This is genius. You know when you have that tube of RTV out and you just need a squirt of it? Typically, you simply stick a nail or screw in the freshly cut nozzle and hope for the best the next time you have to use that tube. Of course, it’s always a screwy mess of partially dried and tacky RTV that you have to fight through to get to the fresh stuff. No more fellas…

Check out the Twist-n-seal from Lee Valley. I just ordered mine.

Almost dont look long enough to punture the seal ? Pretty good idea.
I just use chain link fence ties sharpened and try not to snip the end too big.

I don't think the orange plugs are suppose to puncture the seal. My Newborn gun has a 4" piece of wire attached to it that's used to puncture the seal on caulk tubes. For other tubes I usually use an awl or ice pick. It looks like those orange plugs would work to seal tubes.

These Twist-n-Seals look like they would be great for resealing caulking or RTV .. hey Ryan, what's the shipping like?

I bought two packages of these a couple of months ago and am pleased to report........ They really work! From Lee Valley, one of my favorite stores, only in Canada. Pity.

Yeah, shipping is... well, stupid... BUT, I talked to a guy this evening in town that has been using them and swears by them... Apparently they do a great job of sealing without tearing up your nozzle or tip.

I'll be sure to report back with my own findings.

Wire nuts! Same principle except they thread onto the outside instead of the inside. Work like a charm and are a whole bunch cheaper!

I use wire nuts.
Different sizes for different amount of cut off.

I've used wire nuts but sometimes they don't offer quite as good of an air seal. The best solution I have found is to use a little piece of foil tape (the kind used to seal ducts). It seals the tip 100% air tight and when I need to use that particular tube again I just tear off the foil and get to work.

I've used caulk months later with no problems... works like a champ. The problem with these little plastic seals is that I probably wouldn't know where to find them when I need them and wouldn't want to clean them if they get covered in caulk. My roll of tape is easy to find and disposable.

I've used them for a week now... So far, they rule... Completely air tight, doesn't screw up the tip, etc... Worth the dough in my opinion.

Eh..I use screws. Works fine.

Not a bad idea, but not something I'll be spending $ on.
