I´m impressed over how clean and well organized your shop is :)

Thanks. I finally feel like it is setup where everything is in its proper place and I can walk right to whatever I need. It has taken me a couple of months to get here though.

My last shop was very organized as well but having a bit more room in this one has allowed me to spread things out just a bit and not have tools and equipment stacked on top of one another.

Thanks for checking in.

You need clamps to hold the clamps in place . .

I could hide my entire garage and contents in just your storage cabinets

Thanks.

I do have a bit more storage in this shop compared to my last. One thing I really like about this one is I am trying to keep things behind cupboard doors and in cabinets vs. my last shop that I had a lot of things stored on open shelves and hanging on pegboard. I like having things hidden behind doors as it gives a much cleaner and organized appearance, again something that I didn't have the luxury of in my last shop.

Thanks for stopping by my projects thread and commenting. I've sure enjoyed following along on your projects that's for certain.

Do you have before shots? Was the prior leather or covering worn out?

If you look back at post # 377 on page 19 of this thread there is a picture of the two couches when I removed them for upholstery. If you look closely you can see the stressed look that the leather has taken on as well as the pleats in the original material that I really didn't care much for. The pleats are especially noticeable on the bottom cushion and the fronts of the drawers that are standing upright.

Thanks.

You did the right move, the couches look a ton better now than they did before. Not only that, but the other couch looks like it was fabric originally? Or is it just my crappy monitor?

Thank you. I like the new smooth Ultra Leather upholstery job much better.

You are correct, the streetside couch was cloth (furthest away in the picture) and the curbside (nearest in the picture) was leather along with the pilot and co-pilot seats being leather. I'm not sure why Monaco did that but many we looked at in this era were set up in a similar manner.:headscrat

I much prefer them all in the same matching material.

Thanks again for the comments.

Next up is to get my new surge tank fabricated then a coat of polish on the wheels and the ole' girl is ready to hit the road.:D

Tonight I put the last of my service manuals in the overhead cabinets and fabricated a couple of small hangers in which to hang my motorcycle engine fixture on the wall.

I still have quite a bit of room for expansion and other items.

Next up was fabricating two small hangers out of some steel tubing.

Materials cut, drilled and ready for welding.

So last night I got out of work late and didn't want to make a mess starting my next project so I took about a half hour and finished video recording the last bit of my shop tour video that I have been working on. I recorded most of it last Sunday afternoon but wanted to hit some highlights in the main toolbox. I hope to have it edited and posted to my YouTube channel sometime this weekend if all goes according to plan.

I thought I would just do a quick walk-around the shop and do the video but it turned out to be much longer than I expected.

Let us know when it goes up. I'm lookin forward to this, poaching ideas will be high on the list.
Bill

Will do Bill.

Again, it will more than likely be a bit lengthy for a shop tour but it is amazing how many tools a person collects over a lifetime and there's no such thing as a "quick" walk-around or shop tour.:dunno:

Thanks for following along with interest.

I nearly forgot, a few pages back Nlped asked for some shots of the workbench LED lights on with the overhead shop lights out so I took a couple pictures last night.

One day I’ll have a work area that nice. One day.
Look forward to the vid tour. I know how much work goes into a quality video.

Amen to that!! Though, my wish would be to be able to weld like that! One day when I grow up!

Shop is looking HOT Mike!

Thank you. I appreciate the welding comments, I wish mine were better but I'm still working on them. I don't think I will ever be satisfied however.

Been awhile since I stopped by Mike. I had some catching up to do so I read between rounds/fights of UFC 220.

The place is still getting better and the new overhead cabinets look great. One question though, why the gap between the 4 cabinet set ?

Thanks for playing catch up Eric.

I had to have the gap due to missing a stud at either end if I closed up the gap.

Thanks again for following along Eric.

Well, as promised I have completed my shop tour video.

Sorry it's a bit lengthy, but it is amazing how many tools and how much equipment a person collects over a career of wrenching.

Here is a link to my shop tour that has been posted to my YouTube channel.

Thanks for watching.

Took the tour and I was quite impressed. I knew, from reading all your posts and watching your videos that your shop was cool, but this tour vid tied it all together. Thanks for taking the time to shoot the tour video and all the others, too.

I really enjoy your little side jobs that you do from time to time and have even stolen a few of your ideas. I admire a guy that has taught himself to do all phases of the garage hobby. Keep the tips and videos coming, Mike and I'll keep watching and reading.

Mike,
Just finished watching your shop tour video and I have to say that it was outstanding. Most shop/tool chest videos are a "look what I have" show. Your video is incredibly informative, interesting, and your tools although clean and orderly have evidence of proper wear and use. Anyone with a bank account (or big debt) can fill a box with brand new g-whiz tools. It's another thing to find a "wrench man" with a collection like yours.
Very impressed.

Best regards
Nate

Skills, imagination & tools. You've kinda run the gamut, and left us mere mortals in your dust.
The great thing about you, you are willing to show how its done and teach.
Thanks for that bro
Still working thru the vid. Life got in the way of finishing it.

Thanks Bill, I appreciate the comments.

I shouldn't be elevated to above mortal status though. One thing that I think some people forget over the years is that we have ALL had to start somewhere. I don't know of anyone who was born with the knowledge that it takes many of us a lifetime to acquire. That being said, I find that helping others and showing others how to do things is how we ALL have learned and to be honest, I find it very rewarding as well. There is no reason to keep information a secret or to one's self, it is meant to be shared so we all can learn and grow.

Also please keep in mind that I do NOT know everything. Far from it. I am learning and growing each and every day and with each and every task I do along the way. It is this continual improvement upon my skillset that I thirst for as I am sure there are many that share that desire on here as well.

Thanks again for the comments.

Guys, I'm glad I was able to accurately describe my desire for shop time/work. I never understood how important this was for me early on as most of my quality was "pride driven" and with a purpose. What I can now say with 100% certainty is it has helped me cope with very negative experiences I have dealt with over the years as a firefighter/medic. Theres times I come home after a bad shift with images running through my head of pure ugly. Staying busy goes along way for mental heath. Creating and learning has saved me, my marriage and friendships. No matter how tired I am walking into the shop, after turning on quality tunes and absorbing the sight, sounds and smell, I'm relaxed and rejuvenated both physically and mentally. So yes, my shop is my temple and I'm closest to my creator and peace fills my soul. This can work for anyone if they love what they do.
Sorry Mike, not trying to hijack your awesome thread, just hoping to "Jump start" someone in need. Many of you get it as your work exemplifies the love you put into projects.

Mike, I still need to watch your tour video in its entirety and plan on doing so today.
You are also blessed to have you son share time in your shop. I'm a bit short on that aspect as my son works and lives in Oregon. Working ,teaching and learning along side of him would be the icing on the cake for me.
Keep on keeping on Mike!
Respectfully,
Paco

Thanks Paco. You're not hi-jacking at all my friend.

You and I must think a lot alike. Although my job is not dealing with life and death like yours, it is still very stressful and just walking in my shop, turning on some tunes and experiencing all of the sights and smells automatically calms my nerves and I can feel the stress lift from my shoulders.

Back when I ran my business out of my last home shop, although I loved my shop, it was more business than anything and I always felt like if I was in the shop I needed to be making money to justify having it, which added its own level of stress. I don't know why I felt that way because my wonderful wife never made me feel that way.

In the short time I have been working in my current shop and not having my business I don't feel at all like I am pressured to be there and this shop has a completely different feeling. IF I decide to do work for someone and make a few bucks, it is on my terms and there is no obligation for me to do any side work. I do enjoy working on stuff for other people but not to the point I was where I felt like I had to be earning money to justify being in the shop. Hell, there are some nights I actually go home and will just sit and BS with my son while he is milling something on his CNC mill and not even work on anything, but that is my choice and I don't feel pressured.

I couldn't agree more with your analogy Paco, my shop feeds my soul as well and provides me with the avenue needed to express myself, relax and not feel pressured from the outside world.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and respond.
