Hi all,

My name is Ben Ferguson. I am the Managing Director of a Smith & ARROW - we sell abrasives around the world.

Recently we put up some of our INOX grade Ultra-Thin Cutting Wheels free of charge for testing on your Forum and received some excellent feedback: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19358

A big thankyou to those who were kind enough to take the time to test them and report back.

I would be very interested to get some feedback from members involved in the Metal Fabrication industry in the US on Zirconia Linishing Belts. We are looking at including this product in our online range in the US and would be very interested to hear from your members about:

1/ What SIZE belts they use
2/ What GRITS they use
3/ What they currently pay for their Zirconia Linishing Belts

Any ideas to assist us with our research would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

I'm ASSuming these are just plain sanding belts? If so, I run 4x36" belts, and am looking at getting a 1" one, also. I usually run 36 grit, sometimes up to 120 grit, but I deal mainly with steel. As for price, I buy mine from Enco.com.

Thanks Nissan_Crawler.
The product we are looking at launching is mainly used in Stainless Steel fabrication workshops - and as such is always Zirconia. These belts are used as a quick and neat way to finish Stainless and / start the polishing process. The primary sizes used in Australia and NZ are 915mm x 50mm. Anyone here got any good contacts with Stainless Fabrication shops in the US? Or even Stainless Fabrication forums?

I use belts in 2" 2.5" and 4" by 60" on my three Burr King belt machines (one 3 wheel machine 760 and 2 two wheel model 960's one 2.5" and the other 4.0") I use them on steel, cast iron and stainless. In 40 to 120 grit.

Ben,
You might want to check with some of the knifemaking sites. I know some of those use that type of belt, or maybe try Metal Artist Forum.

I would just like to find something simple like the 2" hook and loop sanding disc that fit on the Harbor Freight new little DA air sander.
