Ferris and Toro offer models with suspension systems...pricey, but nice.

+10 on Ferris with suspension.......they have multiple models from home owner to professional grade. Suspension is well worth it.....almost a must have once you tried it:D

With that much property I would think a sub-compact 4WD utility tractor would make much more sense than a zero turn mower which is all it is capable of is mowing. A tractor makes much more sense than just buying a mower. You can get many of the compact utility tractors with mid-mount mower decks. Kubota, JD, etc. all make great tractors, and they'll last forever, heavier duty decks as well so far less issues down the road with wear problems.

Sure a zero turn will do the job, but with that much property I'd think there would be far more things that a regular tractor would be much more handy for.

Zero turns work best on flat level ground. Not good on bumpy ground.

If it is rough (like a pasture) you don't want a zero turn.

I own a very similar configuration of property in VA .... 5 acres with 3.5 to 4 acres in grass to be cut. I've got a zero turn Skag Tiger with a 61" mower deck. Works great. I would have recommended a minimum deck size of 60" for that size lawn, but since he has already made a purchase it now becomes a moot point.

I see he already bought the Kubota, nothing wrong with that, but for people looking in the future, I'll throw out another name that hasn't come up yet, Bob-Cat. No, not that Bobcat, Bob-Cat. I had never heard of them, but they are very popular here, probably because of the local dealer, but I would guess that over half of the local pros are using them. They had a model that met my wants and needs (I was afraid of consumer grade hydraulics, because I'm a fat ***), and their XRZ is kind of a pro model with a homeowner Kawasaki engine. www.bobcatturf.com. Oh, and the 6 year warranty doesn't hurt either...
