Racedeck FreeFlow vs Swisstrax vs other brands

So what difference does it make between brands on Amazon? They all look the same. Is it longevity? Thickness? Warranty?

Also, I live in MN… so cold climate, slush, snow, etc. I asked a similar question on using free flow tiles on garageporn subreddit and got completely chewed out for thinking about using them. I thought people were happy with these?

Zero regrets with my RaceDeck FreeFlow floor here in Idaho. Heck, I have not even cleaned it after two slushy winters and it still looks great.

Looks fantastic, my garage setup is almost identical. What’s the color combo you used?

I am considering these too. We also just completed the house garage with a polyurethane that we think looks great. After talking with some others we will likely do Tiles in the new shop.

We live in Colorado so we are thinking about the snow too.

Specifically, I have samples of Racedeck XLC / Diamondplate and the Swisstrax Ribtrax Pro / VinylTrax. They seem very similar with small differences. We believe we would be satisfied with either alternative. Some of the differences - not sure whether better or not - just different.

- Racedeck has larger 18" format vs. 15.75" format - both are approx. 3/4 inch thick
- Racedeck has flattened top vs. Swisstrax rounded - I kneeled on both and equally uncomfortable. :)
- Racedeck has a glossier finish vs matte finish of swisstrax
- Swisstrax seems easier to put together and separate - may help for annual cleaning.
- Swisstrax has two additional diagonal line across the top of the tile in addition to the square pattern - a bit busier
- Swisstrax has more injection points showing on the surface
- Swisstrax has a better written warranty on some tiles "Lifetime" on Ribtrax Pro product vs 15 yrs for Racedeck
- Racedeck seems a bit more "hard" plastic / stiffer vs. Swisstrax - both are hard plastic
- Samples - Racedeck sends free - SwissTrax irritatingly charges $20 for each two tiles...we are doing nearly 1750 sq ft.
- Racedeck invented the idea / both companies have a great reputation
- My experience, getting a good price from Swisstrax has been a bit more challenging and initial pricing is 10-15% higher.

Hope this helps. We did not consider the Chinese alternatives....

You also get a garage journal discount from RaceDeck.
I have had in 2 garages. Had diamond pattern in first house. Currently have the RaceDeck free flow tiles in this house. Love them.
Not to mention great customer service.

I have the RaceDeck FreeFlow tiles and am overwhelmingly happy. I do recommend getting their thicker edge pieces. I think the standard ones are too flimsy. In some ways I wish I would have gotten solid tiles intead. The FreeFlow look great all the time but my kid complains every time he drops a bolt or washer. I was just concerned that I would be OCD about cleaning them. I love how quiet my gargage is and I also like how they isolate me from the cold concrete.

Get some samples of each and see what you like - but don't over think it. Get a floor down and start enjoying it.
I have RD free flow in my workshop. I'm very satisfied with the floor.

The Rag Company has Swiss Trax floors in their HQ detail studio here in Boise. We had a PCA event there. While the floor is nice, it doesn’t have the shine of a RD floor.

Love all the photos, is there an album somehwere on the forum?

Also, do you most just use a full square on the edges, or do you cut to get as close as possible? I just don't want to waste material.

looks awesome! I do see you offer GarageFlow on clearance. what's everyone' experience with it and why is it "inferior?"

Go to the RaceDeck site and all your installation questions will be answered. You basically start in a front corner and work back and to the side. You wind up trimming on two walls (back and one side) unless your measurements fall exactly in 1' increments along with a small expansion gap. I did my 1,000 sq. ft. garage in an afternoon working at a slow pace; including lots of cuts.

Hey there glad you're interested in using Swisstrax tiles for your garage. We've had satisfied customers from colder climates such as Minnesota that have reached out to us with similar questions on how our tiles perform during the winter. For cleaning out snow/slush out of garage floor tiles, watch this video of our friends at RadGarage cleaning their tiles after a harsh winter.

Thoughts on these designs? Alloy/graphite/black free flow. IMG_8471.jpegIMG_8472.jpegIMG_8469.jpeg
Your garage is similar to mine, though smaller. After iterating through a ton of designs, I went with the attached combo of Black, Graphite, and Alloy. We kept it simple since the tiles themselves are pretty busy and shift based on the angle of the light.

Looks great! I ended up doing all one color because I couldn’t symmetrically center the tiles with garage doors. Too ocd about it.

How’s everyone finishing the edges? I was gonna add vinyl base cove but the edges don’t seem to sit right on free flow like they do on concrete
