I can't see any numbers, but really need to soak the whole thing to get rid of a few years worth of gunk and grease.

Well in today's pile of FREE 99 a co-worker sent these to my jobsite. He found 'em at a garage sale and figured I might like them. The Home Craftsman magazine, various years 40's,50's. They will be fun to peruse and I'll look to see how to get them up on Internet Archive

Trying to clean up my garage I came across this set of wrenchs I got at a swap meet for 40.00 probably a month before I joined this site… seemed like a great deal at the time so I got them.. just wondering how good they are and is it worth investing in a metric set… this set told me they feel incompetent with out it lol5788A891-BBC5-4F63-9F25-DC9FC389FECD.jpeg

I really like these, I have a set in metric but with satin finish. They have Proto's anti slip open ends which are nice for some extra grip without marking bolts up the way others I've tried like Wrightgrip or Carlyle do. At $40 for a set going up to 1-1/4" I'd say you got a great deal.

I got my Blackhawk ratcheting wrench set in a smaller roll that looked very similar. Same roll and logos… same script on the wrenches.

It is only 10mm-16mm, and not USA… but for under $6 a wrench, I could not say no.

That set is worth $40 all day. Any made in USA set is worth more than that these days. If you live with a lot of humidity, I would get it out of the plastic roll.

MrsLS & I continued our flea selling experiments today at Leesport (PA) Farmers Market. The photo is at 11am, when we had sold about a third of our stock and several vendors had packed up and left. The air was very humid and had reached 80°F. A couple candles melted onto our tarp.
IMG_9862.jpeg
I spent much of the morning afoot and $30 on small tools.
Among the highlights, a 2” Red Devil (Irvington) putty knife; beehive screwdriver; Stanley drivers; a Bonney driver and nine DOEs; a stump of a Utica driver and two pliers; Buhl, Winchester, Kraeuter, Hinsdale, Blue Point, and two Wright DOEs; and a VacuumGrip slipjoints.
As we were packing up I chatted with the next vendor, who had a 2009 5-disc Sony surround sound system for $20. I was warming up to the idea of buying it when he surprised me by giving it to me, though he held back the subwoofer - I have no idea why. I hooked it up at home and got the residue of two ruptured AA batteries out of the remote. It does indeed work, though without the subwoofer, it’s pretty anaemic: only slighty better than my flatpanel tv alone. The other speakers are 3ohm impedance, so I suppose the subwoofer is, too? [EDIT: No, it’s 1.5ohm.] Maybe I can scrounge one up.
We attempted to have lunch in Hamburg at the 1787 Brewery, but it’s a ThFrSaSu-only place. So up PA61 (past the chain restaurants parasitizing Cabelas) to the Port Clinton Hotel for a couple huge, juicy burgers and IPAs. (Note to self: order the fries!) IMG_9861.jpegIn a “don’t blink or you’ll miss it” town that boasts a hand-lettered Post Office sign, it’s easy to assume there are no such gems to be missed, but the Hotel, and the Peanut Shop (old school candy shop) across the street, are genuine treasures. IMG_4232.jpeg
Finally, a stop at Goodwill to divest the unsaleable items.

Hit up the Restore in the city north of me, and picked up the following:
53073892781_ceee2378d6_h.jpg
Armstrong speeder, Crescent flathead, German Schroder spiral screwdriver (takes 1/4" bits!) and a yellow box containing:
53074087004_c536022ca6_h.jpg
A nearly complete set of Xcelite nut drivers. I will be on the lookout for a 7/16", but I think I saw one recently, so I shouldn't be too hard to find.

I haven't added anything here in a while due to some family issues, but finally decided to post a few things I picked up.

First this pressure washer surface cleaner. Paid $15. Looks unused.
20230725_192040.jpg

Then picked up these new reduced shank drill bits for $6 each. I dont use these sizes often, but it was too good of a deal to pass up.
20230725_191811.jpg
At the same yardsale I picked up this bundle of belt sander belts for $5.
20230725_192010.jpg

The following weekend, I went all over the place and at the last sale, which did not have any signs I found a few treasures. As soon as I walked into the garage, on the floor was this metric set of Craftsman USA impact sockets. The guy said $5. Done! On a shelf in the garage, I found the SAE set. $5 Done!
20230725_191951.jpg
Then when walking into the house, mixed in between all the knick knacks and useless ****, I found this.....
20230725_191858.jpg
A set of Mitutoyo Digimatic calipers that don't look like they had ever been used. They still had the blue protective film on them when I opened them up. You can see it in the case. $5! I wasn't sure if they would work or not since a couple batteries that were in the case were corroded, but after putting a fresh battery in it, they work great.

I saw those same Channellocks, and passed on them too. Just a bit too high priced in my opinion. Sometimes whoever is doing the pricing loses their mind. :ROFLMAO:

The Peugeot Surpans DOE set came in:

Minimal overlap to the sets that came in the cars, but I now need 2 or 3 more of the 8-10MM wrenches, I have one set of the 8-10, 12-14, 17-19 sizes, and 2 more in 12-14, 17-19 - one of those is shown with the Chromed new acquisitions:

Sizes are: 16-18, 17-19 (same in the Auto sets), 20-22, 21-23, 24-26, 25-27, 29-32 -An Auto 12-14 goes with these and as mentioned, an 8-10 needs to be found (doubtful I'll find these in Chromed "Shop set" wrenches.)

These need one of those Wrench clips - I'l have to think about that...

West side one seems to have jacked up prices quite a bit in the last year or two...

If it’s S-K it has to be prewar because of the lack of detents to stop the lid from closing too far. I have seen wartime Plomb sets in that style of box as well.

I haven't been to that one very many times, but when I have the selection isn't the greatest and the prices are a bit high for what they're asking. Similar to the one in Eastlake, although I have gotten a few good deals at that one in the past

On Friday, my wife called me just before noon, asking me if I would like the afternoon off from puppy duty to go wandering around. Would I ever! I quickly outlined five sales that I would have hit the next day that would still be open in the afternoon. Here are the finds:
53078523382_101fa9bd61_b.jpg
The first stop yielded a Schrader knife, odd Wiss snips, and a brass thingy, while at the second stop I found a Plomb long extension and a marine chandlery catalog from the thirties (sails! steam engine parts!). The third stop was a quite messy garage clear out, my favorite, and while there was a lot of tools and such, not too much I was interested in, but I did find an SK hex wrench set, Colombia screw outs in the original box, hex nuts in an unopened box, and a hammer handle. Nothing at the forth stop, but at the last stop, an estate sale I just barely made it to, I found my favorite of the day:
53079208834_0a61cbd0db_b.jpg
a mission style foot stool, to go with the mission style chair I restored a while back! All told, I spent $20 for the day, and had a great time.

Have been busy the last couple weeks so not much opportunity to hit sales. I did pick up this Plomb box from a CL listing, apparently the PO worked for Boeing and his departure must not have been a happy one as he defaced the Boeing stickers on the lid. Fortunately the Plomb sticker is in great shape which is the main reason why I picked this up. I'm thinking the removable tray is not original as it looks quite homemade...

I did make it to one sale near the house before I went out of town for the weekend and while the garage was full of tools, not much of it was in my wheelhouse. Grabbed this black oxide Stevens 1/4" partial set which had a few random Craftsman bits. I added the Proto hinge and Blackhawk rat which I'm pretty sure is offshore as there are no USA marks on it. $5 for the Stevens stuff and $3 for the big P&C 2740.

I was visiting family in Oklahoma City last Sunday and a garage sale withs lots of tools popped up on Marketplace. It was only a mile away so I popped in since I needed to do a Walmart run anyways. It had been picked over and was about to close. I was thinking about not buying anything when the seller offered everything on the table for $125. With the Snap On, Proto, Plomb, Mac and Matco tools sitting on it I picked it up. I also got the flammable rag can for another $20. I also grabbed some freebie NFL plates LOL. Ist photo is the Snap On and Bluepoint. In the second photo, are Cornwell, Craftsman, Indestro, Mac, Matco, New Britain, Plomb and S-K.

I was at an ES this AM and was getting ready to ask the price on a floor standing Craftsman 150 Drill press with the second pully for speed reduction. The DP was in a shed in the back yard and was "an over the river and through the woods" type of extraction. That was weighing on my mind when I got a call about a family medical situation and went to handle that.

The DP was in good shape but the extraction to the driveway was daunting. Someone had pulled a Grizzly table saw out of the shed so it's definitely possible - maybe just not by me.
