Lots of scores at an estate sale today! Because of the family it was a one day only sale, big prices on items to start but crowd was small and not buying so they started dealing! Here's some of the goodies I bought! Snap On large bottom roller tool box $200, notice the Wilton swivel base bolted to it! Columbian 135 pound anvil in nice condition, $300. Remline top, Kennedy middle and Snap On lower stack $120! Columbian 804 welded steel 1940's vise $40. More to come!

I mentioned the big Snap On box had a Wilton vise base bolted to it. I had bought the Wilton and removed it for loading in my Excursion. And then got home, unloaded everything and realized the vise and other stuff was missing! After panicking and trying to get a hold of the estate company they finally messaged me back saying they had found it and set aside for me to pick up tomorrow. Whew! So only Wilton photos today are the base LOL.

I collect small household oilers and have seen a lot of similar cans for polishes or fresheners. Today, this one came home with me, I’ve never seen it before.

Frigidaire Surface Renewer, fits right in the collection.
IMG_8750.jpeg
I’m guessing that you probably already have one of the 3in1 oil cans but If you don’t I got one.

Got these today at the local antique mall. The sockets are Blackhawk 1” and up in 1/2” drive. I figure $4 each couldn’t pass them up. Same with the screwdriver and runout dial and fan.

I hit a very nice estate sale, way out in the country. Not much in the way of hand tools, but a lot of interesting storage items, saw mill tools, and farm items. I am trying to hold back on what I buy, or at least make sure I find enough stuff to sell and cover the cost, but I did find some treasures: Proto Torque manual, Greenlee gouge, Starrett long pin punches, Starrett long tap handle, Stanley 98 marking gauge, two right hand Spintites (homemade), and to sell a Toyota tool kit (these bring good money from the JDM crowd). Saturday is half price day, and unless something really exciting comes up, I will be back for that!
The old school toyota "teq" logo always brings some good money. Nice find on that!

$80 mostly quality tool lot; few craftsman thrown in.

This counts as a **** in my book ! Well done.

While out running errands today, I stopped by the one sale that was of any interest, and then the Restore afterword's.
53239646549_df0f6a5b3a_b.jpg
At the sale I found a set of Lectrolite DBE's, while I was lucky enough to dig out of the socket bins a bunch of Blackhawk 7/16s drive sockets. And while I was digging, I found a Snap-on and Proto LA to boot.

But the real score came from the thrift a few weeks back:

Japanese Homes and their surroundings, 1886.
Wow, nice find on those 7/16 blackhawk sockets. Those are about as rare as hens teeth around these parts.

I've had an automated email alert setup on CL for "Delta Drill Press" for several years. 98% of the alerts are spam or Chinese homeowner toy DP's. About once a year a vintage Delta DP shows up but they are either basket cases, incomplete, 15" or grossly overpriced. This time I got lucky with an ad for a beautiful 17-600 machinist model for $175. Since the ad was 13 hours old I suspected it was long gone but called them anyway. They returned my call right away and it was still available. I offered them $200 cash sight unseen and told them I could pick it up in a couple hours. (decided to highball vs lowball). It's really nice. It's dirty but there's not a blemish on the table and nothing's missing. They threw in a whole bunch of big drill bits, a rolling drill bit index , a Palmgren and a Simplex vise and a few other items.

The owner said he had a few more things he had to get rid of. One of them was a Delta grinder in excellent shape with lighted eye shields. He said $65 and I said I'd take it. I've seen a lot of homemade stands but the stand for one is built like a brick *********.

As I was about t leave the owner asked if I was interested in a Kennedy toolbox with a mic, caliper and misc. I told him probably not but said I'd take a look anyway. Out comes an absolute mint Gerstner machinist chest cram packed full of machinist tools. He said $100 and it's yours!

Dont think you could have done much better with a gun and a knife :). This is a ridiculous haul that I think most guys can only dream about ! You **** sir.

Stopped by estate sale College Place, WA; hoarder mess several buildings. Guyinto old Fords, think they said Model A's. And, some motorcylcle repair. Many old flathead engines lying outside under tin or tarps, parts in falling down buildings and lean to's. Had been picked through for all good tools and such already. Bought this lot for $5; suspect most go into scrap iron bucket, but will check out the Ford wrench #'s for collectibility before doing that. Be hard figure out what tire irons go to.

Not much (Lugz 2023_34) from the flea today. An ignition wrench kit, all single open ends, from 1/8" to 1/2", branded "CHICAGO", no pouch, and a treatise on Civil War ammunition, written by an Ordnance Dept subject matter expert in 1959. The figures are magnificent.

You guys have been very productive the week I'v been gone! I got sort of caught up on Email notifications last night, but minimal time to comment particulars.

Making a little time for today's posts: I don't see anything in there not usable or collectible. Anything with a Ford script is collectible at least.

I did stop at a thrift in Eureka I like (from when we made semi regular trips there for my daughter in Col) and found an early 20's American Gas Mfg. Kamp Kook Stove pump:

I also hit 4 in Mt Shasta City, to no avail.

It's missing the hose and the scew in part for the hose. Maybe I can make something up:

Pump 1.jpg

Desperatly needs a new pump leather, besides general cleanup:

Pump 2.jpg

Compared to my pump from the KK #3 (which I used this past trip). Slight difference in the "business end" of the tube Yes the "hose clamps" are tightly wound string! - Factory originally did those that way.

Flea Market season winding down. Haven’t hit the market since May. Too busy at the lake. Rained most of day yesterday in central Ohio. ***** g was windy and damp. Arrived at 4:45am. Was out by 6:30am. $30 brought home the following from the only vendor who had tools this morning while I was there. Craftsman 48” level with case. Looks Empire made. Like new Klein D2000-9NECR lineman. Gently used Thomas and Betts cutter crimpers WT 111 M. Peterson 7R Vise Grips in good condition and a brand new Morse 7/8” carbide tipped hole saw still in box.

I got back last night from my trip to VA prepping my rental for a change in tenants. I spent most of the non-rainy days doing minor repairs to the roof or up on a 24 foot ladder with a long-reach pruner or chainsaw pruner slicing off 12 years of unchecked sucker growth around the trunks of a dozen or more big trees in the yard.
No time at all for any GS activity while there, so I'm eager to get back in the game! Unfortunately, while unloading all the branches and a couple of tons of rotted fireplace logs at the dump, I stepped backward onto a small, round log, fell backward and arrested my fall with my right hand. Ouch. Shook it off and continued working, but after a couple of hours could no longer grip things without thinking maybe this wasn't just a sprain. X-ray showed one of the little bones below the thumb was broken. They put a temp splint on my wrist, gave me a single Motrin 800 tablet and sent me out the door. Ya gotta love military medicine. Have to make an appointment with Ortho tomorrow, but with this particular bone the word is "operation." :headshake:headshake:headshake

So it has been a very long time for me to post on here. I just got back from a sale and had to share with some people who would appreciate what I found. So the listing was for “Tools of all Kind“. I clicked on it and scrolled through the pics. Most was garbage, but the last pic had a vise in the back on a workbench.

I messaged and asked about the vise. I live about 30 minutes away and wanted to see if it was there. I got nothing back for 3 days and then I got a message back…

Here is a run down of the messages…
Me. “Is that a vise still available? I live pretty close and can pick it up.”

3 days later
Them. “What is a vise?”
Me. (I sent a pic of a similar vise)
Them. “This is my Dad’s stuff. Yeah it is still here.
Me. “Great! I can be there soon. Where am I going?”
Them. “ I’m not ready to give you the address yet. I’ll get back to you.”

2 days later the listing was marked sold

2 days later.
Them. “Here is my Dad’s number message him.”

I messaged the Dad and set up a time. Just left with this guy. I paid $50!11

-Ray 1/2” sq. either female adapter, pipe plug, or lost extension end, idk. Perhaps you guys can weigh in.

You **** for that Stanley 2101A brace--but I should actually withdraw it since you didn't scoop up all three the guy had hanging on his pegboard! You could have cashed in nicely on ebay.

Good eye, I didn’t even see the third one!

Ditto (I didn't see those on the pegboard, either).

But, hindsight being 20/20, I'd probably have taken the egg beater drill as well.

:lol_hitti

Not a good sign!

Your persistence paid off, though.

That's funny. Good thing the kid was too dumb (or just busy?) to look up its value!

Very interesting, 3eeb. I found one back in 2020 - but mine was locked onto a BELL SYSTEM B toolbox hasp! 2020 Garage Sale thread post linked here, Bell System thread post linked here. No key. And one that Jeff made for me, sight unseen it should be noted, long distance, did not work. So it's still on the box. Fortunately, the box was open. Same design, different marking. Is yours a Corbin?

SWMBO and I stopped in at an estate sale today. Mostly furniture and household items, but I found the pegboard wall of tools in the basement. SWMBO found some decorator items and I found two Craftsman combos, an awl and a partial gallon of windshield washer fluid. The tools were $4.

Outlaw- yes it’s a push key. Interesting design. Seen them but haven’t owned one before. The locking occurs on the attached end.

Lugz- thanks for the links. This one is Independent Lock though I see yours is Corbin. That’s cool they had multiple suppliers and both say Electric for some reason.

Edit, if you notice the tiny hole through the lock, it would’ve had a hanger, possibly for a chain.
