The Garage Journal Alliance Is Born!

The Garage Journal Alliance is now a reality. It’s something that I’ve put a lot of heart and soul into. It’s something that I really believe in. Even so, I’m having a hard time putting this milestone of ours into words. I’m sure I will find them eventually, but I just can’t yet. I’ve tried… I’m sure that time will come and when it does you won’t be able to shut me up – promise.

A special thanks to those of you that helped me with this and to all of our Vendors that have worked so hard to make this a real value rather than a perceived one. I owe you all.

Yes. You will get a tag for every year you are a member.

Give me some companies to go after... I am about to start some pretty fierce vendor hunting.

I agree. Regular lettering is fine. A special avatar would be nice well with an option to show it or not.

Also, could we lose the ads? You might get more members if you let them become ad-free.

As for the ads, you mean on the homepage? We don't have any ads in the forum at all. Never have, never will...

It could be a bad choice but how about HF I know a lot of the guys dont go there. But a lot do maybe HF wont work with GJ but its a thought. Hell one of the members here works there.

At the top of the page is an "Alliance" tab, on that page is a link to the vendors and a cross link to the hamb vendors. Or, you can click here.

Members of either alliance enjoy vendor benefits from both alliances.

Are there any plans for a special Alliance membership for those members outside of the American continent?
Just thinking...I would like the badge, and have no problems contributing, but I can't see getting any benefit from the current supporting vendors.

We have a few Australian vendors on the HAMB Alliance list if you are hot rod guy. However, I don't have any general garage or tool vendors from Australia yet. Are there any in particular you would like me to go after? Cuz I will!

Any one in the John Danks Buying group (Covers Thrifty link & Home Hardware Etc.) would be good. Bunnings.
If you want I will hunt up some contacts from my hardware days.

As yet I am still to decide if I join here or the HAMB even though I see both will offer good deals / advantages getting deals from both places with one Alliance.

Ryan, have read all your posts you always sound like a real down-to-earth sort of bloke (US Translation : a regular guy ??) . Count me in, signing up now.

Your commitment to try is good enough for me! I'm in, as I love this site - even though sir in all honesty you & I don't share the same views on "Free Parking" section , you have let it be itself, I would feel like a "user" not to support your site as best I can- and hey I spend most of my time in the other sections but "Free Parking" is great to wind down in occasionally.

So I signed up. Thanks very much for doing this - do we get a code or something to use with the vendors to get discounts? Basically - how do I let them know that I'm a member of the alliance?

You'll notice that some vendors have links to discount codes on this page:

If they don't have a link to a discount code, you have to call them and your account will be verified with your username and shipping address.

I see Genius tools on there where they quote 40% off list, but there are no list prices available that I can see. Can we get a list or link?
