Just picked up a Grizzly 7x14 lathe so I can make small pieces of material out of larger ones. I added a quick-change tool post and tool holders, carbide and HSS bits, a 4-jaw chuck, live center and a 5/8" chuck to it while I was at it. I have it mounted to a HF Yukon tool box that I picked up on sale last Friday and I replaced the wood top with a piece of 1" thick granite for the extra mass and rigidity.

I like the all in one aspect. Outside something like a Uscope it's hard to get an affordable scope to do something basic like an ignition waveform.

I've got my Pico but just wanted something fast and reliable for Roadside Diagnostics, I think being able to look at the Current ramps/burn time/rpm dropouts without switching probes and settings is a great idea (in the video you can see ramp #4 is clearly bad). It's a lot nicer quality than I was expecting for $300 to be honest 👍

Blake: I was just looking at punches and chisels at Harry Epsteins when I thought about the Craftsman punch/chisel/lineup tool/prybar set I bought in the 80's as a young man without any clue as to whether it was a wise purchase. (It was! It was!)

So, do you have any line up tools? I always find them handy. Here's a fair price on three:

This is a very fair price on a bunch of stuff, and a tool roll, too. (And one line up punch?)

HJE also has three different sizes of line up tools, at least, by three different manufacturers.

Victorinox Swiss classic foldable paring knife (aka camp kitchen knife.)

$23.96 Amazon, available in many exciting colors. I got a dull normal traditional Victorinox red. Handle says “Swiss Made.” Package says that, too. Sticker on back of package says where they now make them, which is, you know, that giant country that makes a million things, and makes it possible to be $23.96.

Folds, locks open.

I'm not the OP, but I have a Park stamped-metal 15mm cone wrench for... bicycle cone wrench use, but also for rear caliper bolts on one or two of my VW's.
The reason I asked him about it was because last week he had a thread going on outfitting a take along bike tool kit. I was active in that thread.

I have cone wrenches as well. Only used them for that so far.

Needing something larger than 6" calipers for working on the drill press, I searched Amazon and came away with these.

12" digital calipers.

KIMG1444.JPG

Just got an email a day or so ago for these.... They'll do the job! 12" and 24" available.

A few new tools ...

Tecomec Magenetic Blade Balancer, because it's that time of year and the nail trick doesn't work at all on my star shaped hole mower blades.

It's 'Made in Italy', which I suspect is also rebadged as Oregon (just a guess because the Oregon is also 'Made in Italy', but sells for more than twice the price). There are many others that look just like it sold under a variety of brand names that are 'Made in China'. Seems to work well, though I've no idea if this one is any better or worse than any of those, and I wasn't about to spend several hundred dollars on a 'Made in USA' Magna-Matic.

And I picked up a new Fluke non-contact voltage tester. The Klein I'd had for a year or so before it doesn't work at all anymore. I won't be buying another one of those again.

And this Harbor Freight tool creeper I got a couple weeks ago. I think I might have even posted about it already in someone's thread looking for suggestions about something similar. Pretty handy for $15 (It was under $11 with a 30% off coupon). Was nice to be able to roll the tools around from wheel to wheel while I'm doin brakes.

It's got a steel plate on it for sticking as parts tray or a magnetic based light to (shown here with an Astro 52SLC).

Saw this on YouTube and decided to give them a try. I like the idea of a 4 in 1 ratcheting wrench to reduce weight and space in a travel box.

You might to give them a workout in the shop before you rely on them to save your **** in the wild. I bought a set a few years back for my truck box. Literally the first time I used them they fell apart. Hopefully that’s not what your experience ends up being.

Went to buy a spark plugs and saw the toptul set of dbe's,asked for the price and dude said $41,too good to pass. Its a store in a small town so they were on the display for yeears. 12-13 is missing, someone stole it,they were like "we will order 12-13 and when it arrives you can pick up the set." I was like "I will buy them now and I will pick up the missing wrench when you get it" He went to order it and was like "wtf,12-13 alone is $20". Haha,i ended up with a full set for $41,and that store is stuck with toptul prices from 2005,at monday i have to pick up the missing wrench. I was too afraid to leave em till they get the missing one, they could figure out that now price for that set is like $100-110.

Do i really need them,no...but it was too good to pass,satin/polished finish is really cool.

Great minds think alike. The Vessel screwdrivers are on my radar and I recently purchased similar wrenches from Tone through Amazon.jp to take advantage of the yen being down. How do you like the finish of the KTC?PXL_20240416_025521016.jpg

Just received the new Snap On PL344BCF/PL344BCFND talon grip slip joint pliers set, which I mainly ordered to obtain the small size long nose talon grip pliers (LN44BCF). I ordered both the dipped and non-dipped sets for comparison. I'll keep the non-dipped set in my road kit.

The pliers are tiny; at 5" they feel significantly smaller than the two larger size talon grip pliers (7" LN46ACF and 9" LN47ACF). I'm sure I'll still find them useful. The fit and finish were better than I anticipated.

I've had these for 5+ years; as a home user they don't see a lot of use. Mine are somewhat crudely finished on the beams if you're a tool polisher- don't expect Snap On coffee table beauty to sit and gaze at while you pleasure yourself :ROFLMAO: Mine are more like Stahlwille as far as finish. But they are fine and perfectly functional and no issues with unusual wear. I believe that I bought these and not the KTC because of the size availability with no skips. I also bought them from Amazon.jp

After seeing this 90 degree gearless drive mentioned here on GJ, I had to check it out for myself. Don't know if I'll ever use them but fascinating tools nonetheless.

The 1/4" version needed lubricant and still doesn't rotate as freely as the 3/8" version. They also make a 45 degree version.

Ordered via Amazon: CalVan 90 Degree Gearless Drive

And if you didn't see it before, here's how it works: YouTube Demo
