens.
Oh yes, the grease gun filled with oil pumped ALL the grease out of the machine.

Does this leak just setting around or just while your using it? When sitting with the handle in the closed position it should seal the the barrel closed. You could also plug the end with a zerk that has the hole closed. If push comes to shove you could get a spring loaded check valve and install it near the coupler. I'd look for one with a given cracking pressure of a few pounds. Like a Parker http://ph.parker.com/us/en/general-purpose-check-valve-c-series/c200s-v

good luck.
