Just a heads up. I just received my latest batch of trade magazines. Very disappointing. Zoro dropped their ads from all of them except one. And that one had NO coupon code. Maybe we are now stuck with just the emailed codes. I'll keep you posted.

Same here. I was hoping maybe it was just the magazines I receive but it looks like Snowy3 may be the last 20% code

I kinda doubt that. They've built up their business using discount codes. Without the discount codes they are nothing more than Grainger. The discounts created a new market and brought in a new clientele, that Grainger didn't have before the creation of Zoro. The discounts may not come as frequently, but I don't think they'll disappear.

you are completely correct.

but . . . . there is a sweet spot where the size, frequency, and restrictions of discounts all meet to maximize profit.

a few years ago, when they were getting started, the discounts were a higher percentage, more frequent, and with less restrictions. they did this to build a client base.

now, they are in a more mature phase. some of those customers will keep coming back because they are used to shopping there, and it is convenient (they understand how the web site works, etc). some will stay because the discounts are often enough, and valuable enough, even with the enhanced restrictions (of both brands and type (only power tools this time)). some will either move on, or rarely come back when the pricing, coupons, and restrictions align to create a deal worth getting.

ideally, they can find a spot where the profits are high enough that it is worth their time.

Yes, codes will continue but it appears the 20% unrestricted $100 min. codes that have appeared in trade journals for the last couple years may be ending.

Yes, Zoro has only posted in about 4 trade magazines this year. Their advertisements in the last two months of issues have been without codes. Right now, the last of the 4 20% off $100+ expires on 03/9/18. They've been steadily moving away from these trade codes. A year ago, they had 11 different trade codes with 20% off $50+. More often, we'll see category codes, typically off larger volumes. They're definitely moving away from non-specific general codes now that Zoro is more established.

It's unfortunate that they are getting rid of codes which are more likely to encourage impulse buys without having to purchase several hundred dollars first. I know that their parent company, Grainger, has struggled recently with new competition from the likes of Amazon Business, etc. As such, Grainger has started cutting prices down closer to Zoro. Grainger has traditionally been able to get away with their pricing due to their rapid distribution network, but that's quickly changing as competition grows.

I used the code and went through be frugal and my cash back was “reversed” and they took nearly 100 dollars out of my befrugal account... any suggestions?

I don't believe that code was listed on zoro's website or befrugal's, thereby not qualifying for cashback (according to my experiences).

This is why the ubiquitous 20% coupons (that qualify for 4% cashback) are just as good (less the 1% and 4% cashback vs upfront savings) as the 25% coupons (without the cashback) that many wait for.

Unfortunately, cashback through BeFrugal has often reversed using the 20% tradecodes. It should apply to the mailed codes and sitewide promo codes, but it can vary. Still, it doesn't hurt to try.

BeFrugal (shameless referral link).

As a reminder, there are currently 4 active universal 20% off $100+ tradecodes, with the last two expiring on 3/9. As these expire soon, here are a few for all of you to use. Please continue to share codes.

SNOWY2 (Expires 03/09/19)
SNOWY5 (Expires 03/05/19)
SNOWY3 (Expires 03/09/19)
SNOWY4 (Expires 03/04/19)

I got the "20% off items in this catalog" mailer. Probably won't need it.
Edit: It is gone.

That's absolutely true about Grainger. I always shop around and usually check Grainger just to laugh (I don't have a commercial account). Recently I have purchased several tools from them (mostly Proto) because they had the best price and of course local pickup so no shipping charges.

I have found absolute steals on Grainger's clearance for hardware. Last week I snagged 5/16 x 1 3/4 24 grade 8 yellow zinc 650 pack for $20.13
Lock nuts to match packed 3600 for $17.22
Some M12 cap screws x25mm packed 520 for $16.61
And other assorted goodies cheap. In the end I had over 200lbs of fasteners for just over $125.

***Code was used***
25% off $400+
Good through 3/27

I would say post if you use it, but that doesn't happen. So 1 flat tire for you for every failed attempt a GJer suffers because you couldn't be bothered to them know. :)

Looks like they may be closing out this Solo garden sprayer because stock is limited. I like Solo because parts are cheap and readily available, they've had the same design for years. This HD version comes with Viton seals

Thanks for that little nugget. Never even look at Grainger outside of work because prices but now I'm looking for more nut/bolt organization

No problem, glad to share with the group. About four years maybe five I was surfing the site for some some grade 8 in 1/2" and stumbled across it. I soon realized that I could drill the list down and start matching nuts and bolts. Long story short I ended up with around $10k in nuts and bolts for just over $375. I have many lifetime supplies of 1/4" thru 3/4"
I've also found carhart full insulated coveralls for like $50, Bates boots for $25, safety squints for a buck, German taps for $3.

Now for another nugget. Go to Fastenal and search "clearance item". You will pay shipping but only from Fastenal to Fastenal which isn't too bad. I've scored some great metal deals as well as hardware.

FYI, I hadn't shopped at Zoro in a while after placing a few orders $500+, and I recently received a unique 25% with no minimum purchase amount. Just letting you know they do still exist.

I'm not sure why but this month I received THREE 25% off with no minimum codes. Normally I get maybe one or two a year.

Hey guys, heavy items that "drop ship" from the manufacturer, does zoro pay the liftgate fee already to the manufacturer?

Anyone ordered compressors, or other heavy items from them?
