Does anyone know of a company that makes a good quality cordless light that can be used for auto mechanic work? I would like a light with a good runtime and with good lighting. Thanks.

I had this for several weeks now, starting to get used to it, especially the front switch. i'm used to the switch being right under my thumb, but not a deal breaker.

flex neck, magnetic base and a thin head. you can pretty much shove it anywhere and make it stay there. i just got rid of the pathetic plastic hook.

my only complaint would be the annoying blueish tint that all the LED worklights emit. just waiting for the day that we'll be able to get nice warm white light from cheap LED lights...

also sold on walmart, hd, lowes, etc

I have a really overpriced, overrated Snap-On I wish I never bought. I bought one of the Stanley Bar Flex LED on Black Friday for 14.95 at lowes I was so happy with it I went back to by another a week later. It was 29.95 then. I still bought it. Great lights, great hook and magnetic base. It also pivots slightly. Has a high and low setting and will run about 6-8 hours steady on a full charge.

I've got the CMAN version and I really like it.

Depends on what you want. LED lights tend to direct their light rather than scatter it like an incandescent or florescent light would. If you want run time then LED is the way to go.

I have this one from Harbor Freight and it run at least 7 hours on 1 charge easy.

You can get this cordless florescent light from sears which I hear will run for about 3 to 4 hours on 1 charge with their 19.2 LIon batteries. Makes sense if you already have some of those batteries laying around.

IMHO, the Craftsman one is junk. Its problem, is the recharge/plug, is at the bottom of the point in the handle. Other brands I have seen/used (Terralux, Uview, store branded ones), have a six sided base, so they don't roll, and have the plug, INSET, so you don't hit it on that when it gets dropped. I don't see it on their site, but I believe my current one is from Harry Epstein's.

I have the Stinger one, and just about everyone in the shop has it too. Last long on each charge and is super bright.

kinda pricey, around 140ish

I have this one from B&D (Christmas present) and it actually works really well. Two settings, and pretty good light spread. Magnetic and twistable/bendable would be a huge plus, but it doesn't have that!

I've never had a problem with mine. As far as not having a six sided base, it has a magnet mount that keeps it from rolling around and you can attach iot sideways, upside down or use the hook.

First one of the shops, the hook popped out, and it hit the ground, bottom first. (out of the package) Second one broke due to human error (dropping off of bench trying to make space). It hit the same way, on the point.

For some, there isn't an issue, I just think it is something to be aware of.
