In my opinion, there is no better lighting fixture than those made by Barnlight Electric. If you’ve never messed with one of their fixtures, just take my word for it… They are made like little tiny brick **** houses. Seriously. Of course, they aren’t cheap either… And that’s the problem I faced when I was looking for light fixtures to adorn my shop space that is currently coming together. To put it bluntly, I just didn’t have the budget for Barnlight this time around.
So the hunt was on… I knew I didn’t want to run a super efficient and affordable fluorescent tube fixture simply because I didn’t want that look. Instead, I wanted something a bit more classic in appearance to match the vintage warehouse look that my shop currently has. Of course, that calls for your typical barn/warehouse pendant and there are plenty of people that make fixtures with that design. However, my hunt proved fruitless… Just about every warehouse pendant that I found was either priced higher than Barnlight or made with the craftsmanship of someone who just didn’t care.
And then, I found a 14″ pendant made by Canarm of Canada. The shade is of typical design and make – nothing really to see there… BUT, the fixtures themselves are cast aluminum and appear to be made really well. They support up to 300 watts and go for less than $50 each. I can say after weeks of searching that you aren’t gonna find a better value than that.
I ordered 12 of them and plan to screw in a 55 watt CFL into each. More details and photos to follow as I move along in my shop build, but I was so happy with these that I wanted to share them now. And while this is certainly an endorsement on my part, I paid for my fixtures like anyone else would… In fact, I got mine on Amazon.
