Too cool.
Love the organization of that wall of tools.
That little guy doesn't look as impressed as I am though.

I love those shots. I don't know what it is about an old, well used shop with an old, well used hot rod in it but it just seems right.
Check out the pin ups posters on the back wall in the shot of the guy who's just plucked the Olds Rocket motor!
I'm in the process of some major reorganization of my tools and I've considered a small area of peg board just above my bench. I like the looks of it and plan on using it just for my basic, most used tools. I know it's not secure but neither is my shop or lockable boxes for that matter. It would be convenient as hell, I think.

Wonder were the pic's of the "40" were taken, If my thinking is correct those license plates look to be Spokane County in Washington state.

In the photo of the guy building diffs, the wooden crate on the floor behind him says "Toyota Motors".

Ha! I just had to post that up at on a Toyota forum I frequent. Looks like a pretty old photo to have a pretty old looking Toyota box sitting in it.
Oh... and great catch.

I just did a double take at pic #4. The young tyke pictured resembles our beloved Super Moderator Jack Olsen.
I'm sure it isn't him, but you have to admit that would be a fitting environment for our garage guru!

Both the Toyota Motor crate, and the wooden box in the bodywork picture: remember when things came in wooden boxes?!
If you had a time machine, could you take a Supra Turbo back with you, just to blow that dude's mind?

The license plate on the '40 Ford is a 1956 California plate. Black on chrome yellow. The 1956 plates were in service from 1956 through 1962, with year stickers for registration renewal added to the rear plates from 1957 through 1962.
The "tool wall" photo is pretty cool, but an awful lot of what I'd consider commonly-needed tools probably can't be reached without standing on a step-stool or ladder. Then again, I could just be jealous, because we never had that many tools hanging on the wall in our garage back in the day.

I saw that too. Also the "Dutch Boy White Lead" can on the bench. Used in the old days as a high pressure lubricant. Also quite poisonous.

My guess is Tim does know more about this given he is also on the HAMB.
Care to share (please) some more with us Tim about this ?

Looks like he's leading in the seam on that rear 1/4 in the bodywork pic. Heating up poison will create hot smoke which many 'a bodyman huffed back in the day. My father being one of them. He's been pounding fenders for 54+ years. Still owns his shop at the young age of 75.

A photo of that car and tool board were in the latest issue of Hot Rod Deluxe, and it said he still owns the car and the garage and the tool board.
edit: correction, it was in The Rodder's Journal.

I corrected my post, it's in the #57 issue of the Rodder's Journal, in an article by Pat Ganahl featuring cars from his latest book, Lost Hot Rods II.

NO. It's the photo of the man with the differentials on the bench. White lead was used on screw threads before torquing. There's some on his hands, too. I'll bet he didn't wash them before eating his lunch.

Tank I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it's not the kid talking about his old mans stuff it's the old man talking about his stuff. Those hot rod guys are a hard bunch to stomp out
