Raw T111 really ***** up the paint. Forget about what the label says about coverage. Figure 200 ft +- Also, use at least a 3/4 to 1 inch lambskin roller & a 5 gal bucket with a grid screen, don't forget to paint the grooves with a brush. You didn't mention the area , but if it's a lot, use an airless then roll it in. Don't be dainty about it, just put it on.
Also, it's a little transparent- as long as you have good coverage don't worry about seeing thru it.

I’ve never had good luck with zinsser. I’ve used it multiple times and could never figure out why anyone still recommends it.

I use glidden gripper primer. I’ve always been happy with the results.

‘Seeing through’ a primer is fine as long as the surface is covered. Primer won’t cover the substrate. The first paint coat won’t cover. The second coat evens everything out and you’ll be fine

Primers lock in and adhere to the base, and block bleeding. Not cover with a solid look

Gripper was good but I have used zinsser for many years as a pro painter. Bin primer for smoke damage, oil cover stain for everything, then loved the water based version when it came out.
JDsac hit it spot on. I would have used water based cover stain instead of 123 but both are good. 123 has a sheen and cover stain is flat. Primers surprisingly don't hide what is under it, but the finish will. Most people don't use enough paint. The roller cover won't splatter much when it has enough paint. Lambs wool covers are all I used for full size rollers. An airless is great if you are good at masking or controlling the gun and a spray shield. T-111 really *****!

If isn't new siding I typically figure a gallon will cover about 3 sheets of true t1-11 siding. When I painted my last house it ended up that it would have been almost a wash cost wise to do vinyl siding because I used 20+ gallons of primer.

years ago my father built a garage with T111 and left my mom and I to paint while he went to work. 8 Hours later we hadn't even finishes a 8X24 wall because the wood just soaked in the paint.
So when my dad got home, he gave me an old paint sprayer for cars, mixed the paint half and half with water and I dont know how, or why, but that made a huge difference. The coverage was so much better.
