^ That is the first time I have seen that particular catalog page. The "****** Grip" was made by Dudly Tool Co. (patent 520562). The Billings hand vise is patent 525311. The "Boss" hand vise is a mystery.

I got two small hauls myself.
First sale provided the rail of Snap-on impact sockets from 1987. IM140, 160, 180, 200 & 220. The one on the far left turned out to be a Taiwanese CR-V that snuck in.
Beehive(ish) screwdriver; New Brit, Williams and three "Star" hex drive sockets I believe are Indestro.
$8 Total.

Second sale had a complete set of Indestro metric DOEs 8-19mm with the original clip.
Plomb WF-7c 9/32 drive hinge handle
Proto MFD spinner
Long C Craftsman needle nose cutters in great shape
Snap-on G code 9/32d 11/32 6pt; Walden 1/4d 7/16; CM 1/4 =v= universal; Plomb WF-24 uni; S-K 7/16
Allen 3/32 Allen key handle. I've never seen one of these before. Seems kind of superfluous since it is size specific so you would need a whole set that would take up a lot of room, plus you need a 1/16 key to tighten the set screw to lock the individual keys into their handles. I guess you would need two 1/16 keys if you wanted one to be in the handle!
$4 Total.

Long day, late to post, but this morning's trip to the flea market (Lugz 2023_32) was a true red-letter day in my book. Maybe Top 5 of the year for me.

2023_32 A.jpg2023_32 B.jpg

- The theme started out as "It must be funky flashlight month" (some of you may remember the Ash Flash flashlight and screwdriver combo kit from Lugz 2023_31 last week), when I found the pistol flashlight. No markings. That's going under lock and key in the display cabinet so my grandsons don't use it as a ray gun.

- Picked up the Audel's "MACHINISTS and Toolmaker's Handy Book", dated 1942, next.

- Then, the WWII machete sheath. Chinese junk inside, which I gave back to the vendor in the act of talking him down on price. Not marked, but I have a U.S.M.C. Mk 2 without one!

- Vendor swore the extra-large wrap-around sunglasses were military, but I think he's overreaching based on the OD green vinyl snap pouch. They were coming home with me anyway.

- Few tables down ran into the impact driver. I don't know much about it except how to use it. Says 'TRIUMPA' on the case, and 'Kingsonic' on the handle)

- That XL skinny 3/8-drive extension is a wartime Plomb.

- Last but not least, as I was walking away from one of my favorite sellers - a north Jersey guy with my sensibilities about tools, history, politics, and rousing stories, where I bought the pez dispensers as surprise stocking stuffers for one of my older "The Office" loving kids, I noticed some "paper" which I flipped through and saw the wedge-shaped paper envelope with advertising on it. 'The New WISS Kitchen Shears'. "Hey, I need this!" I said, more out of shockingly dumbfounded luck that it existed and it was actually there in my hands, to which he said, "Take it."

Posting my LEFT-BEHINDs for retired Air Force or aeronautics buddies or otherwise aerial layer wonks @Provincial, @Old Radar, @cvairwerks, etc. I don't know who Master Sergeant Ingram, is, whether he's Rickenbacker, Hap Arnold, or Robin Olds type famous, or whether he's just someone's grandpop, but I thought you guys would enjoy the artwork!

I think those are intended for some job where you are using a single hex key all day, maybe in an assembly floor, or working on a specific piece of equipment. I have 2 or three, and have never seen more than one in a location. Will see if I can find them, and currently think they are all the same size.

My dad bought my mom a big loom like that when she first retired. She got into quilting instead of weaving, so it sat idle. I think she sold it, but it might still lurk in a corner of their garage.

Those are usually a Hi-Lok Handi-Hex key for aircraft.

I don't know who MSgt Ingram may have been, but he was likely a maintenance chief at any of the several fields in Vietnam where the Cessna-made O-2A Skymaster was used as a Forward Air Controller (FAC) aircraft. The artist seems especially infatuated with that airframe--although the peddle-powered ultralight golf course buzzard is nice, too!

As long as I am here...., cleaned-up closeups. See 'Safety Glasses', 'Books', 'Lugzsonian', 'Knives', and 'Shears' threads down on the VB for more.

And here is that impact driver. There's no more appropriate place to post it down on the VB. 3/8". If there are other examples on GJ they were not accompanied by the terms "Kingsonic" or "Triumpa". For the self-proclaimed super sleuthers, "Triumpa" is apparently trademarked, but I am getting no hits outside of GJ on that, either. The only returns for "Kingsonic" are eBay sales of similar or more modern impact drivers in more modern cases, all in the UK.

Estate sale. 2 electric charcoal starters, Oregon wood grenade for splitting logs, partial multipack of D batteries (already in flashlights). I've never seen a sizable garage and a basement workshop so completely cleaned out for an estate sale. I'm thinking relatives came before the sale and took everything. Everything I bought was in the garage, only a few items there. When buying gas I found a Stanley 13mm socket in the road just outside the station. In the car I found the large Boston clip number 4 from a recent sale, made in Statesville, NC. What a coincidence, I have 2 license plate toppers nailed to the garage rafters I bought long ago as inexpensive garage art from Statesville dated 1962 and 1973.

Well that could explain a lot. I think I also have two or three 1/4” ratchets, modified for that use with a hole thru the anvil. Guessing my pics will line up. All of mine were found real close to SFO approaches, and probably homes of former mechanics. Thanks.

Oops, apparently I already knew that in 2021 when I labeled this picture. Memory is such a fleeting thing.

…. and an Allen 3/32 labeled tool , probably for Hi-Lok (Hy-Lok) allen wrenches…..

PXL_20211113_234207688-X3.jpg

Here is a pic w two modified ratchets and no Allen holder

… , 2x wright ratchets modified for HyLock aviation fasteners…

Consistent spelling seemed to be a problem For me on these things.

This morning I had to decide between the first day of archery deer season and the second (and last) day of a neighborhood yard sale. Yard sale won out, and though I didn’t buy much, I don’t regret the choice.
$3 for a 2oz Bonney PH1 ballpein, $1 for a Bonney 16J narrow jointer, $5 for a Browning golf bag cart (mostly interested in the extendable handle), $2ea for a table saw featherboard and push block. IMG_0268.jpegIMG_0273.jpegIMG_0274.jpeg
Left behind a plane, which seemed complete and wasn’t too spendy, but I was satisfied with a picture. I especially liked the “M.Schitz” stamped twice on the nose. IMG_0269.jpegIMG_0271.jpeg

I guess this sort of qualifies as a garage sale find and they were free. :) My brother bought a house that came with a motley assortment of tools in the garage, most of them weren't anything special and got donated to the ReStore but I found a few things worth keeping: a fairly complete set of Craftsman deep metric sockets, a Snap-On flex adapter (it has a '6' date code but I can't match it up to any of the codes on the date charts), a Plomb flex socket, a nice no-name plumb bob, a sliding T-bevel for woodworking, an old Craftsman ratchet, a hand vise, a Red Ace tape measure, and some inserts for a Workmate bench. Not pictured was a bunch of extra long tie wraps.

A couple weeks ago, I scored a Milwaukee 7-1/4” circular saw for $10. I cleaned it up, but then ignorantly pressed the spindle lock button while the blade was turning. None of my previous saws had that feature. Made a grinding noise, which was bits of gearcase ($42 replacement) the lock pin broke loose when it caught and wedged out of alignment.
IMG_0210.jpeg
The pin would not stay in line in the chipped-out raceway.
IMG_0208.jpeg
I thought about the situation and decided I would keep the $42, remove the pin and button assembly and close up the gap with a wad of epoxy putty to hold the grease in and keep debris out.
IMG_0225.jpeg
I covered the opening where the button was with aluminum and a couple pop rivets.
IMG_0230.jpeg
It runs well and I can change blades just fine the old fashioned way.

Slim pickins today, but at least the cool weather cooperated.

Picked up a Plomb 1/2 inch breaker bar with the end slotted for a 1/2 inch drive. A Proto 1/4 drive 14 inch extension. A Wright 3/8 ratchet as well as a Proto screwdriver and a Proto 1/4 nut driver.

I had a good, if mixed bag day today, Then I had a short power nap as my head was aching behind my eyes. That helped.

Longish drive (the HS FM 26 miles away, but this has become my favorite honey hole lately...) the car shed the left front hubcap I discovered on arrival - irritating as I just had new tires mounted, so clearly they didn't get the cap on tight...

Anyway: from the Flea a slow start but cool finds:

I started at this booth with the Concho's, then some shotgun/rifle cleaning brushes, and a brass/bronze cleaning jag I haven't seen before, and 2 Long C packs of Abrasive disks, same from some other source with a lambs wool polishing bonnet (zero "Wear eye protectin" or other safety reminders; so showing their age...) $3 all!

B1 Cochos Gun brushes Long C abr Disks.jpg

Almost missed a pic of this on: A replacement generator for Coleman single mantle lanterns (242 and 200 series all take the same one) $7, which is cheap compared to what new or NOS cost these days.

B3a 200A gen.jpg

A 4 piece very light weight bamboo "Mayflower" Fly/Spin cast rod, likely made in Postwar Japan, not stellar quality, but in great shap.e, and I was happy to hand over $6. What I really like about it is the handle can be reversed for either fly or spin cast reels..

Same place had the Brass LL Bean Candle lantern for $3 -Turned out to have a chunk of the glass "globe" broken out, but the piece is there and I have it being super glued now. SG works well on cracked Coleman Globes, so this should be fine.

The small Barcalo WP pliers were from a later YS, for a buck

B2 Bamboo Rod, Candle lantern, Barcalo.jpg

My Last piece from the FM was this Stove. the guy started at $50 which wasn't bad, but I ddin't want it that bad. I got it for $30.

1920s (Working on narrowing the MFG date) Prentiss-Wabers, Model No. 4 patented Auto-Cook-Kit. Stove. Brass Tank; you lift it and the burners up, shift to the left, and stow inside. Came with the pump and original funnel, so complete. It should clean up nice!

B3 PW No 4 a.jpg

B3 PW No 4 b.jpg

All the yard sales planned produced; mostly the TOO's didn't:

Purple bowel/vase/Candle holders for my oldest daughter (her fave color), Hubard's Shoe Oil (near full), and the coaster (Viking ship motif) were $5, the booklet and Turquoise pendant a buck each.

Book Glass Shoe oil Norge Viking Tourqoius.jpg

A GOOD yard sale for tools, I could have picked 5X as much, but was cherry picking -all this (2 pics) for $20:

3 side grip Vise Grips - Irwin but these came late in the life of Peterson, Herbrand DOE, 2 SO Combos, an Indestro DBE, 4" Crescent, I wasn't going to take the 8" but it's marked PG&E, and no Mfg marks? had the hanger hole code: U>12>1?, Diamond WP plies (my day for smalls), Klein Dykes, and Boker made in Germany mini Electricians pliers.

Y1 VG Herb SO Indestro Cres PG&E Dia klien Boker G.jpg

Stil same place: Gunk iol can, Wrench stack Clip, Stanley No. 1220 hand drill (Mising the off side knob - No clue why it was even considered needed? takes three hands if you try to use it...), 3 Proto Drivers, 1 P&C, 1 Whia, 1 SO, and anold Log C era geometric Craftsman "professinoal" driver -My first of this style!

Y2 Iol, Stanley D Proto Whia SO Long C Pro.jpg

Later Yard sales: $2 for the Prop, cents .25 for the Pautzkes bait jar - bait was petrified and on cleanup I discovered the cap was rusted through, -OK for display - not so much for any other use... the "Bottle" socket, MAC combo, Chisel handle, and hinge handle Driver were a Buck for all.

Y3 Prop MAC handle Socket Hinge Pautzkes.jpg

All in al a decent day! Tools, the Stove and generator, the Bamboo rod as highlights, I'm happy

Two partially full cans of propane, a maple board off the free pile, a set of Weru taps n dies for metric jewelry sizes, a coping vise (birds mouth or vise pin, depending on the craft), and a lodge grilling pan.

I had to run down to the other end of the state, again, this Friday, so I check to see if there were any interesting sales. There were, but what I ended up doing took so long I could only make it too one, and while there was a lot of things there, not much that swayed me. But the '30s Blackhawk 3/4" breaker bar did, and I had to get the long C Craftsman as they were bundled. Saturday, I hit a couple sales, but only one had stuff I liked, but it had a lot of it. So,
53192912704_2da4b6e8d1_b.jpg
Stanley doweling jig in box, Starrett bore gauge in box, SK socket set (incomplete), two end mills (slightly rusty) in box, Plomb LA and Blackhawk sockets, 2 chisel handles (poss. 720), DEKO 9/32 driver, unmarked 9/32 driver (ground down), Penncraft ratchet, jewelers driver, misc. MT attachments, and a dual marked Plomb/Proto ratchet. All of that for $11.

The reason I headed down state was to pickup and do the paperwork on these:
53192921214_f16b31e5cf_b.jpg
A 1938-41 Mossberg 26c, and a 1945-48 Mossberg 46M(a) parts gun. I was able to work it out so I did not pay anything for these, except time and gas, which I like. But the reason I wanted the 26C was some of you will remember I found a vintage Mossberg scope a few weeks ago, and I started looking for a suitable candidate, and, well, I found one. Here it is test fitting the scope (I need to find some vintage looking 10-32's in my nut and bolt stash)

Been a while for me but this might be my favorite score ever. I bought a MF Super 90 a few months ago. The guy I bought it from called and said he found some bearings and a manual that went with.

He mentioned that his big hay barn had blown down and that he had a bunch of stuff that needed a new home.

I bought the toolbox and he threw in the other stuff.20230917_093830.jpg
