One Amazing Fabrication Table

I don’t know that I have EVER seen so much fastidious attention to detail on a piece of shop furniture in all my years. Seriously. Just watch entire video and contemplate the time this guy has in every single aspect of the build. From engineering, to machining, to fabrication, to polishing… It’s just mind numbing.

All I can say is...that is insane...that looks like a workbench that NASA would build to go into space. I'm in shock...everything in that shop is matching...he can't be married...no way.

That may be the coolest home built table in the world. His level of craftsmanship is astounding. It is engineered to the highest level possible. Can you imagine what that thing would cost to build or buy commercially ? I am blown away.

At some point, cost just doesn't matter. He reached this point just in materials alone.

The talent is at a level that makes me wonder why I even bother to go out in the shop. This dude is smart, creative, and has an eye for design... Really, really rare.

For me it was awe inspiring but personally Disheartening.
I don't even want to go look at my shop right now.

I did learn something my meagerness could absorb:
I'd have told you imron paint was outlawed 30 years ago.
Must be a different formula.
At least I can apply the paint he bought...maybe....
Damn that video makes me look weak.

Then he needs that exact table.
A prototyper must make it appear as if your incredibly self important job is just a lunchbreak distraction for the prototyper.

Oddly, a boiler maker, (the ultimate prototyper) would need an alchemist type shop like the one in The Princess Bride to impress me.

But I expect a prototyper to order the materials to an exact specification and I expect a boilermaker to make a cannon from a tree trunk....in the Sahara....

(that little justification just made me feel better enough about my shop to at least open the door and peek inside.)

I look at the videos you post on the home page and I think to myself. "A HUMAN JUST DID THAT" or more realistically "look at this ******** thing!"

It actually motivates me to get myself together and just try an idea. It's fascinating and eye opening. I'd have never come up with a mechanism in my head like that but it gives me ideas that I can use other places.

Nice table. Im not as impressed as you guys, or at least not as hyped up. Could I do that? NO, his skills and equipment are beyond me. I do however really like the chain drive idea and other thoughts that went into the table. I think I can cobble something together along that theme with scraps and old combine chains. It'll work for my purposes, but it would never be nearly the space-grade clean-enough-to-eat-off-of fancy table in the video. Well done at least.

It's certainly a cool table. For me it's a little like watching those people doing triple backflips in the Olympics. Very impressive, but why take the time?

I guess I'm more impressed with folks who build things with their welding table, and folks who enjoy themselves in their sport and share it with friends, rather than turning it into some sort of one-upsmanship game.

I do like the guy's jet ski cart

It's funny... I know a few guys actually with this level of talent and most of them don't concern themselves with what others are doing at all. Meaning, I don't think they are competitive in the least. They are just obsessed with knowledge and making themselves better. I actually quite admire that.

I guess what I'm trying to say is... I don't believe there is a damned thing wrong with this table... or the time/commitment it took to build it.

The grinder cart is COOL!

He sounds like the guy from the movie Shooter. The guy Marky Mark goes to, to find out about re-using a bullet. LOL!

Is it impressive? Yes, but I don't have that much commitment to build anything even close. What's more impressive to me is, he decided he COULD build it, and he DID build it.

What's really funny is that the majority of people with that level talent aren't making videos about it or chatting about it on the internet. They are in their shop doing it and getting paid....

While he was building and making videos, he was probably getting paid his $115 per hour rate for THINKING about some one elses prototype.

But if I was getting one for free I'd take it! Maybe one of these days. He appears to be a design engineer...

I'm impressed its all manual machines. I figured he would be dropping solid models into his CAM. I'm also curious how long it takes to polish all the stainless steel and what process he's using.

That's what I was thinking. I was hoping to see some nice small CNC **** in his shop.

IDK,

Looking at his web site, all the pics, design etc, is his shop equipment. There are some nice ideas and attention to detail BUT, it is a small garage type shop. If this guy has been doing proto work for forty years it was someplace else. This stuff reeks of hobby shop, the wiring to his line reactor is far from conventional or within the scope of the NEC.

I get a kick out of the reactions guys with little to no actual shop experience have when they see stuff like this. Yea he spent a lot of time and effort on these projects and, he did a great job on finishing them. The stuff is great for his needs, it isn't what a 150.00 an hour shop would ever try do work with.

One if the odd things is cheap import tools. You’d be hard pressed to find a shop of that caliber using an ‘MSC’ band saw or what looks to be cheap mills. Hard to gauge from just videos, and stuff is definitely cleaned up, but from quick views that shop doesn’t scream high end to me.

I used the band saw as an example but a relatively busy high end shop isn’t going to buy a $1000 saw and then add a new motor, VFD, etc, etc. They’d just buy what they need instead of wasting a bunch of time.

I agree with the last two posts also.

I was surprised at the import milling machine.

And, when we made machine bases, aluminum was never even considered, the heavier the better.

Still cool **** though! lol!

Dayton Grinders and Buffer, MSC Saw, Speedaire Compressor, RongFu Mill.... Yeah I caught that too... Still doesn't change that I want the shop I actually WORK in to look like that... Matching toolboxes, CLEAN and ORDERLY, and that welding table but it is way OVERBUILT!...

Stuff is clean, executed well, neat things like the welding table, but definitely not out of the realm for pretty much any competent fabricator. I think the aluminum makes it look fancier than it is. The table is neat, but the adjustable thing isn’t really as crucial as many people seem to think.

That vertical adjust is something that I really like on it... I'd love to have one a Lot LARGER that could do that, For Real... maybe a 5x10.. Because I need something that large and I need the vertical adjustment even then I would still end up standing on the table and welding something... I just wouldn't need a ladder to get on the table! LOL!

This guy has talent in multiple realms including business and advertising, and/or works well with others that do. The video gives away the basic design and numerous details of the build—clearly he's not too worried about that.

Though I don't have enough years left to reach this level of design+engineering +fabrication skill, this is humbling/inspiring as I put together a welding table. There are tons of tips here that can allow me to turn down the dial on my own OCD and git 'er done with 5% of the end product that he achieved.
