Has anyone heard if Zoro is going to be doing their killer BF deal again? I stocked up on consumables last year for some great deals. Their shipping was also amazingly fast.

Provided the deal is back there is one major issue - Searching for stuff. Everyone thinks the site is horrible to search on, and I agree. Over the past year I have been compiling a list of stuff I am interested in while I have time to search it out and am not in a panic. Here are a few that I have marked over the year:

Dayton 16ga Brake: http://www.zorotools.com/g/Brake/00109455/
Welding Vice Grips: http://www.zoro.com/g/Locking Clamps Plier Style/00061223/
Mop Bucket/Wringer (need one for the shop): http://www.zorotools.com/g/Mop Bucket Wringer Combos/00058101/
Lincoln grease guns (inc powerluber): http://www.zorotools.com/g/Lever-Type Grease Guns/00061078/
JB Weld: http://www.zoro.com/g/Epoxy Adhesives/00062763/
Bosch 18v Jigsaw: http://www.zoro.com/i/G7613785/?category=5954
Bosch 18v Combo Impact: http://www.zoro.com/i/G7523397/?category=5888
Dewalt Toughcases: http://www.zoro.com/i/G7417907/
http://www.zoro.com/i/G7418826/
http://www.zoro.com/i/G7419684/
http://www.zoro.com/i/G7421811/
http://www.zoro.com/i/G7422091/

I have confirmed that these will all be below amazon pricing if the same discount is offered.

For those that have never used the site the easiest/best way to search is go to the manufacturers web site, get the exact PN and use the search bar. Be aware they carry really spotty products from some manufacturers. For example they don't carry the DW745 table saw, but do carry the stand for it.

Crossing fingers for the sale again

Last year was 30% off, which was nice, not as good as 40% the year before.

They threw out one or two other 30% offs during the year too iirc, which made it feel less special.

They just had a 30% on the 4th of Nov. I almost purchased then, but decided to hold off. It will be disappointing if they only offer another 30%. Can probably find a better deal for the item I want elsewhere, as their base prices are so high...

Yea but the minimums are always $250, 30% with no minimum would be nice.

I found that if you are looking for something like power tools, storage, etc they are not the best deal, even with the 50% off. Where they really shine (even at 30% instead of 40%) is the consumables and stuff that isn't normally carried at big box stores or amazon.

Ex last year I needed plasma consumables. Shopped all over for the best prices. They were about 10% higher than the cheapest but after the discount I saved about $50 and stocked up. Same with arko bins, saved a good chunk of change and was able to order the sizes I needed, rather than just getting the one size of knock offs that NT/HF/Etc had on sale.

You're absolutely correct. That's true with all the industrial suppliers but some shoppers don't get it.

I picked up 6 zoeller sumps I use on the job for about $85 each. I can't come close to that anywhere, the big box stores only carry the chinese junk that lasts about 1 year.

I'm trying to find either the Wall Mounted Thread Checker, or Thread Checker on a string (preferably the Wall Mounted) on Zoro. I know Zoro used to sell the Wall Mounted Thread Checker, but for the life of me I can't find it. The metal wall mounted thread checker like you see at autoparts stores.

I wanted to have that in my shopping cart ready for any possible Black Friday sale.

Anybody know where to find that in the Zoro catalog?

I picked up a Little Giant condensate pump for almost half of what they're normally sell for.

Their welders are marked up 10-20% over retail, but still cheaper than others if you get it during 30% off.

When do they usually let on what'll be on sale and any discount codes? I got a chunk of change to spend between them and Tooltopia...

On a side note, is there a particular reason you have JB Weld on your wish list? It's available pretty much anywhere around here...

For some abrasive consumables, keep an eye on Enco too if they do 20% and free shipping. Many of their starting prices will be less than Zoro so 20% may be better than 30 or 40% at Zoro. I'm also eyeing the 3M Green Corps 3" cutoff wheels 'cause damn they're expensive at $5.89 ea but damn they work well. I haven't checked the Zoro price, it may be better. As for that thread checker, $23.95 here:
https://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INPDFF?PMKANO=386&PMPAGE=61&PARTPG=INLMPA&PMCTLG=01

Less 20% would be $19.16. Abrasives are pgs 50-53 above.

NOT trying to make this a Zoro vs Enco thing, just saying different retailers are better for different consumables and shop supplies.

Its a site wide sale. Expect a minimum of 30% (note that they do charge sales tax so factor that in). Restrictions are usually $200 order min with a max savings of $2000-2500.

This is usually Cyber Monday, not black Friday. If I remember correctly they had random discounts last year that culminated with the 30% off on Monday.

I will add their fire extinguishers are just about the cheapest I can find online. I have about $800 in Amerex extinguishers sitting in my shopping cart waiting for the sale next week. I havent looked everywhere, but generally when I find a retailer is cheaper than Amazon plus they include free shipping on a heavy awkward item like an extinguisher, its going to be hard to beat.

FYI its 3x20lb abc, 1x20lb co2, 1xfoam, and 1xwater

EDIT what the hell is this VIGlink stuff in my post. I didnt add that?

Yeah, but you can get the 5 oz tubes for about $6-7 after the discount. Hard to find the bigger tubes locally and the small ones are at least $3-5

Last year tons of people were stocking up on this, epoxy, stabil, loctite, etc. I picked up some of the Quicksticks last year.

Forgot about fire extinguishers. They do have some killer pricing and it's for the good ones, not the cheapies. May need to add a few for the new shop.

Forgot but I stocked up on Kreg screws last year, but I think this year amazon has them beat.

I received an email today with a 25% off $200+ code.

The code is INVITED and it is good until midnight CST on 11-25.

So if anyone is anxious and wants to take the sure thing 25% they can go for it. I myself am going to wait. I have a bunch of Proto, Knipex and Channellock on my list.

Nope, waiting. Thinking maybe not until tomorrow since they just did the 25% earlier this week.

Bueller Bueller....
Wheres Bull?
Anyone hear anything yet?

A lady from Zoro used to give me a head's-up about deals to post on here in advance. The last time I heard from her was quite a while ago. Maybe GJ traffic slowed for them and we fell off the A-list?:dunno:

Yup. I would have given up on garagejournal too if I were Zoro. Couldn't post anything without half the comments being about how terrible this or that was.

What did I miss or forget? I know people complain about their website, but what else happened?

I recall reading a thread not that long ago about someone ordering on a Wednesday or Thursday and getting the shipment on a Monday. He wanted to call it 5 days shipping and was complaining.

I buy 95% of my tools online and I would have to say Zoro is awesome and the 25 - 30% sales are amazing. They usually have competitive pricing to begin with and the sales make them by far the cheapest (on what I'm looking for and they carry). I normally get anything I order within 2 business days.

Someone asked what I had on my list for this one:

Proto locking pliers set (2x) J299NC
Knipex snap ring pliers 001957, 4821j21 and 4921a21
Knipex duckbill pliers 2002140
Channellock nippers zoro# g3269987
Channellock duckbill pliers zoro# g4200987
Some Apex ACR phillips bits

I've purchased a bunch of stuff from Zoro. No complaints here. I know that there are way too many folks on this forum that will never be happy, no matter how good the deal. All you have to do is read the SK day thread to realize that. Maybe Zoro finally realized that selling at or below cost, plus offering free shipping, just isn't good business. That might only happen on those 40 percent off days but it still happens.

I've had pretty good luck with zoro in terms of correct product and timely shipping... however the last 30% flash sale has left me with a bit of a sour taste.

I bought just under 500$ of stuff, including nearly 20 boxes of latex gloves, a chainsaw case, and an Echo timberwolf 20" chain saw. I got the gloves and case within 3 days, sweet! The chainsaw came out to be $300 shipped/no tax (best I found otherwise was $400 with tax from HD) - however, nearly a month later it has still not shipped!:mad:

I contacted zoro about the extreme delay (website said shipped directly from manufacturer in 5-10 days, acceptable lead time) and was told that they are on back order from Echo. I have checked zoro's website numerous times since and still it says 5-10 days. Im rather confused because I contacted home depot recently and they said it could be at my door within a week.

A month delay? Cmon, that's unacceptable. Im about to cancel the order.. GRRRRRRR

It's not just you. She doesn't often send me/ToolGuyd advanced deal info either. These industrial companies don't have much experience dealing with blogs, forums, and magazines, so their outreach tends to be inconsistent.

00000hhhh, that is the echo I've been eying myself for some time! $300 is great for that as it is normally $400. I would wait a month for a deal like that! - Paul
