I really like the non polished finish of the Hazet set, not so much the price tag. Unless maybe someone knows where I can get a super duper good deal on a set.

Who else makes zero offset double box end wrenches?

I love my Gearwrench ones, got 8-25mm for like, ~200 dollars. Used them a ton at work and they are probably my favorite wrench purchase next to my Carlyle DBE flex ratcheting wrenches.

Should have mentioned looking for non ratcheting.

I primarily will be using these for breaking nuts and bolts free, then switch over to a ratcheting wrench/socket+ratchet/fingers to remove.

I've always wanted a nice set of XLs but I've never had a reason or use for em. I mostly just thought they would look great in my box

Amazon.de has the Hazet 610/8 set for just under $100 shipped. That is quite a bit less expensive than USA sourced Hazet.

I bought a set of KTC from Frank's Tools: https://www.frankstools.com/ktc-boxed-end-wrenches.html

M1603 was the PN, it included 8x10, 12x14, and 17x19. I added on a 13x15 to fill in. These are extra long double box end, zero offset. I don't see the set on Frank's website, but you can send him an email, or PM him (he's a member here). Tone also makes them, in some of the sizes that KTC doesn't, like 16x18. Frank can probably get those, as well.

Gearwrench XL is similar, but includes a ratcheting end. You can get 8-15mm, I love mine for a myriad of jobs. One of my best buys ever.

Thanks for all the help guys but I guess I should have also mentioned in first post looking for standard length wrenches. I find when I try to break bolts with long/x-long wrenches I end up often twisting the head off or stripping the head. I prefer a small wrench and a hammer.

Amazon.de has the Hazet 610/8 set for just under $100 shipped. That is quite a bit less expensive than USA sourced Hazet.

Link? Found some cheap sets on Amazon Germany but none that cheap?

You are my hero. Never owned Hazet before but I assume it's a premium brand? Haven't found another manufacturer that makes double ended zero offset box wrenches in standard length. Have seen Hazet mentioned many times in my travels on GJ. Any advice on ordering from Amazon.de or do I have to use a forwarder?

Anyone know the difference between the 610N/8 and the 610N/8RS? Is it just the case?

I also have the Cornwell SAE's, beefy wrenches that you can apply some serious torque to. I have Matco from 10-19mm and they're okay, you could probably do better. I have a Snap-On 21/22 that is top notch but about as expensive as wrenches can get.

Looked into the Cornwells, they are Xl in length right? I'm after standard length.

In my search for Hazet on Amazon.de and ebay, I have also come across "GEDORE" that makes standard length double box sand finish wrenches.

Anyone have any experience with GEDORE?

The Proto options will be closer to the length you want, across the board they're shorter than the tool truck offerings.

Just type Hazet 610N/8 on the search at amazon.de.

Yes, the 610N/8RS includes the wrench holder.

Just order as normal, nothing special. Sometimes it is worthwhile to pay for one of the more expensive shipping options as they will provide tracking info.

Will check Proto again only had offset when I breifly checked earlier, but leaning towards the Hazet set.

drtyler, amazon.de was showing including vat at 93.34 euros, 78.44 excluding vat, which it didn't do till I went to the final payment page.

Is that the pricing you saw?

Shipping is a killer, but still cheap, works out to about $120 USD before my CC exchange rate fees. Might have to buy some more Hazet to make up for the shipping...

Found the Protos, missed them earlier because they aren't sold as a set, only individually. Only goes down to 10mm though, between that and the polished finish, Hazet is taking the cake.

Those prices seem correct. The VAT will be removed from final cost if you are not in Europe.

When I checked earlier, it was slightly less than $100 shipped to Atlanta, GA, but that was using the least expensive shipping method.

You can also elect to pay Amazon.de in USD, it may be cheaper than the CC fee. There should be a selection box for that on one of the screens.

I would go with the stahlwille 21/7 or the Hazet 610. Both are high quality, satin finish and great beam profile. I'm not sure the 610 have surface drive / off corner engagement though, I'm pretty sure the 21/7 does.

I was also using the least expensive shipping method, maybe you were looking at a different link for the same part? Can you PM me the link? I picked the set sold by Amazon.

Going to try and find a nice metric flare nut wrench set to save some shipping costs.

turnthewrench thanks for the link the the Stahlwille, was actually just on their site trying to find their zero offset box wrenches. That set starts at 8mm whereas the Hazet starts at 6mm, but it is QUITE a but cheaper than the Hazet. Decisions decisions.

Skimming GJ threads I read that the Stahlwille ratchets are smoother finished than the Hazet ratchets, is this also true for wrenches?

In that case I would definitely go with Hazet, I want as rough as a wrench as possible for more grip. I hate polished slippery tools.

Both great tools. Just a matter of personal liking. Stahlwille has a 10 pcs set, btw.

Would you happen to know if the finish of the two brands do differ in their wrenches?

Have any experience with GEDORE? Their website is down right now so not sure what they have to offer.

I managed to save PDF of the Stahlwille catalog, that interactive online **** was brutal.

I have combination wrenches from all three. All are chromed, but none are polished like Snap-on or SK. None have what I would call a rough finish either. Hazet and Gedore call their finish satin chrome.

They are all competent tools that hold up well and turn fasteners. If a comparable Stahlwille set is less expensive than the Hazet set, that would be enough to sway my decision. Hazet advertises the offset heads of the 610N wrenches as a useful design, but it may or may not be useful in actual use. I don't own any, so I cannot say.

I would assume the difference in shipping costs from Amazon.de depend on the final location of delivery.

S for Satin? As do I. :)

Can you compare your Gedore wrench finish with your Stahlwille?

I'm always curious, so I figure I'd ask what are you working on? I sometimes find the long/xlong is the only thing that works as there's no way I'm swinging a hammer with enough force when working on most the cars I do.

Not trying to sway your decision, just get a little insight. Those stahlwille look nice and get my vote, excellent tools and those prices seem great.

Stahlwille finidh is better than gedores, smoother satin and far more durable, about best plating I come across on wrenches and sockets, tactile and wear durable yet easy wipe clean .

I've decided on the Stahlwille set. Reason being is though I do see the minor advantage of the offset Hazet design, at the end of the day the Stahlwille can fit in smaller and more spaces due to their design, and that for me wins.

Yarpo, I mostly work on small Japanese and German imports, hobby use, but I wrench a lot so the bargain stuff doesn't really do it for me. Been wrenching for 14 years so I've pretty much figured out what works for me. I do live in the rusty North East though, that really affects things.

rhys99 thanks for the link, but I'm in North America and shipping kills the deal tools-giant has.

Mr_B, how did you conclude the plating more durable on Stahlwille than Gedore?

Smoother Satin is not necessarily better, that's up to preference. :)

1. 30+ years of using it and most other top brands
Stahlwille still looks the best, way way better than snapon chrome

2. I think stahlwille better in sense those who like polished find it acceptable and those who prefer the dry satin still find it acceptable .
From real world use I found the stahlwille plating great from all perspectives .
Some more rough/dry satin platings not so durable and not so good at corrosion prevention .

I too work on lot of Jap cars and stallwille wrenches shine on the hardware and space these vehicles give you .

Can you post pics of your KTC are these made in Japan?

Also, do they have slick mirror finish?

Great choice. I kinda wanna buy them now too but should resist.

I work on German imports and reach for my long double box wrenches first and foremost on pretty much everything, which is why I asked. Space has not been an issue and the extra length has been great to me, but as you said everyone works differently. Happy shopping!

No kidding? I figured with the added length of that design the flank drive broaching would really come into it's own. Dang I wish I could afford a metric set of those.

For SAE work my old Utica's do the job.
