Wanted: Vintage Tool Box

This is totally against the rules, but hey… It’s my site – right?

Anyway, I’m looking for a vintage tool box for the office. I”m not picky about brand or even period really, but I’d like something with some character – bottom and top box. Anyone have anything they want to sell?

I have that tool box.
No, it's not for sale, and yes I'm a ***** for littering up your post just to brag!

Actually, I thought about doing exactly what you're talking about. I found a real early Snap-on top and bottom last year, for less than $200, in pretty good shape, but I was broke and couldn't get it.

It makes sense in a small office, especially one with new-style computer desks that don't have any drawers. Envelopes, CDs, printer paper, hole-punch, etc. etc. etc. would fit very neatly in a vintage tool box.

Chad S confirmed this is a mid to late 30s box. I was goung to keep it but I think it may be better in the hands of a collector. I have 2 boys and am sure some tool abuse will happen in my shop as we start working on cars for them. I am already starting boxes for each of them so they will keep out of mine, and their grandfathers. I am looking to trade this box for a couple of snapon wrench sets- goex of oex. Nothing fancy just good working tools. let me know if you are interested and have something you would like to trade.

My Dad was a diemaker for Ford...I have his toolbox and some of the contents. The box is far from perfect having been in the factory for decades..I was going to restore it for kicks, but haven't got the time. Would consider selling it...lemme know.

Here's another post that doesn't help your search in any way.

So get this....my wife's grandpa passed about 20 years ago and had a TON of vintage tools, tool boxes, etc in his shop. (dating back to 20's and 30's) All he had was daughters so my wife's dad ends up will ALL of this stuff, and immediately jams it all in the attic above his horse barn, where it's been sitting this whole time.

My Father-in-Law is not a car guy but won't even slightly entertain the notion of letting any of this stash go (he's got issues about keeping lots of junk around).

So...up there sits a virtual El Dorado of vintage garage tools that I can't even go look at (he knows when someone's been poking around...don't know how...but he does). Good news is, that he also had only daughters and the other husbands don't want or care about this stuff.
