I put the yellow on...[ ]...It was originally Cyclones "cherry bomb" red, but I was corrected on the Vise thread and hence Hawkeyes "mellow" yellow.
So, you posted it on the Mega Vise thread first. Painted the lettering red. Had some version of the 'is this antique verbiage referring to Iowa State or the University of Iowa?' discussion on the Mega Vise thread. Re-painted the lettering yellow. Then you re-assembled your entire estate sale haul and posted it here? @RTM, you need to send him the Garage Sale Thread Re-Training and Priorities Adjustment manual toot sweet! :)

I shall soon begin the Great Garage Sale Thread novel. "It was a dark and stormy night as I peered into the inky black garage, when suddenly a flash of lightning blinked into existence..."
"...but it was only a Coleman lantern refitted by @Outlawmws with a 1000 lumens LED!"

RE: Cyclones "cherry bomb"
sorry guys, this is the second or third time I've seen that and it's driving me nuts.
Cyclone didn't make the "Cherry Bomb" glass-pack muffler.
They were manufactured by Maremont. I used to buy them from Puget Sound Automotive Warehouse. (Ask for Carter, who later went to South Side Brake.)
Cyclone made the "Purple Hornies"
okay.. pedantic rant over.

Spent a full day at Flywheelers the other day and brought home just a few things. This is maybe half the haul. I ran out of light for posting sockets and smaller misc., and left out some things that were picked up as a potential flip.

That said, it was a good day for breaker bars, ratchets, and older wrenches.

Breaker bars: 1/2” Mac with female end
24” Snap-On (sweaty looking)
Craftsman C-93 (after Beemer’s already this week)
3/8 Snap-On Ferret with female end, and ferret extension
3/8S-K
3/8 hex drive unmarked t handle
1/4 unmarked possible Walden t handle
(2) 3/8 Plomb t handles
3/8 Duro t handle

Ratchets (many came from a fellow tool forum member/dealer):

-1/2 Mustang
-3/8 long orange handle Mac
-Craftsman round head
-Vulcan
- Trio - PWA Bonney, PWA by New Britain,PWA Walden
-Bonney pear head
-Billings bullet handle
-Armstrong unique design open gear ratchet (still unsure what the deal is with this). Can't find another like it.
-Koene. The oddball thing that looks like a stretched out padlock. This came from another favorite tool vendor/collector. Long story short, this wasn’t on his table for sale, but in conversation he pulled it from the cab of his truck to show me as he knows I like all this stuff, and we struck a deal. More to come on this one.

Adjustable wrenches include:
-Oldie Diamond 18” and Utica 15”, maybe the deal of the day ar $5 each for those bigguns.
-unique/oddball Samson brand
-Mossberg bicycle wrench
- Billings curved wrench

I think all that remains are the Snap-On 1/4x 1/4 bit, old Blue-Point doe, old Thorsen short drag link socket, and strange NAF numbered wrench which I haven’t researched yet.

I went to the estate sale of a Harley builder, and as I passed beyond the old lathes, I spotted an old, filthy tool box, and after taking a look, I decided to purchase it, along with a few other things I found.
53475029400_0b6e6bfbaf_c.jpg
after cleaning out the dreck, I found a partial set of Craftsman G sockets, misc. other sockets, a hook, a MW ratchet, thrust washers, and other stuff. I did find the AMMCO micrometer, unmarked dial calipers, and small hole sockets to add to my purchase. Not too spectacular, but it was the toolbox itself I wanted
53475031045_a53e176f21_c.jpg
A Walden BK20, which was made from at least 1928 to 1945, going by ads and catalogs. I do need to remove the socket rail the former owner welded in though.
53475031385_542622cdec_c.jpg

EDIT: it's a BX20, not BK.

Had to look that up, and i take pride in my cunning lingual skills……..thx for the French education!

I cannot tell a lie... I was torn between my 7 years of French lessons (which have left me with zero useful skills), and this decidedly American classic...

3bay, that red handle 3/8 long ratchet is a fine tooth MAC from the early ‘90’s and I’m your huckleberry if you’re parting with it.

I went back to yesterday's sale hoping to find the Wright socket fill-ins and maybe a few more Williams Combos. The place was still packed, the absolute right company was handling the sale"Dig Detroit" . Someone made quite a pile in the driveway, which may/may not have had some of my hopefuls in it but I did find the following after sifting through the garage( some of which I saw yesterday but held off as the garage was blanket marked $4/tool ,which in reality I paid way ,way less than that:

The oddities in today’s scrounging.

I’ve passed up a handful of Handiman’s before, thinking they would never ever be users and would just take drawer space. But these were all but mint, so now they’ll get drawer space I guess.

The grounding (?) clamps were much less than scrap value. I’m hoping someone who knows what I should do with them comes along and tells me, otherwise they’ll be separated into brass and aluminum and get reincarnated. What are they, who would want them?

@shanny19 gets a **** from me for the handimans! Big fan of those.

Here’s what I got today. One sale, motorcycle guy, always interesting to see how different people set up their home shops.

IMG_8904.jpeg

Snap On 13.5” thin flat head screwdriver. Was just mentioning in another thread, these make great light duty poke/pry tools. 2x Craftsman 1/4” drive hex bit holder sockets, 2x 1/4” drive socket rails, COO Italy tweezers, 9/16” Snap On angle wrench, 8mm Craftsman ratcheting wrench. Blackhawk 1/2” x 9/16” and unbranded USA 3/8” x 7/16” for what GJ would call “my small but growing collection of” stubby offset DBE wrenches. Plus a no name brass pocket caliper.

The weather app promised a break in the rain from 9:30 to early afternoon and there was a very promising sale listed in Rodeo, CA. so off we went. The weather app was wrong but at least the sale was in the garage. There were plenty of tool buyers at the sale and it was like a feeding frenzy but we got our share and then some.IMG_2700.jpeg

Massively jealous of you guys being able to be out and about. -20 degrees this morning... no flea markets, garage, or estate sales going around here for a while. Might have to get creative to go on some picks soon.

Those look to be high line tap clamps. Taps the primary voltage lines to drop power to a transformer. Salisbury is an electric supply company so it fits. Ed.

Opens at 1:00 today but I don’t know what will be left since it’s the 2nd day. Nice people to deal with though.

Some of you might hate me for this, but I thought it would make a great rustic handle for a sliding "barn door" 😄
Nah, in use is way better than in the scrap pile. My shop cabinets are all handled with BluePoint and Armalloy DOEs. The drawers are handled with Proto DOEs. The handrail from the garage floor up the two steps to the kitchen is a supersize Proto DBE. The whiskey glasses in the freezer are old 3/4 drive Snap On sockets with the drive hole filled in with mig wire.

Found this Ford wrench at the local antique shop. 01A-17017B. Tagged for $5, I gave the lady $4 for it.

Sounds like good candidates for this thread: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/the-repurposing-thread.209475/

O1A designator on Ford tools means it was FIRST Issued in 1940. This is a pretty common Wrench, repurpose it as you like. Most Ford tools have little value since they issued so many, and NO ONE throws tools away (even after the vehicle is long gone)

Not a garage or estate sale item, but fills a void I've had for a few years.

Sneak peek (I'm not home yet, my wife sent me this pic earlier, and she was NOT happy with the creativity of the mail carrier)...
