Cam, I looked at kits from Delta kits but their basic kit that I wanted was just $610.00. The kit I ended up purchasing was from Amazon for $299.00. It states it will do 100 windshield repairs which should be plenty for many years for my stable of vehicles.

That being said, I didn't particularly care for the UV light in the kit I purchased. It is powered by two AA batteries and I don't think it has enough output or pattern to cure properly. I ended up purchasing a 110vac UV light from Delta kits for $90.00 plus a suction cup mirror for $8.95 and now have a very similar kit as the one I was looking at for $610 for around $400.00 total.

Also a UV light is not necessarily required as you could always just pull the vehicle into the sun and cure naturally but I wanted the UV light for two reasons, firstly I wanted to be able to do the repair in my shop and not in the driveway, secondly much of the time I am working in the shop after dark and won't have the sun as an option. Having a UV light eliminates both of those scenarios.

Excellent info. Thanks Mike!

You are very welcome Cam. Hope it is helpful.

Very helpful as always buddy. Now I gotta choose between a tool I have a need for or the new sets of toptul wrenches I just want.......because, for next weeks spending spree. :dunno: :bounce:

Decisions, decisions. Just buy both and problem solved.;)

Ya know I've been contemplating this logic all afternoon Mike. And for the life of me I can't seem to find any flaws in it what so ever. I think you're right. I'm gonna go ahead and order those wrenches tonight before someone else snatches up the deal (which would be my luck).

That way next week in my spare time I'll just look for a deal on the other, yaaa-thats what I'll do. Thanks for sharing such omniscient wisdom.:bowdown::bowdown:

Well I don't know about that last part Cam but I'm flattered.

When purchasing tools, equipment or parts and contemplating what the wife will say I have long been using the philosophy that it is easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission. [emoji41]

Arrived home tonight and started to work on another small item that was on my white board. I need a small stand or table for my press accessories next to my hydraulic press. I figured I would use a few more pieces of thin wall square tubing from my metal rack.

Pieces cut and ready to mock up.

The two sides clamped together awaiting welding.

Should be able to finish it up in the morning.

Completed a few more tidbits in the shop today. First up was to finish my stand or table for hydraulic press accessories.

Loaded and ready for years of use and abuse.

Next task for the day was my new quick release quill handle. This was a Bridgeport knockoff but was made in the good ole U.S. of A.
b81b7cfa3a05e2e69a5d4deac9068429.jpg

Unfortunately, it was not a direct bolt on deal. I had to disassemble it and bore the ID out .020" so it would fit. No big deal though.

Installed and works great. AND I was able to use my lathe today.[emoji4]

While I had a slight mess in the fabrication area of the shop I thought I would knock another quick job off my white board "to do" list. I cut the pieces for a handle for my Stihl shop vac. I love this shop vac but it is awkward to move around the shop because the handle is at a weird angle as well as being quite low and having to bend way over while rolling the vacuum across the shop.

Part way done.

Sitting here on my deck with my wife watching a thunderstorm roll on past with a fair amount of lightning and saw a beautiful rainbow appear just east of us on the mountainside.

I wish we had neighbor hoods like that here. The houses are always on top of each other

I’ll probably be moving out to middle of no where just for that reason. I like my privacy and would like a decent size yard. I like the way your neighborhood is though you still have your own space

Thanks. I too love how even though I'm still in a subdivision, I have a lot of space without feeling cramped.

On your Duramax how are your rockers? Reason I ask is I now have holes in mine. Started out last year as a few rust spots and now have full holes. Was wondering if this was an issue for your or no? Mine is a 2006 that lives outside. Unfortunately its never had a spot inside as its a CCLB. I didn't see anything on your Youtube about that type of problem.

handle for shopvac? just do what about 99% of everyone does. kick it or drag it by the hose to move it around.

I guess this is where I am in that 1% group and don’t like dragging mine by the hose and definitely not kicking it.

This is going to work perfect.

No issues with rust thus far on this truck. I had a little on my 1986 Suburban that I owned prior to this one that I had to cut out and replace but it was 16 years old with 200k miles by the time I tore it down to rebuild.

My son’s 2002 LB7 is still pretty sound as well and his just turned over 228k miles.

My 2006 lived outside at our last place and has for the 8 years I have owned it until now when I can finally park it inside at our new place. That should help prolong its life immensely.

Thanks for following my projects thread.

My wife and I have been away for a week wheeling in Moab with a group of RVing/Jeeping friends.

Weather started off cold, wet and even some snow last Sunday and Monday but the remainder of the week was absolutely beautiful with daytime temps in the mid-70’s.

Our campsite at OK RV Park with a great view of the red rock canyon wall to the south of us.

The first day we ran Hell Roaring Rim trail and yes, that’s snow in the picture.

Airing up on Debinky Well Road trying not to get my air hose covered with mud. Then it was straight to the car wash to get the several inches of mud off my Jeep.
064e84effc724c5e41f10613d2452939.jpg

Completely different story Tuesday on Gold Bar Rim. Not dry and dusty but very, very little mud at all. My wife and I were tail gunners on Gold Bar Rim.

My wife wasn’t too happy with me on this one. Coming back out of Gold Bar Rim climbing the waterfall I got my right front off the ground a bit before the driver’s rear caught and started climbing then brought my right front down. Wife completely freaked out as she was standing up on the hill taking pictures.

Small arch we walked out to on Dome Plateau.

Overall a great trip and a great way to spend a week, wheelin’ with friends.

The rally technically came to a close today as it ran Sunday to Sunday but today in Moab was supposed to be wet and very windy so after we came off the trail yesterday afternoon we broke camp and headed for home. We left Moab at 4:45pm and rolled into our driveway @ 9:45pm. We figured this way I could get our yard work done this morning and get the coach washed and parked before the work week begins tomorrow.

Glad we pushed on to home last night as I was able to get everything done today and can now relax. Trimmed, edged and mowed my lawns this morning then pressure washed the undercarriage of the coach, washed the body, chamoised it and parked it in the shop. The coach was absolutely filthy both outside and underside from the hellacious rain storm we traveled down in last weekend.

Gave my new Stihl RB600 a hell of a break in today. This thing is sweet and is so much more quiet than my old Craftsman/Briggs pressure washer.
cdebfa2ffed60c0404e663d3aad9782e.jpg

Battery tray was filthy but turned out great.
0fe9807e1fafe4390826b58308eeae1a.jpg

Engine bay turned out awesome as well. I really need to get to my new surge tank project one of these days, soon.

Hey Mike swing by Minnesota and wash mine. Got home last week from Prairie Dog Hunting in Mobridge SD. Drove home in 8 hours of rain. Haven't had time to wash mine inside and out yet.

Looks like you had fun...!!!

I'm not gonna lie, I knew the front end was going to come up and was prepared for it, just NOT quite that far up.;) There was definitely a little pucker factor there.

It's funny though, these things always will go a bit further than you feel comfortable with.

Sorry Pat, one and done. Took me about 4 hours yesterday to wash the undercarriage and the body including taking a chamois to the entire coach. Sure looked good when I backed her back into the shop but that was a lot of work and up and down the ladder about 40 times.

That road spray has a way of finding its way into every nook and cranny though, doesn't it?

Thanks for stopping by my projects thread Pat.

Looks like time for a four-link and springs :D

It's nice to see all the work and time you put into a Jeep come through. Stock Jeeps are pretty tough, but they have their limits ... I'd say yours hasn't been met yet.

Mike you could look at di filters for your final rinse. I used them when detailing. Also use a garden hose, take the sprayer off and allow the water to sheet off. You’ll spend a lot less time drying that way.

Di filters are awesome. No water spots even on glass usually

Thanks. I have a lot of time and effort put into that thing and I know I will never push it to its limits as far a capabilities. It is overbuilt for what I will ever push it to.

When we pulled into the campground last weekend the guy next to me came over to talk Jeeps and he asked me if this was my first time to Moab and if I had ever taken our Jeep off road before now. I told him it spends a lot of time off-road and he said "oh, you must do the easy 2.0 trails then because there's no dents or damage." My wife said she thought I was going to tell him to piss off but I thought that was the best compliment he could have given me. I regularly do 3.0-3.5 rated trails with some 4.0's mixed in there and so far so good as far as damage in the past 6 years I've had my Jeep. And the three Jeeps previously were sold undamaged as well after owning Jeeps since 1993. Granted I've had a few close "scrapes" and a few minor scratches that I have had to polish out upon returning home, but nothing major thank goodness.

Granted I don't do 4+ rated trails because I don't want damage. I have been called some not very flattering names by some of my co-workers because I won't run trails such as Rusty Nail and some of the ones in Area BFE but that is because body damage and/or breakage is pretty much guaranteed.:eyecrazy: I guess I can live with that because my wife and I have a blast in our Jeep and I also use it as my daily driver, whereas my co-workers use theirs about 2-3 times a year and when they do they either roll them or bust them up so bad that they spend a small fortune and several months repairing them just so they can do it all over again.:headscrat

Thanks. I have been looking at some filtering options and/or putting together a reverse osmosis system for washing my vehicles a couple of year ago but just haven't had the time. Now that I am all settled into my new place I think I am going to resume my homework and put something together before spring.

To completely wash and chamois it takes me a while.

https://crspotless.com That’s what I had

Sheeting wAter helps more than you might think. When you use a hose nozzle you’ll have a million droplets of water hitting the surface. When you remove the nozzle you’ll have a steady stream of water. A good sealant helps too. I’m a collinite 845 fan

Thanks. I agree with the sealant. I’m a Meguiars #21 fan myself but don’t have anything on the new paint on the coach yet.

I have quick couplers on my hose and will spray off the soap then pop the spray nozzle off and run the water to sheet the sides but it’s a bit harder to do on a 12’ tall vertical wall on the coach compared to a car or truck.

As soon as I get some time I’ll come up with something I’m sure.

Thanks for following my project thread and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.

Somebody has to ask - which quick couplers do you use? I haven’t had much luck with anything made for garden hose duty. Thanks!
