Armstrong and Bonney sockets and two SK extensions… $10.

The two SK extensions have the same model number, but different finishes. I have at least 4 of these of 3 different designs.

I've noticed that with Craftsman tools over the years. Seems like every change featured less metal in the construction, yet the same model number used...

Well some degreaser, a toothbrush, and some grease and it works like new. Looks like grease inside was just dried cake of its former self.

That'll do it!

Finally emptied all of the bins and toolboxes from the Hoarder Mechanic. The next stage is identifying what I've got. As was noted previously, I look right past an Army shovel and sweet plane because there's so much stuff. There are tools I don't know what they are and then there's 80 screwdrivers. It's nuts. Today I found long C, proto and plomb wrenches. Had no idea they were in there, just like this green toolbox. Completely missed going through this box, it's really cool though. Any idea what this label was?

I picked up this Proto 9997 box a couple weekends ago. The guy I got it from said it had been his dad’s. Among a bunch of newer import tools there were a few Plomb wf pieces, three TAC crows feet, a nearly complete set of Snap On swivel sockets, a couple Proto LA things, a bunch of Proto mfd era stuff, and a ton of other random odds and ends

It's hard to mistake that logo
If there are no labels, those hip roof cantilevered boxes were only made by two mfgrs in the 40s and 50s, to USAAF/USAF Type II specs. They are otherwise identical, except for the pattern of the indent stiffener in those lid sides. Kennedy is triangular. Simonsen is round.

Smokeshow, the Ford padlock and key came off full sized Broncos from the 1980s era. It locked the spare tire on the swing out rack in back. JimDon

I don't doubt it that it can get heavy, there's so much space. Might be a good thing to keep a "kit" of something for one specific job like carb rebuilding or rotary tool or maybe a favorite set of collectible tools.

I see them full of plumbing fittings, and they are practically unliftable. Also seen one with wheels underneath.

Mrs. Radar and I just got back from the long Memorial Day weekend spent with my younger brother and his wife on the shore of "Lake-O-the-Boonies", Indiana. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing, due in no small part to the lack of connectivity. Just finished reading through the last three pages and here are my replies and comments:

Lugz: Thanks for the info on the tool roll. I would not have suspected it was offered separately from a wrench set, but can see how it might be needed as a replacement as a high-wear item.

Alinc100: You **** for that $7 haul!

LS: Thanks for the vector on the Bonney marking on my socket box. If there was something there, it's long gone. Also, a belated Happy Anniversary!

Smoke: I found that same Ford padlock w/ two keys and a silicone pad on the shackle over a year ago for $1 and sold it for $70. JimDon is correct about it belonging to '80's Bronco spare tire racks.

Beemer: You **** for those machinist tools!

The Kinfolks knife model # 96 and sheath is probably WWII era, it's already sold to a guy in the 96th Bomb Squadron here at Barksdale AFB.
Oh those crazy Red Devils! We'll buy anything with 96 on it! ;)

Well the Bandit Shed is getting closer to being demolished. I spent 8 hours there today dismantling the lean to and removing the tin from the roof. I went back to the dog run and found a few more goodies. Part of a Walker Turner mortising jig, shackle, Toledo power threading dies, Hubbard 6 pound lumber wedge and a Herbrand DDL-124 wrench for a Delta lathe.

3baygarage, this is the 3rd Hubbard piece so far, I think it is the no. 82 Truckee Wedge. The other 2 were no. 110 saw wedges, 1 and 2 pound.

S-K Tool Fanatic! I'm salvaging what lumber and tin I can safely. It won't be enough to build another shed this size though LOL.

I couldn't say no to a $1 Indestro / Montgomery Wards 1/2" socket set.

IMG_2631.JPG

I couldn't find a Wards catalog online for any clues as to age, but I was guessing 1930s. It has 1/2, 9/16, 19/32, 5/8, 21/32, 11/16, 3/4, 7/8, 15/16, and 1.
IMG_2632.JPG

Here's another handful that cost $1--I always grab Vacuum-Grip pliers when I see them now. And the little Picquic screwdrivers are cool.

IMG_2636.JPG

Finally, I located at a surplus/warehouse sale a supply of Boraxo. I bought every box they had and it turned out it was on half-price day. $17.49 for eleven five-pound boxes. I should be set for life now.

The Craigslist add had some Snap-on tools in the first photo as well as a 1/4 Cman thumbwheel.
I messaged him about asking prices on the Snap-on & was pretty sure he would not negotiate.
I stopped there first this morning to get the Craftsman for $10.00 as I still needed one.
But for another $40 was able to bundle the 1/4 T72 ratchet 2013 date as well as the 9 piece metric socket set 2014 date.P1010001.JPG

@Oldsmobile , you ****!

$1 1/2" set in a nice box.

Are the Picquic TeenyTurners or Stubbys?

I don't know what I'd do with that much boraxo but I'd bid on it too!

My thrift store Haul this week.

IMG20230601114800.jpg

A Jacobs Adapt-A-Drive for $2

IMG20230601114734.jpg

15 2x2 squares of floor mat for 20 bucks.

IMG20230601114743.jpg

A Lazy-Boy rocker recliner for 90 bucks.
The arm rests have some sun bleach and the lever needs to be refinished but otherwise in excellent condition.

Anyone have a recommendation for Leather dyes or paint? It still has the sample and I'm guessing color code stapled to the frame.

I’ve gotta stop hanging around this thread. I’m getting anxious, having not acquired any new-to-me tools in several weeks! 😂
Right? I'm a yard sale fiend, and I don't think I have been to more than 5 so far this summer. I've been too busy this year, and it *****. At least I can live vicariously through you guys lol.

Oldsmobile ***** for that sweet Indestro Monkey Ward set! Post your Vacuum Grips here.

gleman--I doubt those Lazyboy arms are bleached by the sun. That looks like oily/sweaty skin bleach. Probably explains the need for refinishing the lever, too. Use some good leather cleaner before you attempt any dye. I use Lexol.
