Would like some info on this Schollhorn parallel jaw punch thingie
There is a tapped hole in the top that signifies a missing piece. No model number. H L Judd Co NY on top.
It's an eyelet setter. I have one. Search the Schollhorn/BERNARD thread on "Triumph" (model name) and you will find it. H.L. Judd made drapes, curtains, and the like. Major upholstery house.
Finally at a dollar each:

Looking in the Schollhorn thread might get you going.

But I think it punches a hole, then flares an eyelet grommet. I think Judd made window blinds, but I apparently didn’t put it there.

Looks like a winner here, dang Lugz typed faster. https://archive.org/details/HLJuddCoCatalogueNo50/page/n207/mode/1up

The tapped hole was probably to chain it to a workstation.

I just completed cleaning up the wood handled drivers I got last Sat. and ID'd all but one:

from the top:
The one unmarked driver
Plvmb (ferrule is in the Evaporust and USC)
Millers fall's
Winchester (ferrule sure looks like Stanley...)
Stanley No.20
Stanley No.20 (different handled style)
Stanley Hurwood, (with part of a patent date of Apr. 2. and then its obliterated - on the shank; which is also odd... Stanley's are usually on the ferrule. this is likely Patent Number 671,039, Apr. 02, 1901, Screw Driver for a steel shank through the handle so it can be hit with a hammer and not break the handle; and assigned to Stanley Rule & Level Co.

Also scraped this tidbit up: "In the early years of this (last) century the march of progress continued.,In 1904 the George E. Wood Company, of Plantsville, Conn. manufactures of Hurwood screwdrivers was bought. The business was enlarged under the Stanley leadership and Stanley Hurwood screw drivers became the biggest selling quality drivers in the World"

That one, the Winchester, and the Plvmb PH #2 are the winners here, and the little MF gets a nod too:

I need to properly catalog my wood handled drivers... (and all my drivers for that matter)

Hey folks! Not a yard sale, but a Facebook marketplace find!

I found the proto wrench board, and then found that he also had these snap on hex sockets for sale.

The craziest part is that the wrench board is 100% complete.. I'm not sure yet if I'll keep it or pass it on.

Here's the crazy part l... $20 each, for a total of $40! The guy also gave me a big box of other tools for FREE. (Picture not included as it's all jumbled in a big cardboard box) Some good stuff, some give away.

Beemer, let me be the first to say, You ****!

Edit: That Stevens Spintite wouldn't happen to be a #3, would it?
No, it is a #4. I need a #3-1/2, and I will check my spares when I get a chance for you.

^ Shaw ?? (third from left)

any other pieces in that kit marked the same?
Yes there was one other Shaw. The rest was either not part of the set, or marked differently.
I think your push drill is actually a screwdriver, a Yankee style. I think mine is a Craftsman, so dirty and held together with tape that I assumed a kludge, til I saw a nice one marked Craftsman.
Turns out it is a Wards. So, yeah.

Only two flea finds this morning (Lugz 2024_37)...

2024_37.jpg

- A compass made by Suunto in Helsinki. I don't know anything about it, but it's aluminum, with an ivory plate on the bottom, that leather strap, it just has a vintage look about it, and my wartime military bone was tingling.

- A screwdriver for my H.D. Smith "Perfect Handle" collection.

Had another fun score 2 weekends ago with my boys. We got a whole bunch of old school USA goodies, but the kicker was how cheap this set was... An old Craftsman underline logo set! All the sockets on the rail, and ratchet were rubber banded together. In another tray of tools was the sliding t-handle, 2 extensions, and the last 2 sockets. A bunch of other misc. Stuff Including a bunch of USA made were in the tray...

$1 for the rubber banded set, and $3 for the tray! A whopping $4 for the set.. did I need it? Nope, but it was waaaaay to cool to leave. I haven't owned this style of Craftsman ratchet before.

, and the vise stand is baffling. Anyone have any idea what this was? I’m wondering maybe military
Check the threads, is it metric? I got a rough cast grinder stand, thought it was old, but just rough metric stuff. I'm still keeping it.

@Private Lugnutz - My late step-father was a timber cruiser. He carried a Suunto in the woods. I was more than happy to have it passed on to me.

I had to run a package over to the post office. Halfway en route, I spotted a free lawnmower. I drove around the block so I could get a better look at it. While driving around the block I spotted a "Garage Sale" sign with an arrow pointing me back toward my house.
When I came back up around the block and could get a better look at it, I saw that it was a Husqvarna. Normally I don't work on import engines, so I continued on to the post office and mailed my package out.
On the way back it occurred to me that if I flipped the Husqvarna sitting at the curb, I could clear enough to offset the cost of the extra-long metric hex key set I had to buy several years ago to open up one of those models, so I stopped and tossed it into the back of the truck.
With nothing to lose but money and time I found the garage sale and picked through several tables of stuff. It was clear that what was left had already been picked through thoroughly, but I did find a tiny Craftsman phillips, a J.P. Danielson "Vanadium" 8-inch adjustable with broached hanger hole, a 708 Proto adjustable, and an ancient "BEST" egg beater.
I've never owned an electric mixer - I have something of an aversion to electric kitchen appliances - I make whip cream and stuff with a hand whisk - so the egg beater might come in handy. ;)
$4 bucks.

Thanks for letting me know! There are a lot of references to this one on-line, including WorthPoint, eBay, and finer auctions of adventure instruments, with some hefty prices, half of them claiming it's a WWII Finnish Army march or field wrist compass M-311. Which would be cool if true. I am skeptical. Mainly because there are others that look identical in a commercial box with a commercial brochure and instructions. TBD. I need to do some reading, but if I revisit here it will likely be on my Lugzsonian thread.

Garage sale ($5.00): Hibachi.
  • Back from vacation in the Canadian Rockies. Stayed at an excellent hostel north of Lake Louise, had a wood fired sauna and a creek right outside the door. Looking forward to firing up the Hibachi and reliving the days of cooking brats on the stoop of a friends rental in Vancouver.

Well I tried to do some research on the fork I got last Saturday with limited success; the company/person's name was in a couple of industrial listing Google books had, but no details for it at all - usually a piece of advertising on something like this will get at least Eprey hits, but not this day! It seems to be 1915-1920 with limited evidence.

Based on the fact it was from a bakery, and the assumed age, I'm guessing toasting fork. so a decent fit for camp gear - Who needs a stove top toaster?... icon_mrgreen.gif

The fork:

And markings:

Didn't someone mention Slatedale in the last few days?

All are pretty clear until this one: I'm getting

"NUFF SE_____bon, - you eat.

Lugz mentioned Slatington. Slatedale is a smaller community, separate from, but very close to (west of) Slatington.
Too bad about that wild woodgrain obscuring the letters. I suggest “NUFF SED when you eat” - enough said, when you eat. It doesn’t quite parse for me, but that era was full of advertising nonsense trying to capture slang.
So the whole slogan would be “NUFF SED when you eat E.J. GROSS’ BREAD, CAKES & PIES SLATEDALE - PA”

That order parses better in my mind; I was thinking the NUFF SED" was the end, but making it the lead in makes sense, and the spacing on the handle lends itself to that.

Thx LS!

I stopped by an estate sale after work this evening, decent amount of tools in the basement. Paid $20 for everything as a bundle.

Went back this morning and got more stuff, $10 for everything pictured.
