So I have a collection of belt grinders, and only one of them came with a factory stand....
Time to fab up some new ones!
The first one works "ok" and is totally functional but it is rather bland looking.
Specs
960-250 BurrKing grinder
1/4 plate for the top, base and a 2.5"X2.5" .188 wall tube, 4-250lb machine mounts and a custom mount for the VFD.
So then I picked up the 760 machine and it came with a factory cast iron stand. They aren't bad looking kinda an art deco style, but they want over $400 for one plus shipping!!!
So when I picked up the 960-400 w/o a stand I decided to make another one, this time with some more visual style.
Specs
1/4 plate again for the base and top plate, and 5"X5" .180 for the tube, but I styled this one more like the factory stand.
So as I was copying the factory stand I used its dimensions for the top plate, This was a mistake! When I mounted the grinder on it is became obvious why that was a bad idea, The base plates for a 960 and a 760 are not the same size!
OOps! So I had to notch the top plate, as there was no need to adjust the grinder to an angle past vertical I only went about 1/2 of the way.
And the finished product
