When is it ?

Apparently you missed the fact that the post you quoted was dated - 12-28-2014

Depending on the Zoro flash sale coming very soon, the Millermatic 211 will probably cost the same as those Hobarts.

Looking for a good 3/8" ratchet (non-flex head, standard size), preferably not Taiwan/China made. What would be a good one that Zoro has that you guys would recommend?

Most knipex stuff is priced right to start with, so the 30% off makes for a really sweet deal. I bought some pliers and then randomly I was getting ready to make a base for my flammable cabinet, well with the sale, under $100 for the factory one seemed more than worth it.

I ordered some SK flare nut wrenches and a Durham cabinet to go with my 6 Durham parts boxes. Prices were both WELL under the lowest out there.

I was thinking just maybe I would get lucky and be able to finally buy the milwaukee cordless mag drill, but I guess it is not in the sale. I almost pulled the trigger on the last 25% offer I had, I don't really need it, I just want it, but not for full price.

One odd thing I've come across on Zoro is the Williams WRS-1 ratcheting screwdriver. With the discount it is cheaper than the lowest ever recorded on Amazon by camelcamelcamel.

Zoro number G0906930

Hmm... looks like SK sockets are a pretty good deal with it too:
SK 4653 3/8" drive SAE 13 Piece set
Zoro w/deal: 45.22$ Amazon: 79.43$

Also I realized the other day that despite having probably 2000 sockets I didn't have a single good 3/8" drive 1/2" socket.

Zoro seems to be very price competitive with Proto tools normally and then when one of these deals comes up they are way lower.

I'm going to get a Proto side cabinet (J441535-9RD-SC) and a few other things.

If you're looking for some more tool storage you might check the Amazon Warehouse Deals thread over the last few pages. I posted like... 10 Williams tool carts / cabinets and things recently at seemingly very good prices. Just as another option to check out.

Picked up some Bessey F Clamps to do some welding.
Somehow, Pelican Rifle cases, 5.11 Tactical bags and Benchmade knives are under Hand Tools.:lol_hitti
Some good deals there, if you're into that sort of thing.

Also picked up several Proto sockets for work.

Are Weather Guard truck boxes any good? Been looking for a truck tool box, but the one's I've seen at places like TSC/Northern/etc. seem very thin and not very secure.

Bought a bunch of OTC bearing splitters and 3 jaw pullers. Still USA made, and zoro's pricing on most OTC stuff is lower than Amazon, and then you can use the 30% off. Might place another order today though.... hmmm

Has anyone used Dasco punches or chisels? I'm picking up a set of the Starrett Drive Pin Punches but can't stomach the price tag on the Starrett Centre ('Center') Punch Set and wouldn't mind picking up a good punch and chisel set that has a nice variety of chisels as well as some centre punches.

The Dasco ones seem to be good value for the money given the number of pieces and that they're USA-made but can't seem to really find any reviews.

Why not look at Proto, mayhew, or SK? I think zoro has all of those brands

Your user level and frequency of use is going to be a factor.

Stay away from dasco pro. They may be American made, but they ****. I have a set. The pin punches bend like a wet noodle and the chisels aren't very hard. I was so irritated I bought a snap on set. Never had a problem with my snappys.

LB, thanks for the info!

Looks like I'll grab the Starrett Drive Pin Punch Set and ***** Punch Set (need to buy this off Amazon as you have to order it in quantities of 10 off Zoro for some reason) and then grab a Mayhew Punch and Chisel Set. The Starrett ***** Punch Set (S816PC) is actually 3 ***** punches and 2 centre punches. It's gonna be kind of pricey but I think that should well cover my punch needs.

What do you use the ford wrench on? I always thought they were just an old style adjustable, had no idea they are still being made.

I use them all the time. I just got from them an 18'' one from crescent which opens to 4-3/8''. I wouldve liked the diamond version of the wrench which is usa made, but people on ebay want like 70-80 bucks for a used beat up one. I was able to get the crescent for like 50 some dollars after the discount.

Use them on anything from hydraulic fittings to pipe fittings. For smaller hydraulic lines i prefer the ridgid e1110. That opens to about 2-1/2' to 2-5/8'' or so. Ridgid e25? I think it is opens to about 4'' and is nice as well. For pipe connections I have to make up a lot of those 8 or 10 sided/flats union connections as well they tend to get pretty large over 4'' easy.

Sometimes Ill use them to back up an impact such as holding the nut while I use a 3/4 or 1'' Impact. Generally anything larger than that and I'll use a hydraulic torquing machine, Ill use a ford wrench sometimes even then.

Most people wont use them, definitely not auto repair. Ship repair we use ford wrenches all the time. Hopefully I can find a good use for the pliers wrench, but theyll never fully replace an e110, carolina socket set(crescent wrench) or a ford wrench completely.

Edit- All that said just listed about 5 different adjustable wrenches I use all the time, we do try to use the correct wrench once in a while. Just not always possible/practical.

We (well mechanics) use them all the time here at work. Shipboard stuff. Regular wrenches get used on anything up to about 3/4" then it seems like the ford wrenches come out. Think the mechanics like them just cause its something easy to grab when going to a jobsite and not knowing exactly what size the fasteners are.

Course they do use wrenches for some types of work just due to restrictions on moving parts and getting tools back.

I finally broke down and ordered the Wilton 75th Anniversary 5-1/2" vise that comes with the free Wilton 20416 Sledge Hammer (sells for around $50 alone) . $279.30 out the door. I like the glossy standard greenish blue color better than the black that appears to me a dull finish but for the price difference it is hard to complain. There were some ratchets that I wanted but didn't want them to be shipped at the same time as the vise as I figured they would try to put everything in one box and end up damaging some of the ratchets.
