Its probably all the states that have Grainger warehouses.

So I wonder if welders qualify as power tools. I'm very close to ordering a M252

It appears as though they are referring to actual categories on Zoro's site, in which case welders would not qualify as they're in the "Welding & Soldering Equipment & Supplies" main category, not the "Power Tools and Accessories" main category. But it's worth asking!

I bought my MM252 from Zoro at 30% off and I <3 it

Oddly my local steel yard has the 252 on the floor at $2395 and I wouldn't pay tax. The 252 would be $2283 with tax thru Zoro; I don't have my sales tax lic on file w Zoro/Grainger but I guess I could try.

Or I could just walk into my steel yard w cash and if they'd knock off $100 it's pretty much the same.

They jacked the prices up quite a bit. The 252 was priced at $2,542.96 when I purchased it, or $1,780.07 after discount. I wasn't saying buy it from Zoro - just saying I love my 252!

Dude that's awesome. If I could get a 252 anywhere under $2000 I'd be throwing hundred dollar bills at them.

The best "regular" internet price I can find is $2425 so I was surprised to see it local $30 less at $2395

Seems like they should spend less time having fun and more time fixing their website.

Or, they could concentrate on actually filling orders correctly.

This is the third time they have shipped an incorrect item. The first two times it was something small and they told me to keep it. This time, they want me to box it up and drive it to a UPS location - like I have time for that. I am really tempted to do a CC chargeback.

I have defended Zoro to the naysayers many times. I don't even dislike their website that much. They have some good prices on some things (Proto).

But if they can't ship what I need, when I need it, the hassle factor just isn't worth it.

The simple unfortunate fact of the matter is Zoro does not have a sustainable business model. They are using the coupons and affiliate marketing to generate sales, but then the prices are too high regularly to compete and become a source for people like GJers to use on a regular basis, both in part because they're probably limited from competing with Grainger to an extent, and also because the prices have to be high to make the 25-30% off sales sustainable.

This might look good to Grainger or investors in the meantime, but it's not a sustainable model.

In the meantime, it still drives me nuts how poor searching is (and that's an improvement over what it was) and how easily I could fix it :)

i just got one for 3600 shipped but with dual bottle rack and 30a spool gun, with a 400 dollar rebate (they did the standard 252, and added the spoolgun and bottole rack as accessories to get me the 400 build with blue promo)

Many items have REALLY inflated prices but some are like fair trade. IF you shop smart you can still save money on many items. I bought a DYNABRADE sander and METABO die grinder from them and was lower price then anyone.

In my experience Grainger is very over priced as well and it's like you're asking them for a favor to do a credit card sale. What's the appeal? Do they offer discounts for corporate customers?

The Grainger down the street from work closed, it's easier to get stuff next day from McMaster or Amazon than to waste 2 hours sitting in traffic to go to the next closest store.

Grainger in the local industrial park closed down as well.

McMaster does have logistics nailed down even better than Amazon, and when you have it that good, their price premium is justified. Grainger works for standard hardware and such, but when you need other things, next day, rather than wasting my time calling around to Graingers, McMaster will always have it to me tomorrow, as long as I order before 6 PM. Can't really beat that.

Perhaps they saw the writing on the wall already 4 years ago (or whenever Zoro started) and tried to branch out where McMaster isn't (i.e. the consumer space).

Kinda disappointing black friday deals. No 30% off unless you spend over 500 bucks... Guess I won't be buying from Zoro this black friday

Where is the $500 minimum fine print? i'm looking at my flyer, and haven't seen that. In the past, it has seemed to always be for $150, which is referenced for the 25% off in the fine print.

That will throw a kink into my purchasing plans :dunno:

As far as 30%, exactly one year ago, it was 30% off no minimum and free shipping through UPS. I don't know if that's when Zoro was still in its infancy state. However, Zoro was in fruition then, and garnered a lot of our business.

Maybe I was too tired last night, but the website was acting funky for me. Wouldn't let me apply the discount when I was logged into my account, but when I check out as guest it worked even when it was for a lesser amount. I don't think there is a minimum. Just tossed an $11 hammer (that I forgot on my order last night) in my cart and the code worked. Again, checking out as a guest.

You can get an extra 4.4% off by going through topcashback.com. At 34.4% off there are probably some deals there.

Really contemplating a Wilton 63218 woodworking vise. I'd like to hold out for something USA made, but this is a good price for a vise with some nice features.

i ordered a few things. i started a cart last weekend, and put some things in it that were priced about the same as amazon. today, i checked again, and the prices were exactly the same. did the checkout with the code, and it deducted 30% from everything except the 1.59$ safety glasses i added last night.

the prices went from ok to great. it is still a painful experience. one thing i searched for three ways before i found it. i tried by manufacturer name and type, but it didnt show up. i tried by model number, didnt show up. i tried by part number, and it showed up. no obvious reason that the name and type shouldn't have caught it, because they were both there in the main description. oh, well, i did manage to find it, but if i were not motivated, i would not have.

I'm glad I ordered a Monarch tach last week when there was a 20% or 25% promo. I wanted to buy some more reflective tape, and it's not eligible for the discount.

I checked the tach, and also:

The items in your cart are not eligible for this promotion. See details.

This promo is a lot more restrictive than in past years. Maybe Cyber Monday will be better.
