Anyone else have their Gedore socket & ratchet kit stuck in Louisville? I am not too worried about it. I had ordered Gedore hammers from Zoro that were drop shipped from Gedore in Germany recently as well. They also got stuck in Louisville for about a month. Gedore doesnt seem to know how to do their commercial invoice and paperwork very well :D So the tracking updates often with back and forth about paperwork and collecting information etc.

My set is also stuck in Louisville.
Just hours after posting, mine finally updated with "Cleared Import Customs". Once you get that one, its leaves Louisville within 1-3 days.

Mine was picked up from Gedore on 6/6. So this time is a bit faster than my hammers were at least. I will probably see my socket set around Wednesday.

It must be in the exact same shipment because mine left on 6/6, and cleared customs and departed the facility this morning. Kinda funny that.

Perhaps because wooden hammer handles require some extra customs paperwork regarding the type/source of the wood. Really. I waited an eternity for some Euro tools that were merely a part a shipment containing wooden hammer handles. The shipper was either unaware or simply neglected to perform the required steps.

I'm too lazy to type these out or do them separately, sorry. Also a little blurry, they kept lifting up and confusing my camera. I just found out my work was throwing lots of these away so I will start grabbing stacks of them whenever I can.

I'd love to see some of the great stuff you guys are buying with the codes... I pulled the trigger on an Astro Thor 401K air hammer which should be arriving soon, but for most of the stuff on Zoro, I find that even with the 20% coupons, it's within a couple of bucks +/- of Amazon prices (usually a bit more).

Some stuff is an incredible deal, like the Gedore tool kit for under $50 with the coupon, but I'd like to be 'inspire' to buy more from them!
So , on Zoro , the Tekton socket sets cost a little more than on Amazon and Tekton but with the 20% coupon it works it to less.
I've bought a 10-38mm 1/2 deep socket set for $126 vs Amazon $150 and the Gedore socket sets , got 10 of those for under $50 a set after applying the 20% coupon.

I've seen a few guys reselling those socket sets on eBay for $120 but my plan is to sell a few ratchets to recover a decent amount of the $500 I paid for the 10 sets and then use the actual sockets as sacrificial sockets , ones that need to be hammered onto damaged bolts , or welded , cut or modified etc without crying about it. I think $40 a ratchet with a socket extension on about 7 of them should do it and I wouldn't be ripping anyone off.

I also plan on taking 2 sets with me to SA to give to my sister's kids who are now 13 and need to start busting knuckles so they can learn why their uncle and their late grandfather would sometimes shout " F##K! " out of what appeared to be nowhere.

Thanks.
I've gotten better at sniffing out some good Zoro 20% off deals... Their web site is not very good at just browsing for some. buy opportunities, but now I tend to shop on Amazon or wherever, then. give Zoro a double check with a specific search for the part number.

Picked up some more Koken stuff and an Astro Thor air hammer for what ended up being pretty good deals.

I got my Gedore set yesterday. The extensions had come out of their foam slots and were sliding around on the top and really beat up half the sockets. Ratchet didn’t get really get noticeably dinged but the row of smaller sockets took a lot of damage. Superficial I suppose but I’m a picky snob so it’s annoying.

At any rate, I was looking into the sockets. The sizing is just quite bizarre and I can’t make sense of it. A 14mm hex will not fit the 13mm surface drive socket, and it’s too loose in the 15mm to expect any decent torque before it slips. I wondered, was this actually an SAE kit and they just put metric labels on the foam? But that doesn’t add up either because the SAE sizes are too strange for that.

While I have my doubts I will ever really use this kit, I also can’t live with no 14mm. I looked up this series of sockets with Gedore and they don’t even make a 14mm!! What a bunch of weirdos over there.

I am going to order the standard 6 point 14mm and 11mm. I will use my mill to put 2 more socket holes in the foam near the ratchet head, maybe tomorrow. I MIGHT even order the rest of the 10-16mm in 6 point since my other sockets in that row got chewed up, then just have the larger row remain surface drive. But these are like $8-9 sockets so I not sure I want to double my money into it.

A note on the ratchet. It’s kinda cool. It’s so short though. The backdrag is actually lower than my Koken Z 1/2”. It’s 48 tooth. And sometimes when you play with the direction switch it somehow goes into neutral and takes some screwing with to get the pawls engaged again.

Would I buy it again? I guess. Not 10 though :D

Exactly my approach. Not sure I've ever discovered something new that I needed while browsing Zoro, but now that I have a feel for what brands they carry, I'll always double check there and if it's not urgent, wait for a 20% coupon.

They used to have a lot of Felo stuff at good prices, but that supply/suppliers seems to have dried up.

This is what I do now as well when I have a 20% off. When it comes to stuff like Tekton , I know warranty won't be an issue.
But when it comes to Gedore stuff it's hit /miss as sometimes they ship the Gedore stuff from Gedore USA , sometimes Germany.
The stuff shipped from Gedore Germany won't have the warranty that the stuff shipped from Gedore USA does. if the price difference is negligible between them, KC or Amazon , I'd rather do KC or Amazon. One can usually tell when Zoro will ship from Germany or Locally as the delivery date at check out is an indication.

It's strange that one battles to find sizes here. They definitely do make a 14mm and one can buy these in almost any size in South Africa. I have an almost no skips set of these from 8-32mm and I been able to purchase sockets when one gets lost here and there.
They definitely do make these in those sizes in just don't know why one can't get them in the US.

Her below on Gedore SA website , that price is in ZAR which equates to less than $7 INCL tax. But shipping here wouldn't be viable.

I think I need to buy a few of these and bring them back when I go back , although my trip keeps getting postponed.

I’ve never been to a South Africa website domain before! I stopped looking when the 14mm was excluded on USA and German.

But I might go ahead and switch to the standard 6 point anyway rather than trying to source this 14mm since the part number doesn’t work everywhere.
