Does any one know off hand if porta power threads are common place? I'm talking the ram threads for accessories, not the hydraulic lines .
I have the chain hooks both male & female but hoping to fab up a special puller "tang" for a job. That's if it can be done fairly easily . I have not measured anything yet, I have to dig for the stuff in my shop. I think the diameter is about 1-1/2" on the puller ram male threads . not sure of the pitch . This is a Chinesium set.
Just curious if any one knows ?
Tks

I think mine are common pipe threads, cuz there was a pipe ****** in the box, but a much thinner wall it seemed. Been a few months since the box has been open. Mine is a real Porta Power, 4t version.

are you talking about the collar threads which are on the outside of the cylinder? Most of those of 10 ton and under cylinders are 2-1/4-14

Some of the smaller cylinders that are hollow and threaded called "plunger threads" are 5/8-18 threads to match puller threads when that is most common in 5- 10 ton pullers and slide hammers have. These are actually not that common in the gist of porta power cylinders.

no, not the external threads to install a foot on to, the pull ram has male and female threads on it to thread on chain hooks .
I have it in my hands now and it seems like 1-1/4 running pipe threads from what I can see

OK, I am going to assume your talking about the universal maintenance style set cylinders instead of the sized lifting cylinders and pulling cylinders.

5 tons use 1-1/4 x 11.5 NPT

2 tons use 3/4 x 14 NPT

12 tons use 2 x 11.5 NPT

:dunno:

I Checked in my enerpac and OTC porta power catalogs.

Those are the power houses in the industry with simplex pulling up third place. I think OTC was the first to market such portable hydraulic hand pump rams.

If the Chinese made a bad copy of the threads or used something else entirely ?????

the threads look good. but they are not tapered like sealing threads, , rather straight threads such as found on things like lamp pipe & fittings etc.
I did determine its 11.5 tpi and it does thread in to a ( crappy thread) 1.25 pipe coupling I have
Thanks for the info
