Just trying to keep this thread active! And getting ready for my job interview in about 100 years ago. Really hope I have enough to get the job done 🤣 and here's some different 7/16 sockets one unmarked 6pt one S/O 6pt and a later pre date 6pt plus an S/O 4pt. I've had a few unmarked 7/16 sockets before but never with a flipped size marking. You can definitely tell they didn't quite have it down yet looking at some of these pre S/O sockets

Some of my modern sockets have size marking either way up. I haven't checked them all, but it looks like the ones I bought around 1990 are opposite way up to the markings on some which were replaced under warranty about 5 years ago.
I have 13mm sockets in a 6 point and a 12 point with markings the opposite way around!

1936? L-72-N 5/8 drive ratchet head. Double staked ball retention. 7/8 handle bore. 22 teeth gear.
Got it apart with some finesse and it was like new inside. Works perfectly.
Appears to be the same ratchet as the 3/4 version but with an anvil machined down to 5/8.
Shown with an overstrike 5/8 drive socket, Proto 5/8M to 1/2F adaptor and 3/4M to 5/8F adaptor.

Yup 36. Snapon still had a bunch of 5/8 in circulation. I think someone posted one with a ford stamp

According to mrx back in post 4114, 2251 is the part number for the ratchet in the allison v1710 toolkit

In my ongoing (as yet unsuccessful) effort to find a 1944 dated TM-10-D to match my E dated sets I have accumulated a few more 1945 dated examples. The closest I’ve come is one wartime looking one with no date code. I think that I’m ready to give up and just go with 1945 dated ones in my sets.IMG_0887.jpegIMG_0888.jpegIMG_0980.jpegIMG_0981.jpegIMG_0982.jpegIMG_0983.jpeg

Don, I think I've stated this before (somewhere), but I have never even seen a picture of a TM-10D-E. I only have 2 "E" sets, and they are sporting TM-10D-G handles. I'm with Oletuleguy, I don't think they exist.

Found this 1934/1935 No. 56 Midget Set at a sale last month. This is the first of this style of M-70 ratchet I have come across. Missing the Speed T and Sliding T from what I can tell comparing it with the 1934 catalog.

That's some rare stuff! Here's a 37 set I've been collecting. The ratchet changed to the m70n, similar to the later m70m but no screws in cover plate, just press fit.

Here's a snap-on mystery solved. A mystery that maybe no one has really wondered about ha but notice how the no7 ratchet didn't come out until about 1925? But there was a number 1-8 while missing a no 7 at the very least? Well that's because the original no. 7 was a valve grinding attachment socket that is only in a couple old adds not even in the very first cats as far as I can tell

Snap on K4B speeder. 1/2 drive. first shows up in the 29G cat, last listed in the 36. 27-28 inches long. Has a knurled top handle.
These two both have a 29 code, one is a two ball stop the other is a collar stop. neither has a model number.
These are very hard to find. I have never seen one with a 30s code, or one with a model number.
If you have one holler at me.

I asked a while back but now that its in hand I really can't make sense of this "socket" don't see any markings but it's too close to the other socket style without looking like a modified socket to not at least seem like a factory snap-on. I been tinkering on cars
For just about all of my 30 years on this earth and l don't remember ever using something like this could maybe think of some uses but hoping someone has more than total guess work

Sorry guys feeling a little sentimental here. Not to get too much into my personal life but now at the age of 31 and having been collecting since I was 30 I can't help but to feel grateful for the community and what collecting these tools have brought to my life. Anyone who has interacted with me or has paid attention at all can probably tell that I have a pretty unwavering enthusiasm about it. Something that I have taken into every endeavor I have engaged in and in the past being that they were usually more physically demanding this mindset had resulted in my first 8 surgeries before I turned 23 all from likely avoidable injuries, so seeing that Thanksgiving is nearing I just want to express my gratitude that my wallet is much better at recovering than my bones haha but seriously I am pretty thankful to be a part of this little niche of people who find the beauty in what is absolutely inexplicable to most and since I'll likely burn myself out on this I figured I may as well put this slightly embarrassing message out there! And I suppose I shall add some pics so here's some pretty cool stuff. A bunch of different 3/8 sockets in 1/2 3/8 9/32 and 5/16 drive plus a pretty cool craftsman ratchet i picked up for 30$ and then a 7/8 drive set i picked up recently with a few oddities including an unmarked socket which is the only 7/8 drive one ive seen as well as this super weird socket thing that i call the conversation ender since no one ever wants to take even a shot in the dark about it ha. Alright that's enough of that 20231118_003615.jpg20231118_195139.jpg20231118_003615.jpg

Regarding that conversation ender: I once had an S-K combination wrench that the open end was forged but not sized and the box end was perfectly round. I called it my loaner wrench. Could it be that this is a loaner socket? I can think of no practical use for it, otherwise.

It's probably an adapter to use a ratchet on some piece of equipment
Could be used for a number of things in conjunction with some kind of pin that probably came with it originally not sure if it's just a coincidence but the HD-9 fits in it almost perfectly like less than 1/64th of an inch to spare. I'm mainly curious if it's something snap-on did or not or if it's even a snap-on "socket" since it doesn't have a single marking and there were a few other brands in the set when I got it. No big deal really I just hate mysteries that don't seem solvable ha
